Amplitube 5 is here - Release Date 15/12/20 or 16/12/20
Jacques Boileau replied to Fret Flintstone's topic in Deals
Anyone knows if the crossgrade price will stick after the 30th? Still trying to figure out which edition to get and it's family time of the year more than studio time. I would rather wait in 2021 to decide. -

Nectar does not like being a track plug-in
Jacques Boileau replied to Scott C. Stahl's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yep, I have been using it for quite a while solely as track insert without problem. Running on a 5 year old i7 workstation running Windows 10 Pro. -
Well, honestly, I have Pro because the HP workstation I use for Cakewalk came with Windows 10 Pro preinstalled! For me, there is no benefit of using Pro. I don't need to access it remotly. I don't use any of the Pro's features.

Wooaa! I just tried the Tiny Terror preset that I had made in AT4 and imported in AT5. It just sounds amazing. Actually, very different than what it sounded like in AT4. Like I was trying the same amp simulation from a totally different company, not from two different version of the same company's software! And that is only using AT5 CS, so not even adding VIR into the equation! I can't compare with a real Tiny Terror since I don't have one. But it kind of felt strange to have such difference from the same company's emulation!?!?! So, if you have done recordings using AT4, I suggest you keep AT4 around so your sounds don't change on you. But, if you are asking yourselves which I like best? AT5's rendition is even better for me, just couldn't stop playing, but took a break to write this. And there are a ton of other reasons to like AT5 over AT4! There is no going back now! I always had difficulty setting gain staging in AT4. It is so much better in AT5. It seems things fall into place by themselves! I just set my interface's input level correctly and they are just right in AT5. In AT4 they would always be too low. Since I am not of the pre-order kind of guy, I now have to decide which version to get. Hard to decide and may take me a little while still. For sure CS will not cut it for me. I am tempted by AT5 Max, but at my age I probably do not have enough lifetime left in me to try/use all that is included! ? Life is so short! ? But I do want the Rockman if only to reminisce having one when it came out! And of course, play Def Leppard's Hysteria on one of the clean channel, which they did on the recording! -

I don't know if that has been asked before. Can AT4 presets I made myself be imported in some way into AT5? Edit: I just tried copying my presets from '...\Documents\IK Multimedia\AmpliTube 4' to '...\Documents\IK Multimedia\AmpliTube 5' and it worked! It seems AT5 can read AT4 presets. Cool! -

Just installed AT5 CS to see how the new UI looks like and it's great as far as I am concerned. Really love it over AT4, great improvement. Super happy with this new little icon! I voiced my disappointment before and how I hated seeing gears I didn't own and getting the dreadful message box, etc. Thanks IK, this is nice! All my collections are there, great! The only thing missing is the free Orange Tiny Terror that was given away a while back. I have grown very found of the little amp, especially since it reminds me of 1 1/2 year old grand daughter every time I read its name ?, and I am quite disappointed not to see it included. ? @Peter - IK Multimedia Any reason why this nice gift is taken away from us moving to AT5? -

I am from Canada too. How was the duty like if I may ask? I am always a bit afraid of ordering directly from IK since I don't know how duties will inflate the cost. -

Geez, now I feel really bad! Sorry Peter! Maybe no one would have seen it if I hadn't pointed it out. I just wasn't sure if it was a typo. ? My career has been as a software developer and I know what its like to deliver software. With all the best intentions, sometimes it still ain't enough. But... honestly... only 1 day delay... in software development that's almost a miracle! -

Jacques Boileau replied to Fret Flintstone's topic in Deals
Ok, Italy is 6 hours ahead of Montreal. So that means I should be able to download it when I wake up on the 16th... Won't sleep late on that day! Is the 16th by any chance a typo? Shouldn't it be the 15th or is there a one day delay? Does that include CS for those of us who haven't preordered? Is demoing only possible through CS? -
This makes so much sense. Every playback system has its own EQ curve. I guess when we hear that mastering needs to make it sound good on all systems, it actually means good on systems that are as flat as the monitoring system used to master and acceptable on all others. I see two main areas in mastering: sound level and EQ. It seems that sound level will translate well over any system and is pretty independent of the playback system, but EQ isn't. Unfortunatly, it may then mean that how we EQ in mastering, if it does not translate well on some system, may need to be changed for lesser/different systems. Which means that someone with a high quality/flat system close to ours may never hear how we first intended the song to sound. It's like we are going for the lowest common denominator here...

Thanks Larry! Although I'll thank you even more when I finally get to install it and try it out! Still downloading... But it looks like a very good find!

Didn't get that email. Good news: I get to keep 5 bucks ! Bad news: I am sure I could have found something worth 5 bucks in that list...

Changing Tempo jumbles audio - absolutely SOLVED
Jacques Boileau replied to John Vere's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I tried this on the last project of a live performed song I worked on. I too had missed the setting @msmcleod was talking about. I was not on the clip properties tab in the inspector where it's located. In case this may help someone stumbling on this thread: I was not successful at first but here is how I fixed things. It almost worked, but the last problem I faced, is that after setting all my clips to 'time base: absolute' and using the kick drum track to set the tempo by dragging it up on the time line so that Melodyne would extract the tempo, all my clips stayed in sync except for the the kick drum track that had been trimmed to the first beat by the process. Instead of starting a few measures in as it was supposed to, it started at the first beat desynchronized with the rest of the tracks. Before: After: I knew I could probably nudge it back into place, but decided to try one more thing. I undid the tempo detection, left all the tracks to 'absolute' except the kick track which I changed to 'musical', dragged the kick track to the timeline and the tempo map was created perfectly leaving the kick track where it belong. All tracks where in sync and I had a nice tempo map that followed a live performance, which I could set tempo related effects to! Yes! Something I struggled with for a very long time. Now it seems this thread has given me a new insight into the process of creating a tempo map from a live performance! -

Thanks for reporting back and thanks to @msmcleod for the tip. I'll try that next time I'm stumped trying to create a tempo map! Where is this setting located, I never came across it? -
I got it too! I humbly bow to the king. ? Thanks Larry!

Changing Tempo jumbles audio - absolutely SOLVED
Jacques Boileau replied to John Vere's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
If all else fails, you may want to try doing a bounce to track for the vocal track. Then the new track will be a single clip and should adjust correctly to the tempo. But it would certainly be nice to be able to do it without this workaround. -

Excellent, glad it worked out. My drummer is not as steady as yours, and I can say that a tempo map with dozens of tempo changes, works well too. No crashes. -
Changing Tempo jumbles audio - absolutely SOLVED
Jacques Boileau replied to John Vere's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I feel your pain John. I also struggle a lot with tempo and tempo map myself. I think for the uninitiated, it is a topic that is hard to grasp in Cakewalk. I do not have a solution, but I may have info that might help figure it out. Keep in mind that Mark and Craig are light years ahead of me knowledge wise and my suggestions should be taken with that in mind. What I have noticed when adjusting tempo, is when I do it at the start before I edit anything, I have much more success. When I have done some editing and a track gets broken up in two or more clips, things get moved around when I change the tempo. But only on tracks that made of multiple clips. I believe that if all you have are tracks that are one clip and all start at timestamp 0, it should be easier to change the tempo.
