FWIW, i have a F/W focusrite LS 56. Update Windows 1903 and 1909 hosed it. I got it working once with the W10 legacy f/w driver, but wow what a pain when usb works out of the box ...... yes i have a TI chip extension card. Perhaps some have more luck than me, but given the fact that that its a lottery to now run older (not ancient) f/w units ...... i’ll stick with usb. J

Then why do we get so many posts that have so little to say other than disagree with the pros ( see the Noel and Pete Brown posts) ? It becomes very tiring. J

Yep, there is a learning curve with a DAW as intricate as Cakewalk. As has been said read the manual. J

I have both a laptop (i5) used for recording live work and a desktop (Ryzen) for studio work. On the laptop i keep the wifi on (zero problems) on the desktop its off. Both have a continuous power plan for their USB hubs. Other than that, W10 is out of the box. After major updates i always uninstall then re-install audio drivers, so far no issues. I’m on 20H latest version of W10 for both machines. Maybe i’m just lucky, but (fingers well and truly crossed) i’m doing great, zero issues. Jerry

On my set up the piano icon hangs around for a few seconds after Cakewalk is closed. Always has done. if is more than that, maybe a dodgy plugin ? Why is it a problem ? Jerry

I had a similar problem. Turned out it was an old Pace software driver from a long ago installed vst and no longer used. once uninstalled everything went as expected, but finding the culprit took many BSOD’s. All is up to date now J

Boss GT 100 line out to audio device. Effects already applied. J

For live recording i us an Asus i5 ROG laptop. I added more ram and it can cope with 16 tracks via a Soundcraft MTK 22 full usb audio mixer. I record onto its HD then when we have a pause, i transfer to a usb drive to free up space. its now 3 years old. It does what its supposed to, latency is good. I’m a happy camper Jerry

I go direct from my Boss GT100 into a Focusrite and then into CbB. I have no issues getting the tone correct. It just needs setting up correctly before hand. I record at a relatively low gain and then normalise the signal if really necessary. Jerry

Yes they do. But....... Your last statement is a bit OTT, i think. You have to take into account the variables of each user’s setup/system. So what may crash for one, won’t crash for another. Otherwise each brand’s forums would be inundated with complaints..... Is CbB « unstable » for you ? Does CbB crash « too much » for you ? i have a home built affair and it is solid - CbB hasn’t crashed since i can’t remember when. Oh, and you haven’t taken into account user error which we are all prone to at some point. Your make other reasonable points that are ok, but, and please don’t take this personally, i just don’t agree with your last phrase, its a little hysterical, s’all. at the end of the day it is all about making music............. isn’t it ? Yep the 18i20 is the bees knees for me. And i could daisy chain it with an LS56 (haven’t tried since the W10 v2004 update. cheers, J

Your opinion, of course. I don’t need audio snap so can’t comment, but why don’t more people complain about it ??? i find Ableton clumsy and it doesn’t suit my needs. Y MMV but hey, this is the internetwotnot no ? Best, J
