I've seen that APD have the IKM Tracks 5V2 on offer for $39 (£31 for me). But concerned that IKM will not honour it as they are pushing TRacks 6. I have TRacks 5 SE and don't need 6. But this would be a good one as I can use the individual modules in my DAW. Is APD right in selling this older version? Will IKM honour it?

PB have added a IKM TRacks Studio Bundle as a giveaway with purchase. Includes Space Delay, White Channel and Tape machine 440. Seems a goodie. However It doesn't state if they are TR5 or TR6. I only have TR5 and have heard there are issues with TR6 not recognising TR5 modules. I would grab these otherwise. Offer is until 29th Nov. https://www.pluginboutique.com/

Have to say that when I cloned my OS HDD to the Samsung EVO 860 about 2.5 years ago. I used the Samsung Magician software to do so. And it went without a hitch. Just read about a high failure rate just after the pandemic of the EVO870s (mostly 4TB). Due to shortages of materials and sourcing from outside their usual channels. Samsung never commented.

Hi All. A simple question. I'm tempted to update a Crucial 1TB SSD to 2TB Samsung EVO 870. This is my D drive (samples) out of three C - OS (Samsung 860 500)/D (Crucial MX500 1TB Samples - NI etc)/ E - Crucial MX500 1TB - none Kontakt full libraries etc. I had been aware of lots of issues with the 870EVO's (Mainly 4TB and about 2021-22 I think). Has anyone bought a 870 in the last year and is it ok?. It's on sale for £109 so much cheaper than usual. Just a bit concerned that things have not been addressed. And there is a lot of conflicting info out there. Many Thanks in advance.

With a choice of 45 or 47 frets. And designed for small hands. Embarrassing....

Fracture (with the Blueprint series), and Westwood and Heavyocity are producing some of the best free Kontakt instruments I think. They really are a lot of bang for no bucks.

Virtual instruments sometimes very quiet
TracingArcs replied to R. Hancke's topic in Instruments & Effects
It is quite common for the modulation wheel to be assigned to velocity/volume/expression in Kontakt. Try hitting a key and moving your modulation wheel. -
Does anyone have this. And give feedback. This fits my budget (low). And i write ambient/soundscape stuff. Thanks.

VoS (one of my fav devs) has updated TesslaSE to MK3. Incl VST3 (windows only). It's an analog style signal enhancer. I use it on busses. And adds a bit of "mojo" whatever that is. https://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/2024/10/24/tesslase-mkiii-released/

Rigid Audio has announced it is to close down on 1st Jan 2025. http://www.rigid-audio.com/ Don't know if there will be a blow-out sale (isn't there always?). But I've got some mileage out of his stuff. And got good prices and freebies.

No audio with Presonus studio24c drivers..
TracingArcs replied to _Dennis_'s topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I use a Presonus Studio 26C. Make sure you only select/use the Presonus ASIO. -

A little trick I have done many times. is to swap out randomly any vst. And again use a random sound from the new vst. EG I'm using a guitar vst. Swap it for a synth and the timbre, envelope, can change the "this has to be a guitar sound" thing. And thus put a new perspective on the work.

Just a bit of info. The Crowhill Company (Christian Henson ex of Spitfire). have dropped CodeMeter as it was causing issues. And it had inhibited sales due to reported issues.

Today I had a notification on Facebook that they will be using users posts to train their Meta AI on. You can submit an objection that will be "Considered". I objected on the basis that I put my own work on my FB pages such as songs and images that are copyrighted. And that I objected to their use for training as it has the potential for artists original work to be misused. And the result was that I was removed from all AI training. I know it is very small but feels like a little victory.

Worked for me too. Thanks !

Rigid Audio has set free another Kontakt 7.2 instrument. Interference is a drum/loop/noise instrument. (I'm sure this is not that old either) https://www.rigid-audio.com/products_interference.html

Where else do guys go for deals? (Not a deal, but deal-related)
TracingArcs replied to Lionel's topic in Deals
No it's not ! I live round the corner from Deal. It's bloody cold as the wind blows straight onshore from the North Sea and English Channel. Also known as Gods waiting Room. As it's a favourite place for retired folk. -
The excellent Variety of Sound (VoS) has released a new VSTplugin . FeenstaubTX is a transient exciter/expander. Available for Windows only and in VST3. Including resizable UI. preset management. https://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/blog/

I had the privilege of meeting and working with him many years ago. A really nice bloke. And willing to talk and share knowledge. RIP.

VT is an excellent human. And generous with his support. Regarding Decent Sampler. There is little available as simple to use as DS. However I have found that the VST3 version is flaky on Cakewalk. But the VST2 version is fine (no issues with VST3 on Studio One). Plus a lot of freebies in DS format on Pianobook, Dave Hilowitz and VT amongst others.

Jon Meyer (Somervillesounds) has released another freebie. Antiquarian Echoes. A Vst version of his original Pianobook instrument. But now with more sounds and editing in a Vst version. Large, lush ambient guitar pads. The video gives a good taste of its sounds. https://somervillesounds.com/the-antiquarian-echo/

Started my gig-going in the early 70's. Lots of King Crimson throughout that time and others like Colloseum (ended up being taught by John Hiseman for a year at Goldsmiths college), All the Mahavishnu Orchestra Uk dates in the 70s. The debut of Thin Lizzy. And the launch gigs of Roxy Music. Got completely high just breathing the air at Wembley with Hawkwind, Man, Pink Fairies and others. Most outstanding one was Wembley 75. On the bill - Elton John, The Beach Boys, Eagles, Joe Walsh, Rufus feat Chaka Khan, Stackridge. (the Beach Boys blew everyone off the stage). Then discovered the amazing live music scene in the pubs across London and the shock of seeing so many "names " sitting in with friends. Eg Phil Collins in a south london pub playing drums with an avant-garde jazz outfit.
