  1. Quick note to add to Matthew's for those who haven't bought/tried the Ukramedia scripts yet. The Ukramedia scripts require the CC version of Adobe After Effects. I have the Adobe CS5.5 so will not run there, and my version is also dependent on Quick Time, which was recommended to be removed from systems years ago due to security issues, so AE eliminated itself before this deal occurred. Premeire Pro 5.5 (from CS5.5) is in a similar boat for me, since the audio VST blacklist required so much maintenance that I eventually wrote a script to rename my VST folders when launching PP. It defeated the purpose of using a program productively when you spend more time on workarounds. Adobe went down the path of making users choose to either allow Adobe to force them down a path of dependency or kick Adobe to the curb. One big selling point for CC was the interoperability between applications, but in recent years more and more competitors are accommodating this, some more seamlessly than others.
  2. https://shop.presonus.com/Fat-Channel-Collection-Vol-1-Plug-ins Seems no... Scroll down that page, the FREE versions are also VST3 host application compatible. Edit - Ironically, I just added all of the FREE ones to the cart, but already had all but the https://shop.presonus.com/Fat-Channel-Plug-in-Bundles-PreSonus-Bundle The individual ones it said I already have; but after checkout, it has those 4 individually for download.
  3. +1, this may be overkill for many folks, but if/when the time comes it would be good to have (even at this version only). Rather than fumble with cheap alternatives and deciding later that you need more, you would already have something that can do a lot more and work your way up from the basics - not really any different from starting using CbB to make pod casts, then deciding to work orchestration one day. This is an awesome opportunity for someone who "might one day" get into video work without having to shell out big bucks... and in the event that it is just a flash in the pan (which is common to see), at least it wasn't a massive money investment for nothing. I had not heard of HitFilm before, but I already like the workflow to it, and seems pretty easy to start simple and shift gears into complex. All of the FX "just working" with the supported programs is just a nice bonus. Christian... your post popped up as I was typing... my suggestion would be working with Resolve until you hit a wall requiring an upgrade (goes for any program really). You may not ever miss it.
  4. I had never even used this before, but started a project before the update with it loaded and the previous Ampire vanished on that track after the update (the FX was there, but the GUI went blank on it). That might get people upset enough to get that fixed. These are definitely usable, especially for free, but the noise gate does stand out. The amp hum is nice, but you rarely want that in the track. It is consistent enough that noise reduction would remove it, but PreSonus doesn't have a capture/remove print tool (yet). That video could have been done better IMO. Fumbling through a GUI in 23 minutes isn't as nice as a direct presentation in 6. I didn't make it past the "mics must be by cab" part of it.
  5. This was why Melda said they removed the ability to exclude 32-bit plugins. I assume they were getting support requests asking if users needed to install them or not.
  6. I never liked the time it took to use an expresso machine, and a regular machine will make some pretty strong coffee if the beans are ground to dust. Just be careful of this if the machine has a fast brew rate, since dust will plug the filters quicker and take longer to drain. You won't get the last bit of water from the grounds without pressure, but a high percentage of the coffee is actually in the first cup from a regular pot (even without grinding to dust). If you want to be hard core and not worried about getting your teeth dirty, Turkish coffee is actually made with the grounds in the cup (often with cardamom). You can swirl them and drink them too, or let them settle out.
  7. To clarify the OP, the title is a bit misleading, in that it is specifically for the MDE-X Multi-effects processor found in the Triton keyboards. Upside - all of the products are now on sale, including the Bundle of all products.
  8. This is not so much the use of varispeed (workflow vehicle) as it is the change in formant (end result). MeldaProduction's MAutoPitch is part of their free FX bundle, and will tap into the formants directly without requiring a pitch shift. I would give that a try and see how the results work for your material.
  9. First time ever I saw this message from Google Drive: "Sorry, you can't view or download this file at this time. Too many users have viewed or downloaded this file recently. Please try accessing the file again later. If the file you are trying to access is particularly large or is shared with many people, it may take up to 24 hours to be able to view or download the file. If you still can't access a file after 24 hours, contact your domain administrator." Mirror 1 actually gets a 2-4 MB/sec download rate, so not as low as I was expecting.
  10. I have never seen the rpm spec on these, but own two and they come across as 5400rpm drives to me. They get power via the USB cable, are heavy, and don't pull high transfer speeds; but they are good for backup storage options.
  11. It's cool, they are pretty thorough with things. I *think* you need to add a bundle to your cart to see the credit you get for owned plugins (is how it used to be), but the whole web site was redone, so it may be still be suffering growing pains.
  12. That is weird... makes me wonder if the custom install settings are mucked up. I have never had an issue with it either, but I have never adjusted any of those settings. Some apps do not react well to cleaning utilities, especially if they store app-specific data in temp directories. Purging those directories may reset them to "default," which may be another issue for broken links. Not sure if that applies to Spitfire's app, but is a possibility.
  13. I had bundle offers showing up saying "get x more plugins" upgrading to this/that bundle, and already own the MCompleteBundle. Try shooting him another email with the detail of what you are seeing. My case may have just been an easy fix (not showing bundles that folks already own).
  14. +1, not only that but Luke shot me an email response immediately about the error with the bundle offers in the user's account section, and it was fixed the next day (last Friday). I am going to download this now to check out that MCCGenerator... that could make certain automation lanes a thing of the past.
  15. Some apps always install to default locations and do not even give you an option, although it is worse when they give you an option and do not honor it. I have gotten into the habit of letting apps install where they want, then making a junction afterwards to where I want them to go (move the original folder, then junction where it came from). Saves me remembering what installed where that way too. I keep a batch file for each junction, which is also a handy reference if adding another sample drive... I have done this once and made the process far simpler to restore the machine (break the junction and point it to the new location). Interestingly Adobe and Corel have both broken junctions on subsequent installs, so I have had to redo the process a couple times. These were easy to spot with apps pinned to the taskbar, since they suddenly go blank due to a bad link.
  16. Hey Mike, I caught the last two of these (caught the comping the other day), and they are very well done. Nicely focused to the "task at hand" and using CbB with the perspective of a new user in mind (the free 3rd party usage was such a nice touch). The straightforward workflow explanation is exceptional IMO.
  17. To add to this... insurance companies are fine and dandy about taking premiums from you and it is not until you submit a claim that they show their other side. A video is the easiest way to catalog things, and good to get SNs as you go. Although many do not require a "detailed catalog" of property for loss, that can also very much work in their favor when a claim is submitted. They will dispute, require proof, etc. With cell phones, a video with narration (and witnesses) is good to make and store where it cannot be lost. Also, read the details of any property policy... although they may say "do not require declaration of most items," there is often a clause in there requiring declaration of specific items (jewelry, electronics, musical gear, etc.). If in doubt, call them and clarify this, and also keep a record of who you talked to, when, what was said, etc. In potential legal issues (should it come to that), the person who comes to the table with the most documentation often wins. Also, some states have pretty liberal small claims court limits, and you do not need a lawyer to pursue one, just go to the courthouse and file (with the information you compiled above).
  18. Fleer Someone had mentioned last year that new users would find a lot of limitations without all of the packs, so I just updated to Ultra from Pro myself. I am suddenly thankful for their download manager (it is actually nicely done), I just set it to download only and walked away from it. There was no way I was going to manually download all of that one by one, since I was missing almost everything. BIAB keeps hitting my radar, then falling off each year (third time's a charm?). I need to set aside time to actually make something with it this year. Maybe I will stick to the plugin and force myself to use that.
  19. Back of the bus bucko... I was here FIRST. {Off topic... wait, the first comment was too :)] I am onboard with the UI bashing though, this thread reminded me that Kontakt is the one with no UI border... you have to resize it via the hotspot area in the lower right. I didn't get Kontakt full till last summer, and a UI where someone tries to cram everything onto the same page where the user has to scroll through loaded instruments makes me wonder if NI even knows what tabs/pages are. I cannot fathom someone trying to use it before the UI could be rezised. That UI could use some serious (post-2010) love. Part of the OP issue is that Library makers don't make it clear on their product which versions are required (but they are getting better about is). It would help others to change the OP title to something like "Please specify which version of Kontakt a library requires" but it will scroll off the screen by tomorrow anyway.
  20. IF you have the old machine up and running, you can also "start fresh" and copy the preference pages manually from the old to the new (or even screen capture them). Some settings you will definitely not want at default values (MIDI Playback "Prepare using:" buffer, Audio Record Latency Manual Adjustment, etc.). As some things have changed or been added, it is a good opportunity to review things and find out what they actually do for you.
  21. Side note to this comment... some VSTs do not allow you to specify the installation folders, and Steinberg is where they can likely end up. That folder is good to have included "just because." Searching for where something really installed will always work, regardless.
  22. I totally forgot about these. Thanks for the reminder!
  23. Just caught this. Click on "download," on AmpleSound's site. They have 3 free instruments there: Cloudrum, Lite Martin acoustic, and Lite P Bass. They are still very usable, but not fully functional.
  24. Quick update on the Particle Shop piece. I am not sure how/why I got on a Smith Micro mailing list, but quickly discovered the brushes in Particle Shop are child's play in comparison to Flame Painter 4. Never heard of it, had to Google it... it is owned by "Escape Emotions" it seems, who has it on sale... but it is also listed by Smith Micro at 50% off (till December 2). The stock brushes are way more capable, both in function and how the brushes themselves work (very sensitive, motion based). Only 3 other brush sets exist (120 additional brushes) for far cheaper than Particle Shop, but those need to come from Escape Emotions as far as I can tell (I am not sure of the relationship between the two companies, TBH). It has a demo which won't let you open files, but you can drag files into it... just cannot save. Flame Painter saves/opens Photoshop files, so it is easy to add layers and effects, but my version of Photoshop is old enough I cannot use the connect feature and need to save between the programs. Once completed, Photo Mirage works beautifully to animate the flames. I only tried the combination out for about 30 minutes so far, but it has a surprisingly effective workflow to it all. None of this was on my BF radar at all, but I am not going to complain about it.
