  2. My immediate sense when I A/B the two mixes was where did the low end go.
However, jumping back and forth its not that big a diff some much in the low end; just different.
For me, the vocal has to come up; but this genre, your tune, your production...

think it would benefit from being shorter.

Three minute Rocker here, so there's that.
Can't comment on the the earlier mixes.
There's some "harshness" on the guitar going into "Its a brand new day". (steel finger picks?)
You're trying to get some "jangle" there?
Gary's mix sounds a bit "muffled" listening to it on OneDrive (I did not download it).

Great tune, so some big ?'s!

  4. I’m listening in the van, so take this with a grain of salt. The bottom is a bit boomy. Maybe it’s the sustained bass notes. Maybe some judicious use of high pass filtering.
    Great tune, so ?‘s here!

  5. I'm assuming you mean where do forum members "host" their songs?

A quick review shows overwhelmingly its SoundCloud.
However YouTube, SoundClick, BandLab, BandCamp all get an "honorable" mention.

If you're looking for additonal resources of where to post for peer review, or exposure to listening audiences:
well, I don't have any recommendations on that...

  7. I think this is the "prettiest" tune you've posted Jack.
So a big ?'s from me!
Better never late, but better late than never...

Gents (and ladies) I helped Jack with the master (notice the small "m") on this one.
If you'll remember early on Jack got his mixes a bit "hot", lately they've been very clean, but a bit below commercial level.
So let us know if we've got the level up without squishing the bejesus out of it, or driving it into the red...

  8. There's a lot of "congestion" in the middle of the stereo field, and low end mud.

    Fun one though!

Take a look at Mike's video Kick and Bass Side Chain, maybe that will help a bit on the low end.
Some high pass filtering on the guitars and keys might also help.
Generally I high pass most tracks, some feel you can get carried away with it, but I think it tends to help.
Even an open E chord on guitar can stand some pretty aggressive high pass. The fundamental of that low E
really isn't what "defines" the timbre of an electric guitar (IMHO). Ignore what it sounds like "soloed", its how
it sounds in the mix that matters...
Reverb can stand quite a bit of High and Low pass as well.
