  1. Download and install the latest version, not last years’ model. Then you will be able to authorise. J
  2. If you’re doing that on the legacy Cakewalk site because you want to activate Splat, 8.5 or a previous version, then you won’t. Only Support can do that with the necessary proof. Have you tried reaching out to them here ? As you’re posting here in the Sonar part of this new site I’m assuming you’re mixing Sonars up. The new Cakewalk Sonar has, apart from some legacy code, nothing to do with the previous versions, is sub based and needs you to be part of Bandlab. If you were referring to Cakewalk by Bandlab or Cakewalk Sonar, simply login to the Bandlab website, go to your account and change your password there or apply for a password reset from them. Then you’ll get a mail ! And can use the new creds to login to the two apps cited. Suggestion : If you don’t have a Bandlab account then create one so you can download and install the most recent version of CbB (which is free and much much better than the legacy versions mentioned above). However you will not have any legacy vst’s that came with those versions you may want to get back. J
  3. I believe this is the version (audio only) from an 1985 US TV broadcast. I have to say it I find Justin Hayward's version too "spoken" and not sung enough. But what a great song. J
  4. An alternative route to take : https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/10/how-to-upgrade-to-windows-11-whether-your-pc-is-supported-or-not/ I found the rufus way long winded and confusing, but that's just me ! J
  5. I always found (and still do) Mix Control unintuitive and not easy to set up. It used to, and still does, take some time to set up correctly, when not using a video. This is why i now prefer (and only for ease of use) the 18i20 and its Focusrite Control over the LS56. However the latter has really great preamps……. But you can’t win them all 👍 J
  6. There maybe some confusion here. MixControl is generally speaking used for both Focusrite legacy products and those using FireWire. Focusrite Control is for USB/Thunderbolt products, such as the 18i20 3rd Gen (i have the 2nd gen). I also have a Saffire LS56, which is f/w and have to use Mix Control with it. Focusrite stopped updating the Saffire Mix Control after W8 i believe. It will not work on W10 unless you install the Legacy f/w driver downloadable from MS. But, luckily for me, it does work without the said MS Legacy driver in W11 !!! There are instructional websites out there for installation of the MS diver. But its a lottery and not without glitches from time to time. I also have an 18i20 for which i have to use Focusrite Control and its driver (for W10 and W11). The Focusrite mixer is easy to use and rock solid (on my system). When i feel the yrge to use the LS56, i uninstall the 18i20 drivers and re-install the LS56 Mix Control. Its a pain and i don’t do it very often. I’ve never tried to use Mix Control on a Scarlett device. I wouldn’t. It may work but it’s not made for that product and anyway, will install the wrong driver. Me, i would stick with the correct driver/Software that is made for your product. YMMV J
  7. So its checking who you are (moot point) therefore a digital ID check. 😇😇 semantics. J
  8. Its just the way it is today, unfortunately. I’ve had my Disney, EA and other accounts hacked, and it was no fun getting them back. So now i embrace the F2A checks. If it stops crooks using my accounts then i’m all for it. I use the MS system like @Rain and after a year of changing / securing passwords etc i’m glad i have it and yet i still see 16 year old morons trying their best to get into certain accounts of mine and from all over the world. Kenny, YMMV, but i’m happy having it. J
  9. For those of us with a 1st or 2nd gen Scarlett unit here is the solution : https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/207546775-Does-the-Scarlett-range-have-loopback J
  10. Sign out via the help menu then close the app. make sure no browsers are open (Edge, Firefox etc) then re-open Sonar and sign in via the Help Menu. That should work. J
  11. Thats Sonar, not CbB ! The OP should use Cakewalk Product Centre it can handle off line authorisation. Yes i know, you have to be on-line to install it, but thats no biggie. J
  12. I tried to reply to you suggesting a registry clean up manually or with an app but my reply got the pink "needs to be approved" Good Luck, J
  13. Steinberg products, Fruity Loops (along with Magix) ………….. and no. They’re not better. They just take less long to get out of the registry 😜 J
  14. So do i. But what i said was a warning that the Magix driver will get installed, you like it or not. Took me 30mn to get rid of mentions of it in the Registry. J
  15. I updated my laptop to W11 - turned on TMP and Secure Boot in the Bios, and converted the HDD to gpt. The i5 processor failed the test though. Personally, I found the Rufus method long winded and not easy to follow. So I used this method : Insert a DWORD value in the registry. AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU And it worked. You can Google it at arstechnica.com. Of course, back up your registry first, and if you do take this route, its at your risk. What worked for me may not work for you. J
  16. I have updated to the latest version. It does not crash. Have you tried loading in Safe Mode thus by-passing any dodgy VST's ? Have you tried up-dating the redistribs ? Something maybe amiss with your OS (touchy subject I know but......). Unless you publish the details/recipe, how can anyone help you ? Or open a ticket with support and send them a crash dump, they can probably bail you out. Hope you get it sorted, J
  17. No I doubt it very much with these sort of deals ! Edited : this is a great deal ....... but it will install the nefarious Magix Low Latency Asio driver, beware. J
  18. Have you tried using the Advanced option of the installer or do you simply let it do its thing ? You don’t actually say. Personally I always choose Advanced so I can check where things go. And it works. J
  19. Grossly too expensive for me. And to be honest i don’t really need it. J
  20. I would have done it but the Miroslav Philharmonik 2 is the CE version……. The rest i don:t care about. J
  21. My 2nd gen 18i20 shows the same. But its not an issue for me. I ignore it. For me its more important what shows up when i select the input for each track : when i select the input for a track, the drop down selection allows me to choose my unit then expanding that unit entry further i can select Input 1 L, Input 2 R as mono tracks as well as Input 1+2 for a stereo track. Same for inputs 3&4 etc etc. Thats is where you choose your input. If i choose input 1L, for example, then that physical input will be recorded on that particular track when its armed. Nothing else. As long as you don’t arm any other tracks you’ll have no problems. I don’t need to rename the inputs, for me its clear what they are. YMMV J
