  1. Overfishing makes us hard of herring. I won't eat farmed fish either: I don't believe in roughy housing, or carp pooling. I've haddock up to here!
  2. Another of my favorite rock drummers, John Bonham (in no particular order, and each one for different reasons: Bernard 'Pretty' Purdy, Hal Blaine, Ginger Baker, John Bonham, & Neil Peart) I learn a lot by listening and analyzing what they do. When The Levee Breaks - Led Zeppelin
  3. Here's a jazz album I haven't listened to in a long time. IMO Some nice cuts on it too. The Blues And The Abstract Truth - Oliver Nelson
  4. Jet Airliner - Paul Penna The original version, before the Steve Miller cover. I'd guess Paul was happy about that, as songwriter's royalties are usually more than the artist's royalties.
  5. Back in the late 1960s Eric Burdon and the drummer from The Animals (sorry, I for got his name) came into the club we were playing at and asked to sit in. We had a lot of fun. After the gig we went to an Afro-American bar because they were open until 4 AM and jammed with them. At 4 we asked if anyone else was open and they sent us to a club without a sign. Come to find out it was a 'gay' bottle club called Gussy-Wussies and a couple from our band, Eric, and a couple from the black band jammed with that band until 6. It was a night to remember. Eric could make up some decent blues song lyrics on the spot. I guess it was his first trip to the USA and he was as thrilled about it as we were. See See Rider - The Animals
  6. Good choice Bill. Diana is the real deal. Another great jazz gal on piano and vocals is Eliane Elias Call Me - Eliane Elias She's a Brazilian so it's only right to include this Chega De Saudade - Eliane Elias
  7. Another of my favorite drummers is Ginger Baker White Room - Cream
  8. Grass-fed burger, from Florida beef, with becan and cheese. All this is an excuse to eat the becan ;)
  9. I changed mine to "Incorrect" That way I enter anything, and my browser reminds me "Your password is incorrect".
  10. We used to play that song when it was popular. I doubled on Farfisa organ on that one. One day during the 'psychedelic' section, I was just goofing off, I kicked my boot off, and "played" the organ with my foot. Complete bullsh*t but the crowd went nuts. We made it part of the act, and from then on I had to make sure if I had a hole in my sock, it went on the left foot. On with the game... Western Union - Five Americans
  11. The musicianship on this album is awesome. One of the instruments I play is drums, and I am always impressed by Bernard Purdy's playing. He sets up a great groove, supports the song incredibly well, uses tasty fills, and never gets in the way of the song. So today I'm listening mostly for the drums. I've learned a lot listening to Pretty Purdy. The Royal Scam - Steely Dan
  12. Another singer who expresses the words of the song in his delivery, phrasing, dynamics. Etc. And he's my favorite jazz singer. How Are You Dreaming - Mark Murphy
  13. Another performance that really sells the lyrics of the song. I think of Tom Jones as the UK's Elvis Presley. A great natural singer and a hit with the girls. Ben E King did a very good job on this song, Tom Jones did a great job on this song. I (Who Have Nothing) - Tom Jones
  14. I'm no Barbra Streisand fan but I'm not anti-Barbra either. This is an early work by her, it's passionate, nuanced, and the arrangement behind her is terrific. Her phrasing, emotional take represents the lyrics to the song. She brought it to a nice climax, you can hear the sexual excitement one touch incited. She nailed it on this one. He Touched Me - Barbra Streisand
  15. As long as the adults are consenting, it's all good.
  16. Too much sax and violins? Nah. You can never have too much sax and violins.
