OK maybe there is a language problem. I'm simply not understanding you at all. What I wrote 10 years ago has nothing to do with your thread. Besides D is for the dock. That thread from so long ago it has no meaning. I am trying to help you get across your ideas to improve the keybinding by asking you to be more detailed about what you want. Bringing up a very old thread that has nothing to do with this or you isn't helping.

Thanks for the animated picture. I just checked it out in Cakewalk and you are right . It should grow and shrink as one zooms in and out.

OK that link goes to a page which is not working. What I'm asking is what is it you don't like about the keybinding in Cakewalk? I have found it easy to use and very useful. If you want improvements listing them in a rational order and with enough detail for the the developers to have some idea what you are asking for would help greatly.

How about a picture. I don't know what is being said here.

I wish I knew what you are talking about.

Right General MIDI 2 is the full name. My view is it seems we are only interested in GM in relation with a DAW. I am not talking about patches but how we use MIDI. Nor did I see anything in the documents that says anything about how it will impact a DAW. To me most softsynths have their own way of using MIDI. They don't follow the GM spec. I also have a Rolond 5080. I really like that box.

On my SC 8850 is is marked with MIDI2. Also GS. MIDI 2 in those days took GZ and XG and incorporated them into what was called MIDI 2. It also upped the number of patches from 128 to 256. Yes it was GM. The SC 8850 has over 1500 accessible patches. That is based on GS though.

So what about the old MIDI 2? My Sound Canvas 8850 is a MIDI 2 device. Also if there was a MIDI 2 why are they calling this one MIDI 2?

PM me with your Email and I will send a bunch to you.

What sample rate are you recording at (and recommend)?
John replied to Christian Jones's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
That is an absurd point. No one can hear 22.05 kHz nor is it important to music. Why not ask for showing a 50 kHz wave when 44.1 is meant to only go to 20 kHz. Its just as pointless. Believe what ever you want. -

I f that were true it would sound like a square wave. Have you ever looked at a 20 kHz wave form on an oscilloscope that was after it was converted to digital? It is not a square wave. -

According to your logic 20kHz can not be reproduced with a sample rate of 44.1. We know it is. How do you explain that? -
As you know I was an early adopter of X1. I at first look did not like it. It was only after I read the manual and did a lot of research did I come to "get it". I saw X1 as a new beginning that would lead to a great GUI. Admittedly X1 wa not as complete 8.5 was but it had a lot of room to grow. After they got the PC (Pro Channel) squared away it became a great DAW. With Platinum we were in a time of hectic improvements and additions. By this time everything that had been in 8.5 was also in Sonar. With the change in OS and going 64 bit. Sonar was very much already able to take advantage of the new technology. I run Windows 10 Pro updated when ever it wants to. Is everything perfect? No but it is far and away better than it used to be. Win 10 runs rings around previous Windows. Bandlab's Cakewalk runs rings around all the past Sonar versions. They have made a massive effort to fix bugs and make it a very stable DAW. I think your post Cactus is one of the best on this subject because it speaks to those who are hesitant to embrace Cakewalk.

Very neat indeed.

I don't know what is truly available. However it may be that 32 bit DACs are here. https://www.themasterswitch.com/best-dacs I have read that Yamaha has a 32 bit audio interface. I have not checked it out. Nor can I swear such a thing is on offer. Its just what I have read. -
I will answer a question if I know the answer and no else has gotten to it first. I like it when a poster has tried to find the answer but couldn't. That is not essential but it goes a long way in having a positive view of the poster. I also remember a few that admitted they didn't want to read the manual. I do remember starting out and at that time there were no forums anywhere. In those days I bought books and read them. What I have observed through the years is people are eager to help when a new poster asks a question with a bit of humility. Its not a requirement but it helps. Questions asked require time for someone to answer and it helps a lot if a thank you is offered. One of the biggest advantages of a forum is if an answer is wrong it will be corrected quickly. I like to think we each have each others back and will come in to make sure no misinformation is left unchallenged. Even though I have a good knowledge of Sonar/Cakewalk I learn something nearly everyday. I have learned to be a bit more diplomatic through the years. I'm still working on that. The whole notion of people gathering in a place to have an interchange of ideas and answer questions and encourage others is fundamentally a wonderful idea. The fact that it is only as far away as ones computer screen is a huge advantage. It should be stated that this place is not a requirement. It has been provided by Bandlab to do all the above. We as members of this forum need to keep in mind this place is a gift freely given for our benefit. We need to keep it clean and unsullied.

I too record at 24 bits and 44.1 sample rate. However, there are now audio interfaces that can record at 32 bits FP. If you have one of these I would record at 32 bits. -
Thanks for the heads up Larry.

I thought about all the people that would like a high quality DAW and simply could not afford one. I am a very long time user of Sonar and now Cakewalk. I paid for every upgrade version. I am proud that my favorite DAW is still available and anyone can afford it. In a big way its something I can get behind and support. I too thank the Bandlab team. I also thank my fellow users for keeping the faith and staying the course. They too have been an important part of the success of the new and better Cakewalk by Bandlab.

Actually we are on certain ground. Have you been unable to download Cakewalk? Are you using it? Is it working ? If all the answers are yes. That would mean to me that speculating with no basis to do so is unproductive.
-
I think we can complain when we can no longer open Cakewalk. Until then the notion that we are renting, leasing or somehow not in control of getting Cakewalk and using it; we should simply stop speculating and make music. To me when they said it is free I have no reason to think otherwise. No one else does either.

To me the definition of stem is a group of audio tracks. This has always meant to me a bus was involved. If on the other hand one wants to copy all the tracks as independent tracks the way I do it is select all tracks and don't mixdown. I export them. I also use broadcast wave files as the files output. This with ensure everything lines up in another DAW.
