Anything You Find Confusing About CbB?
Jim Fogle replied to Craig Anderton's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
^^^^^ This! ^^^^^ Perhaps a lens versus screen set comparison. -
When making a video tutorial I must agree that the quote above is a key consideration. Having said that I admit I did not even remember the availability of the Export Module until Noel mentioned it. Perhaps Mike can append the video or add a comment in the video description to add a note that there is an Export Module.

I found this article on the Reuthers News Service https://www.reuters.com/article/us-fender-tech/guitar-maker-fender-hopes-to-rock-revenues-with-digital-song-learning-app-idUSKBN1X11S5 According to the article, if you place songs on Apple Music and your song is selected by the app, you get paid.

It's not a dumb question. If you don't know ask, that's what the forum is all about; users helping users. Some effects are designed to sound better in stereo than they do in mono. Chorus is a good example as it can accept a mono input signal but the output is almost invariably stereo. I'm sure others will chime in with their thoughts.

The easiest way is to use the smart tool to perform slip editing. Click on the track pane to move focus to the track. Move the cursor to the top corner of a clip. The cursor changes to a straight line with arrows. Left click and drag and a fade line will be drawn. Right click on the fade line to choose from a selection of fade types. Note: see pages 361 & 362 of the Cakewalk Reference Manual pdf file. That's where the photo was copied from. The reference manual is available for download by selecting the fourth link under the "Cakewalk by BandLab" tab at the top, left of each forum webpage. It's a great resource. I love how easy Audacity makes trimming a track. Cakewalk's about as easy, you just got to get used to it. One way is just like your doing, take one task you always perform in Audacity. Learn how to perform the same task in Cakewalk. Perform the task in Cakewalk until it's second nature.

@abacab Thanks for that. I forgot the utility existed. Once again, thanks.

My music is pretty bland and I'm not a keyboard player so it's all new to me. I just wish Xpand!2 included a standalone program. As a VST I find I'm having to learn using a VSTi in the DAW as well as the VSTi itself. It's been a interesting experience.

Soft synths is kind of a "new" tool I'm exploring. My musical tastes runs to Americana, classic country and soft rock and my main interest is learning audio production, not recording audio. So my heaviest time and money investment has been with PG Music's Band-in-a-Box and the RealTracks content. All that was said to say I really haven't explored soft synths in much detail. But now I want to learn more about using midi. Band-in-a-Box has a lot of midi content but the Coyote WT and Synthfont64 included as their "normal" soft synth and, at different times, SampleTank or Sforzando players to playback the "high quality" patches PG Music provides. I've messed with Sforzando and Synthfont some and I like using Sforzando but I want to branch explore a different interface and Xpand!2 is an inexpensive answer.

Question about Bandlab and audio interfaces
Jim Fogle replied to Noric's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Online BandLab uses coding specific to the Chrome browser. I suspect you recently had a Chrome update and may not even realize it. Many times Chrome updates as a background task and the update is not applied until the next time you open the browser. In addition to the BandLab support link scook provided, check out the Google browser forum here: https://support.google.com/chrome/community?hl=en -
Excellent photos. You guys look ready to rumble! I hope there is a lot of traffic through the booth. Love the back drop with all the affiliate names. In one photo it looks like there is a large "Cakewalk" sign above the booth?

@arlen2133, do any of us "need" most of what we want? No but I already bought it for $8.39 US before you tried to dissuade me! For me it is a tool I can use to learn how to use a non general midi standard multi-timbrel VSTi. That's my justification and I'm gonna' stick with it. I'm not looking forward to Black Friday. There is going to be too many "I wants" and not enough money. I have the same problem looking at food menus. That's why I love buffet restaurants! ?

Nice list overall. I must say there are more points raised that I agree with than disagree. You obviously put some thought into it and use Cakewalk by BandLab enough to bring comments from different modules together. Good "to do" list @Some Guy

Why can't I use Cakewalk TTS-1 for instruments?
Jim Fogle replied to Rick Rickoff's topic in Instruments & Effects
Wow, Xpand!2 is a 1.3 GB download in compressed format. That's a lot of multi-timbrel sounds. I just couldn't resist at $8.39 US. Thanks @Starship Krupa and @filo. Appreciate it guys.- 34 replies

TTS-1 Works In Old Projects But Crashes New Ones.
Jim Fogle replied to mdiemer's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
There never has been a TTS-2. My understanding is TTS-1 is a variation of an earlier Roland software sound module that Roland called HyperCanvas. Roland built it as an OEM product for Cakewalk. Both products replaced an even earlier software solution called Virtual Sound Canvas or VSC. The TTS-1 was first released in 2004. Roland currently has a competing retail product called Sound Canvas VA that sells for about $125 US. Read more about it here: https://www.roland.com/global/products/sound_canvas_va/ Roland also has a subscription model of the Sound Canvas VA. It is located here: https://www.rolandcloud.com/catalog/legendary/sound-canvas-va Yamaha also released a software based midi sound module but I don't know much about it except it existed but is no longer available. I suspect your TTS-1 files are corrupt. I would delete all my existing TTS-1 files from the computer, reboot the computer to clear memory then get a fresh download of CbB using BandLab Assistant. BandLab Assistant should see the files are missing and replace them. The easiest way to find the files and delete them is to use Windows File Explorer to search your primary drive using the search term TTS-1. -
Ever watch an orchestra give a performance? They use sheet music! Ever watch a marching band? They use sheet music too! Ever see photos of session musicians? They use lead and chord sheets too! Guitar Pro? Uses tab. I don't know music theory. I don't read music but I can read guitar chord diagrams to learn whatever chords I don't know in a song I'm not familiar with. Sheet music, chord tracks, etc are not everything but chord tracks can be significant workflow aids. Use to be you couldn't collaborate with musicians in different time zones, states, countries or continents but now you can. Anything that can help level the playing field so musicians with different skill sets and skill levels can collaborate is welcome in my mind.

Both of you, thank you for your posts. The more users that post of an issue in the same thread then the more information the developers can collect without having to spend time searching the forum.

TTS-1 Works In Old Projects But Crashes New Ones.
Jim Fogle replied to mdiemer's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Chances are your older projects were created with a 32 bit program. The Music Creator programs I started with are 32 bit and include a 32 bit version of TTS-1. Sonar was available in both 32 and 64 bit versions. The Sonar Command Center automatically downloaded whichever version matched your operating system. If your operating system was 64 bit Command Center allowed you to download both 32 and 64 bit versions. When you load both versions you also get 32 and 64 bit TTS-1. -
Oh Oh ... ? Some users are reporting an issue with fade after the hot fix. Judging from the reports it appears that whatever fade selection you used prior to the hotfix is the only fade selection that works.
