  1. TRS to XLR working fine here. Never had an issue, and I pass along the 48v with it all the time… t
  2. Happy with my R121 and my AEA88. Both are superb on many sources including vocals. @Bapu is your R84 still your go to? t i would caution tho, I am the one who recommended RME; so there is that (still smarting a bit at the way RME has failed you…)
  3. Add me to the “list”, much impressed! thanks for sharing the links, must check it out. Pretty sure @Jerry Gerber would award high marks! t
  4. My original piano instructor evidently spent much time performing in such establishments in his youth in Chicago. I made the mistake of asking my father “are the stories that Mr Williams tells about playing speakeasies true?” That ended that… Great tune Keith, really cool how the vocal comes in after the solos dry. Very effective. What sax libraries are you using. Man you are “close”. Getting great sax is tough! ?&? t putting the kibosh on the Williams stories prompted me to NOT report the 8mm porn that played during the last set of most the college frat gigs we played when I was in junior high and high school. Not to mention no one seemed to care if we hit the keg during breaks. Lesson learned…
  5. Little heavy on the kick on the Bose cans, but they “hype” the low end way too much. Enjoyed t

    NORWAY!

Exactly what I thought. Lovely ambiance as well. Ready enjoyed the video. ?&? t
  7. No issues with the EVO’s here. 250, 500, 1tb and 2tb . Been using them for years. t
  8. Note: @mark skinner & @AndyB01 it’s worth a second trip thru for the guitar solo. t
  9. Heartfelt performance. UCX on this vocal? t
  10. Kick is fine on the Bose cans, but must agree the snare is not prominent. Enjoyed the tune! t
  11. Enjoyed, plenty of good advice, so I’ll just ? t
  12. @CostaRicaCarl Hit “P” that will open Prefrences select Driver Settings as shown above. Verify that the Edirol is the “timing master” for record and playback. Top of the right hand section. That should get you going. McCleod mentioned that, but not how to do it. Let us know if that works. t
  13. A lovely Valentines gift to be sure. t John, if I’m honest, I would want at least a take up bar prior to the vocal; it’s a bit abrupt IMHO.
  14. Spent a lovely week on the Outer Banks once. My wife is what I refer to as a “horse girl “ so much time was spent pursuing the indigenous ponies. IIRC one did not walk barefoot to the sand as the paths were loaded with what her Auntie referred to as “foot-fers”! t
  15. On the Bose cans the melody line is a bit “buried” in the mix here. Much enjoyed, but I think I will hold the “like”; my guess being we’ll see one more mix. t
  16. ? First time thru I have to admit the slapback on the vocal was a little distracting, but by the second verse I was “tuned in”. (I too loves me some “slapback”). Maybe a couple of db increase on the vocal would be a good “compromise”. Overall high marks on storytelling and execution. Loves me some Jimmy Reed rhythm and blues. What is a catalog that Does Not include an Elmore James quote? A boring catalog? Bluesabilly on my friend!!!! ? t
  17. Listening on the phone and Bose cans today. Sounds good here. Verse 1&3 a little light on the vocal, but contrast well with the jump in intensity in 3 (and 4; right). So I would think all is as it should be. If sitting in the producer’s chair, there are some things I would want to try with the “Yes I will” Overall ? ‘s and ? t would have added a “like” over at SC, but for some reason SC hates my phone
  18. Presently on the road, limited time and internet access; but I will get to it! t lots of “Toms” on the forum. “Little t” is a moniker left over from my youth, I was “little t” until I was out of “knee pants”; but I was “t” to my father until the day he died.
  19. I ain’t superstitious, but a black cat cross my trail… bad luck ain’t got me so far, not gonna let it stop me now just sayin’ t
  20. Hey Ron, First let me say welcome to the forum (I should have done that already). My role here, at least as I see it, is to be something of a "cheerleader". Hand out a few "atta boys" and "listen"; offering when I can, what I hope is constructive crits. I mentioned "hearing the bass fine" to establish that the 990's were giving me a "decent" low end. I asked Ed (Bapu) to have a listen (that is a good one, and a hearty ?'s there! no sarcasm intended... and by placing the @ sign in front of his name he received a "heads up") because this is much more in his wheelhouse than mine. "How is my mix on your system" is a common question here, so "my ears, my cans" the bass is perfect, but the kick is a bit undefined. Is there some "masking" going on? Do you need to add a "sample" to amp up the kick? Not an uncommon practice; but I don't know. Its all about "translation", and all I can do is let you know what I'm hearing here, put that into perspective (tired 70 year old, tinnitus addled ears), and you have to take that info and weigh it against what you are hearing, in the mix and in feedback from others. So again, welcome to the forum, enjoyed the tune and look forward to more. t
