  1. If the Master bus is the last stop of all tracks and busses before going to the Main output (Speaker), then it shouldn't matter. They should be identical.
  2. While the title of this forum is "Instruments and Effects", they're referring to software instruments and effects. Your best bet is to find a guitar makers forum and ask there. But, there are also a lot of guitarists here and you may hear from one of them. There is currently a guitar-building thread in the Coffee House forum here; maybe jump in over there.
  3. Plus, setting your car on fire will almost certainly attract the attention of the fire department.
  4. And from the opposite perspective, "Time Waits For No One". Same guys.
  5. I understand, a little. I'm still using SONAR Home Studio 6 for actual song recording on an old 32-bit XP machine. Ancient software, ancient hardware. But, I do have CbB installed on this computer and am learning it so when the time I must move to the new stuff I'm somewhat ready. No viruses so far. I'm just a hobbyist, and it's entirely possible that I'll never finish another song. The pressures of having to complete a musical project I haven't felt in more than 40 years. Thank goodness. Good luck!
  6. That's my last option. I'm not sure I can remake the sound on another vst so I want to know if there are some other solutions. I meant as the first step in troubleshooting. Does any VSTi work?
  7. But did you download the ASIO driver from the Steinberg link? RealTek ASIO won't work .
  8. Welcome to the forum. The "fuzzing" sound could be a trial VST effect or 1 that hasn't been authorized properly. Alternating speeds... I don't know. Possibly sampling rate. Would the 'Input Microphone' be a USB mic perhaps? Ensure that the sampling rate of the device and Cakewalk are the same. Are you using an audio interface of any kind? I think all of those effects are stereo effects and will process the incoming mono signal into a stereo track. Maybe. Anyway, if you could come back with some info on how you're recording and what equipment you're using to record, that will help.
  9. A free harpsichord VST? The first thing I would do is try a different VSTi and see if it works. I think Cakewalk by Bandlab has a couple of harpsichord sounds in its included soft synths.
  10. I have read in these forums that that is no longer necessary and may have never been necessary.
  11. Music Creator Pro went ASIO in 2004 or thereabouts.
  12. The input level for recording is set by whatever interface you're recording through. It can't be set in Cakewalk. Set the Input on track 5 to None.
  13. Many of us use Paint, which comes with almost all Windows machines since the Flintstones were painting on cave walls.
  14. Imagine the heat! There is a movie called Wind Talkers with Adam Beach and Nicolas Cage on this episode in American history. I liked it.
  15. ? It's in their signature. I was looking all over in their posts to see what they were using and wondering the same thing you were, then I saw it.
  16. If this had been available in the '80s, I'd be a millionaire by now.
  17. I believe the big 'monitor' knob adjusts the sound from the computer and the sound of the input so you can balance the two.
  18. I've been trying to imagine a scenario where this would need to be done. The only thing I can come up with is if a track had an effects tail, such as echo delay or a pedal event that you want to extend into the new, inserted gap. I would split that track beyond the end of any events, then drag its new end point to the left so it's not in the Insert zone, then Insert>Time/Measures the desired amount (I don't think it's in the "Insert" menu anymore?) then drag the end of the other track to where you want it to end.
  19. What device do you have set to play the metronome sounds? A lot of the "bugs" you claim to be experiencing will probably go away if you return to using an external interface, although many folks have used the WASAPI drivers (pilots) with success. I don't use the metronome at all, instead using a drum track (click track) through my external Yamaha keyboard. I'll take a look at it. For the record, Cakewalk by Bandlab has fixed hundreds of bugs that were in earlier SONAR versions.
  20. I remember something like this from 1972. A cartoon in Creem magazine, I think; "101 Strings Play Grand Funk".
