  1. Sorry Dave you don't look like a geek!? Besides a B3 player is the coolest cat around.
  2. Ok I see. I was confused that you might be trying to modify an MC. LOL?
  3. Dave wonderful post. One thing though is there is sometimes a transient that can have a very high frequency component. This can and does give a directionality to some low frequency sounds. A bass drum hit for example. Also the bouncing back of low frequencies is what produces standing waves. If you find one in your room, and you should be able to, you will find when the phase is right it gets louder with low frequencies. In the good old days standard practice was placing speakers in corners so one could use the three surfaces to increase the bass response. Because back then most tweeters were highly directional many would point the speakers inward a little.
  4. I'm unclear what this is for. Is it for an Mackie Control or your Nano Control? On the Mackie Control there is a bus button and a track button.
  5. I am not going to say what I really think but let me say this it sounds a bit like "advanced basket weaving" to me. Music technology is a very undefined subject. Its also a moving target. Nothing taught today with apply tomorrow. However, Bach would probably love such a course. I like Bach so.......
  6. Thats interesting Gswitz. I would think just the opposite. MIDI is tiny compared to nearly any other file size. Even in a cwp file. I wonder if it could be something else?
  7. Chuck I don't know what to say. You have always been a great friend.
  8. My mouse takes very little room. Its a Logitech G500 and it is completely adjustable. It works in a space no bigger then my hand. To go from the bottom right corner to the top left corner moves about less then 2 inches . Yet it is very easy to have fine control. Its corded though. They should have a cordless model that can do the same.
  9. I think it would be a hi shelf. You want the low freg. to pass through. Crossovers are to my understanding not adjustable unless they are electronic.
  10. Good advice Chuck. Mine is the original Mackie Control and it has never failed. It works with everything too. I paid $1200 for mine when it first came out. Actually I didn't. What happened is I paid that for a Logic Control and about a month later Apple happened. I mentioned to a fellow I knew at GC and he offered to replace it with a just out MC. I brought LC back and I got a new MC and haven't regretted it. I used to be the MC guru on the old forum until Fast Biker Boy came along. He helped a ton of people and made my time far easier. I thank him for his helping out. BTW no DAW uses all the abilities that an MC has.
  11. If it uses the Mackie Control protocol there should be a button to access the buses. On my MC there is.
  12. I am partial to the name Sonar but Cakewalk has history. Its not the name that matters but what it can do.
  13. If you read my first post here you would have an idea how to use it. Its what you change within the project that it will make note of. Adding tracks is not the same thing. That would require new scenes.
  14. I am a Sonar user and though its name has changed to Cakewalk it is my "fall back will do it there if I am serious" DAW. Yet I too looked around I went with Cubase 9.5 Pro. I have Mixbus, Samplitude and Studio One 4. I have been keeping up with it . For me I am most interested with MIDI and only Cakewalk and Cubase have the MIDI chops. Though Studio One is coming on strong. I did upgrade to Cubase 10 Pro. I like it but in many ways Cakewalk is better for so many things. Cubase has a lot of power but it also has bugs. Too many that are show stoppers. I must say I enjoyed reading this thread because I learned a lot. So many of you were candid and offer good reviews. Thank you for this thread and the quality of the posts.
  15. I think we have pretty much have everything we wanted in the old forum now implemented here. I am talking about the forum software. It seems to be our dream forum. Also it is really nice to see so many members from the old forum making it over here. However, if I may, if you are using a different name and or avatar would you mine placing you old user name in you new signature. You don't have to this it is just a suggestion. It is so good to see so many positive posts. Its like we got a very nice Xmas present we all can share.
  16. Yes me too. It may not be available yet. I'm rather surprised and please how quickly the Staff seems to follow through.
  17. I'm for this . Its very handy to see which thread one has posted in.
  18. I don't know how it would have anything to do with this forum. If you had a large post count on the old forum and it were brought over here it says nothing about how helpful one has been here. In fact it could be mistaken for quality. If it were done it maybe appropriate to note where it came from.
  19. Hi Dave. We seem to meet in the nicest places.
  20. I don't think you need to worry much about your hardware working with Windows 10. The only thing to really consider is does your hardware have windows 10 drivers. If it does you can upgrade for almost nothing if you are thoughtful about finding the best deal.
  21. I guess I'm from a computer time when it was essential to wait until everything was done before moving on to doing something else. Example , I stop playback to make any change. Many users like to work on things as the project is playing. Many think its waisting time not to. I have found doing things in a rush can often end up costing a lot more time.
  22. In Driver Settings select your tascam. This should let you select its own drivers. What I do is use my internal sound card for Windows media and general sounds. For my DAW I use my M16 DX .
