Is Cakewalk gaining users/popularity with Bandlab?
Kurre replied to Feral State Sound's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Video was mentioned. Be aware that not all people like manual on video better than manual to read. I'm one of them that always search for helpful things to read. When i see or hear something interesting i often go into "meditation mode". When that "mode" is over and it's time to go on with the material a video has moved on and has to be rewind but with text you just go on from where you left it. PS. My sister is the opposite. She could read a manual for hours and don't get it. I'll come over and do it one time as she watch and she gets it right away. -
Whatever it is, in Sweden you need a glass for it.

Noob Question About Changing a Project Name
Kurre replied to razor7music's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
If i want to rename a project but don't want to change anything else. Is it "save as" and delete folder that's the given action? -
It is a little bit fishy that it says 36 voters grading it as a very good product. When you search for those voters you can't find them. The place where you grade the product is empty.

Is there someone that use Gearslutz and Bedroomproducersblog or other where they have a subforum for daws? What we are looking for are newbies. If CbB would gain users it should be noticeable by newbies asking questions about CbB in those places. -
how to export a mid track as a midi (.mid file)?
Kurre replied to Michael Martinez's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
It sounds like you have audio in your project. A midifile can not have any audio in it. -

Ok. To improve my reputation i would like to get us back on topic. I have been lurking KVR forum for some time now. Covering the lifetime of CbB. In their one synth challenge and the music cafe they sometimes say what daw they used to create the song. You seldom see CbB mentioned there. It's on an constant low. In subforums where they discuss daws it's also on an constant low in mentioning CbB. -
How do I provide feedback about this community itself?
Kurre replied to Jesse Jost's topic in Frequently Asked Questions
Well, my guess is that it have something to do with Spam control. How many likes did you do? I'm thinking of cutting down on visits myself. -

Ok. The post indirectly pointed to be a person that is not lazy and smarter than others. My responding post was a waste of time. It went miles over your head. I'm sorry. -

What i know is only what i read about it and the fact that when i had problems with vst in CbB it worked ok in R. It seems you have to spend some hours to get to grips and set the settings to your liking and then it should be logical. To start up a vst and play it/them was easy and logical and it was the first time i opened R. You know "glancing" mean that it's still in the theoretical phase. On the downside is that, so far, i can't find a step sequenser in R. -

I get these terrible vibes that CbB developers got writers block. Hope they find better sources to lend their ears to. I also hope everybody have think things over and understand that to gain users, that's gonna stay, you have to do CbB more userfriendly. Lazyness is a global personality thing. Make things easier to do and to understand. Keeping track of hundreds of shortcut keys or use, maybe 30 sticky notes, to remember workarounds is not things lazy people do. PS. You see, i have used CbB since start and like the free ride because i have extremely low income but... Even if it's free i keep getting annoyed on things like why it's working in,for me, a non logic way or missing logical bits to accomplish something. So i'm glancing at Reaper and Mulab. But i probably should thanks for forcing me to learn a proper daw. DS. Thanks. -
In the plugin browser there's different colors for the instruments. White color seem to relate to vst3 and yellow color being vst2. Have i got this right? Searched the pdf for yellow but found nothing relevant.

I did a test and assigned midinotes to the columns and used the step sequenser to play the notes that in turn played the columns. It worked. But as mentioned there's no way to get an indication that says when a sample/sound is done playing.

How can I make the music louder and keep the good quality?
Kurre replied to girldairy's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
So...no one cares about overtones. Interresting. It's the overtones that makes the timbre - tone color. Normalize increases everything. The good overtones and the bad distortion. You keep the timbre the same. Mixing and mastering effects increases some parts and decreases other. You change the timbre. If there's clipping you've done something wrong with the normalize. Check settings. -
Mongolian metal is the shit. ?

It was enough to go to file menu and export. But hey!! They crammed in an export module in an already crowded gui. Ooh, beautiful logic. ?
-
When you, and me, do that it leaves the project name in the recent file list in file menu. You'll have to open the registry editor and delete it there. Do you feel comfortable to delete things in windows registry?
-
No. You can make a group and the tracks in the group all react the same to changes. Is there two of that?
-
I have studied the pic and it seems the first "nowtime" stops at track 19 and the second coninues on for more tracks. Do you have two groups of tracks? Honestly, i don't know if grouped tracks would behave like that. Just a guess.

As you yourself notice there is people who love music but don't know the do's and don'ts. If you get one of those in on the collaboration you'll get fed up with having to continously delete bad suggestions to get back to the last functional version. So you have your own project and can copy tracks, clips and whatnot from each other. All this would be live action with an inbuilt chat client. Fun and more social than the web action. As a newbie you start with the web stuff. Then move on to CbB. Bandlab songs produced and forkable could be the start for CbB LIVE collaboration. All this isn't easy to accomplish but, i think, is technical doable. AND Cakewalk by Bandlab would be the worlds first to accomplish this. -

Maybe they are stuck on ideas? Then here's mine. Forget about dumbing down the daw to fit the web. Make CbB able to sync to another CbB over the internet. A collaboration would be 3 or 4 CbB's synced together. Each participant open a project and make that sync with the others. In CbB you have to allow more than one project open at the same time. In my CbB i would be seeing my own project and 2 or 3 other projects which i could copy from to my own project which would be resynced and updated to the others. Obviously the sync process have to check that everyone use the same setup. Plugins, and other tools, that isn't the same for evereyone would have to be blocked. Just an idea. Can't help myself, they pop up and have a life of their own.? -
It would be nice to have an option in either File menu or Project menu to delete a project instead of just closing it. The delete need to take away everything associated with that project, including the register keys of it in "recent file list".

This forum is like a wishlist. We post about things we wish to see in CbB. Feedback has to do with how many "likes" your post get. More "likes" bigger chance of realization.
