It does. I wouldn't know where to start.

OMG! How did you do that? Is there a 12-step program? Just kidding. I see myself with just a few plugins that I know really well some day. I just have a ways to go.

I played it. Seems very comprehensive to me. I'll try to remember it next time I need an audio interface. I always forget something important. You sound a little like Tom Bodett.

Thanks. I verified that the sandbox option had been checked and I was up to date. I download and use each release as soon as I notice it's available. I'm very appreciative of the effort being expended to maintain and improve Cakewalk and want to do my part, which isn't much. I have very few problems with early releases. So I'm minimally impacted. I've not had many vst scan related problems. So this one was a surprise. But I think my own actions contributed heavily to this one. I suspect that my problem was caused by a collision of launching a just installed release and instantly loading a project after renaming a VST subfolder (i.e. not a new scan path but a new and removed folder in an existing scan path). Anyway it hasn't happened again and all I needed to do to resolve the problem was close and re-open the project with the 10 copies of a VST that was in the re-named folder.

This Software is better than Pro Tools.

Not that old. -
I had a similar experience. I solved it by canceling the scan, closing the project with the failed plugin messages, closing and restarting Cakewalk, and waiting for the vst scan to complete before launching the project. In my case I have close to a 1000 vsts because I have two or three versions (x32 & x64 vst, and vst3 x64) of so many plugins. Also I'd renamed a folder of a plugin used over 10 times in the project I opened. It seems that usually the project being opened waits for the scan to complete and find moved or updated plugins, but that didn't happen this time.

Saving/Loading Sonitus Custom Settings
Bill Phillips replied to Johnbee58's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Don't you need to navigate to the "Shared Plugins" folder inside the command window as administrator? When I open the command window it opens my user folder or C:\Windows\system32 when I open it as administrator. -

Use one of the compressors included with Cakewalk such as the recently added CA-2A. -
Convert all Clips to Absolute Time for Mixing? [SOLVED]

Thanks. That's the approach I'm going to adopt. -
Thanks. I have MEqualizer as well.

Convert all Clips to Absolute Time for Mixing? [SOLVED]
Bill Phillips replied to Bill Phillips's question in Q&A
Thanks @John Vere. I agree audio snap is too much work at my amateur skill level, and maybe even for an expert. Melodyne had worked flawlessly for me on acoustic guitar DI tracks until recently. Now I do find myself trying several algorithms to get the best fit; but it still works in under 5 minutes. Unless I hear a good reason not to, I'm planning to try using absolute time on the next mix project to see if it makes a difference. -
I'm wondering if it would be a good practice for me to convert all clips imported for a mix from the default Musical Time to Absolute time immediately after import? I work almost exclusively mixing songs recorded live without a click track. The recording project song tempo doesn't match the default CbB 120 bpm project tempo. So the project Tempo Map doesn't match the song tempo. In preparing clips for export from the recording project, I extend any overdub clips back to 0:00 on the timeline then import all clips into a mix project. Then I import or drag the clips from One of the first things I do is drag a clip, usually an acoustic guitar track, to the timeline to establish the project tempo. The acoustic guitar is the closest thing I have to a click track and it's usually pretty good. Most songs these days don't have drums. Now I'm thinking that selecting all clips and converting them from Musical to Absolute Time before establishing the tempo map would be a good idea. Before the tempo map is calculated by Melodyne, the song length is actually in minutes and seconds not measures and beats. In searching for previous discussions on this topic I found this one posted by @John Vere that seemed most relevant but didn't answer my question.

Unexpected Problem When ASIO Buffer Size Increased
Bill Phillips replied to Bill Phillips's question in Q&A
Thanks. It's already True. This is counter intuitive. I'm having trouble imagining how increasing the number of samples in the I/O buffer could degrade performance. I don't recall this ever happening before. However, I'm able to keep working on the project with 64 samples with crackling. -
I was getting lots of sizzling when I moved the cursor around over the CbB window and opened and closed plugins with an ASIO buffer size of 64 samples. My usual solution is to increase the ASIO buffer size to 1024 samples, but that caused the audio engine to dropout instantly. So I tried 256 samples which cured the dropout but playback was unintelligible. I looked up the dropout code (1) which suggested increasing buffer size which hadn't worked this time. I looked at other settings. The only change I made was to change Synchronization from Full Chase Lock to Trigger & Freewheel since my MOTU 828 mkII has a word clock. This didn't help. I made a gif showing me working through the ASIO buffer size changes and how CbB reacted: I started with a buffer size of 64 samples and playback is ok except for a little sizzling. Note the performance meter shows a reasonable load though the max engine load is 140% and there are some late buffers. But playback is usable for mixing when the cursor isn't moving. I next switched to 256 samples and the CPU thread load bars actually bounced up but the max engine load did drop to 105% and the number of late buffers didn't significantly change. But playback was unintelligible. I next switched to 1024 samples and the audio engine dropped out with (1) dropout code indicating that a the buffer size should be increased but that's not possible and increasing the buffer size seems to increase not reduce the problem severity. I switched back to 64 samples and the audio engine restarted and playback was usable.

Thanks Bassman. I saved that second link but I probably won't be able to find it when I want it. ?

Does the QuadCurve EQ have a "solo mode"? Not sure that I have the right name. I'm referring to clicking and dragging in the EQ spectrum panel to solo a filter that follows the mouse pointer. I've tried CTRL, SHIFT and ALT + click with no luck. I thought it did but couldn't find it in either the online and PDF documentation.

Trying to manipulate Console Emulator on all tracks
Bill Phillips replied to noynekker's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks for pointing that out. I got lost. I started on the 2021.04 Build 155 thread and somehow bounced to this one. I'm still having Quick Group issues with ProChannel and am now going to find my way back to the current thread. -
Trying to manipulate Console Emulator on all tracks
Bill Phillips replied to noynekker's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Is this a custom key binding? If yes, how does it work? Holding the CTRL key down is required to execute Quick Group controls. Selecting multiple tracks in Console View and holding CTRL and clicking the ProChannel popout icon will pop out ProChannel for all selected tracks. -
Trying to manipulate Console Emulator on all tracks

Quick Group adjustments in ProChannel don't seem to be working for me. I've mostly tried it to insert Console Emulation modules then to turn on the Tolerance toggle. Didn't work for either. I also tried for Quadcurve EQ Gloss toggle Didn't work when tried for a all tracks or for two tracks. I'm using Build 155. -
Thanks Bassman.

I would really appreciate a complete, comprehensive keyboard shortcuts list. I spend lots of time searching for them mostly after I accidentally use one and realized something changed but I'm not sure what. Examples from today apply mostly to the Track View and Console View which is where I spend most of my time. The Track View Keyboard Shortcut list in the PDF Documentation seems woefully lacking and inadequate. Examples from today: [Not found in PDF documentation and searching for keyboard shortcuts in online documentation seldom produces useful results. Most are listed in the Customization Keyboard Shortcuts list but there's no view reference which is confusing to me] CTRL+SHIFT+LEFT/RIGHT ARROW - Move between tabs in MultiDock if there are multiple tabs. SHIFT+RIGHT/LEFT ARROW - Moves between Track Pane display options. CTRL+TAB - Disappears the Now Time Marker and not much else. [Unassigned in Customization Keyboard Shortcuts]
-
Thanks. I think I posted this in the wrong place. What I'm looking for is a comprehensive list of keyboard shortcuts. Thanks for the insights. Everything you point out seems to work for me except, in my case with CbB maximized, Ctrl+Tab seems to only disappear the Now Time marker and doesn't switch between views.
-
Are the functions for the CTRL+SHIFT+LEFT/RIGHT and CTRL+TAB key combinations described anywhere in the documentation? I've looked at both the PDF and online and can't find them. Also is there any documentation of keyboard shortcuts for the Console View? I couldn't find those either. The CTRL+SHIFT+LEFT/RIGHT shift tabs in the MultiDock if there's more than one tab. If there's only one tab open it closes the MultiDock. I found that discussed in the post below. CTRL+SHIFT+LEFT/RIGHT are listed in the Keyboard Shortcuts table but I can't find them in the documentation. CTRL+TAB makes the now time marker disappear in Track View I can't see that it does anything else and it's shown as unassigned in the Preferences Keyboard Shortcuts table.
