  1. No, I don't live in the USA............ sorry. I'm retired and so don't have so much money to throw around as before. But as I said, self discipline (simple rules) and you'll be fine.
  2. No, us non professionals who can’t afford multiple machines then we have no choice. Look at it that way. There are a few simple rules to follow re safety on line of which i’m very strict about. I live in the real world and no it doesn’t shock me. Your sort of rigid reaction does though.
  3. Well, as i said, there are two ways of looking at things. BTW, Me, i would trouble shoot your system. Been using Sonar for over a year, no issues. CbB is older code, Sonar newer, one software works the other doesn’t - what do they have in common - their OS. Lets agree to disagree on this, there will be no winners.
  4. In the real world today, most people are on line 24/7.
  5. Oooh the theories - I’ll get my tin hat then……. FYI once Sonar, be it free or sub, is installed, it will phone home and be authorised in the back ground. (Note those two words). 99 times out of 100 you will have no need to intervene. And It cannot suddenly « de-authorise » itself. BTW iLoks can get damaged and lost, not for me. Fair to the customer, hmmm, there are two sides to that coin. The side i don’t think you’ve grasped is that subs help pay the Devs for future updates, fixes etc - whether we like them or not, subs are a way to invest in a company and are here to stay. YMMV of course.
  6. I would really like to see the Sonitus plugs (updated) and grouped together in a Mixing/Mastering plugin à la Ozone (5 in my case). Yes I know I can insert them one after the other, no I'm not looking for a chain etc, but a one-size-fits-all, aggregated Sonitus (like Ozone) would be great. I would use that all the time. YMMV J
  7. Whatever rocks your boat. I sometimes use the File/Save function (and sometimes Ctl+S) but every 10 mn autosave kicks in. When recording or playing back it doesn't. So its not as intrusive as some imagine it is. BUT in the Control Bar one of my buttons is programmed Save - very easy to hit it every important step. Hiting save has never let me down (more than a year on Sonar, plus going back to Pro9. I will save as if its necessary, but as Sonar is non destructive, you can always recall a file from a previous take. Of course YMMV J
  8. What utter rubbish. I’ve used it for a year, with zero issues. Doesn’t sound like you have …… And I think its fair to say : user error, not app error. Who in his right mind works on a project without saving it regularly ? I do the same sort of thing with our group, the first thing i do after importing each single file is SAVE. You may not be aware, but Sonar is non destructive, so there is a good chance the audio files are somewhere on the HDD. BTW, If you don’t like Sonar, why are you here ? Curious mind.
  9. Which version ? IIRC it was updated since to stop this issue J
  10. To try and answer your questions : To back up files all you need to do is copy Projects folders somewhere. A separate drive. Have you downloaded and installed Cakewalk Product Centre and tried re-installing CbB from there ? If you haven’t yourself physically uninstalled CbB it will still be there. Have you tried installing Sonar - it will port your CbB settings over and will recognise your plugs. ? what « system prep » did you do ? Has it affected your set up in some way ? Are your audio drivers up to date ? You may be over thinking somewhat - i suggest you just download and install Sonar using the CPC, fire it up and see what happens. Your files are still there on your HDD. J
  11. f I'm not mistaken its HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Asio that you need to clean up. J
  12. And also anything to do with Magix, Fruity Loops, Steinberg, Low Latency ……. J
  13. IBTL. And how many people did the same as you - and have moved in from there ? Who is forcing you into getting a sub ? 7 + years of a free DAW, and you’re complaining ? Are you trolling ? @Wookiee, please stop this.
  14. This seems to be an MS problem according to the multitude of threads found by Google. J
  15. The Staff moduel hasn't been touched for ages AFAIA, and itdoesn't seem to really be a priority. J
  16. Just tried them - they open up fine here. FYI i have Installed : Platinum Prod., X1 Prod. And CbB but only use Sonar. Good luck mate ! J
  17. One of the first : Paul Jones - I’ve been a Bad, Bad Boy. Cuts in around 0:15
  18. A possible fix was posted (about un-linking your Bandlab and Google accounts) on your other post. Did you try it ? Did you flush your browser’s cache ? J
  19. In your Bandlab account settings just make sure that Bandlab is not linked to Google, FB etc. That should do the trick. J
  20. I seem to remember that future additions/ improvements will be sub only ? J
  21. You might want to check out the first post here about the new update to v084 which takes care of your issue. :
  22. As a software developer you certainly know that the most BSOD’s are driver based. You don’t say which audio device you’re running - are its drivers up to date ? Asio4All isn’t the best of asio solutions albeit does work for certain on board cards. Personally i would uninstall it and any generic Asio drivers that other DAW’s may have installed. And this also in the registry. The last time i had a BSOD was a dodgy/corrupt Focusrite driver (it said so on the dreaded screen) i simply re-installed my drivers and all was good. I’ll think you’ll find the greater majority of users are experiencing little or no issues. However, YMMV Try it J
