Reaper nuked Cakewalk? - SOLVED - Sountoys Update Problem
chris.r replied to HOOK's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I had to test it myself remembering that I just recently updated to the latest 5.4.1 as well and sure enough I can only put max 2-3 Soundtoys VST3 plugins in a track before I get regular glitches while I can put 10 or more VST2 plugins instead and playback keeps smooth, just a short buzz on stop (or when clicking on TWEAK button to extend the GUI). -
I have Lites and Gig, both at v2.0.24. Don't know exactly when has the update to v2 happened but IIRC, I was confused with two ways of installation after the purchase, sent them an email and got a quick and helpful reply so my experience is very positive. Oh yeah that's a shame.

It's a bit of an irony that this voice is coming from a country known from having one of the most liberal market (I'm playing a little game with you on this, please don't take it seriously at all, LOL). I think nobody is going to do anything about it as this will be easily qualified as low social harm . Besides I've bought a few libraries for very low price so I have no right to complain!

I bought Broadway like a year or two ago, had a nice quick email exchange with support, saw there was an update so it looks like and gives impression as being kept well maintained.

that was my point (OTOH anyone can price their product the way they like FWIW, AFIK, AFICT, etc etc)

one could say they are loosing too much money on this deal

Thanks. Your NUC specs seems amazing comparing to my bit older hp elitedesk mini with 6th gen i7 and your intel UHD is again much better than mine, and still my lovely little box is quite capable even today. You should expect it smashing awesome with the Cakewalk/Scarlett tandem assuming both video and audio drivers are fine. I'm pretty sure you did check if you didn't accidentally hit the Pause/Break button on your keyboard.

How record B-3X using 2 keyboards into one track?
chris.r replied to Doug Steinschneider's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
You should be able to set your keyboards to output MIDI channel 1, 2 or 3 respectively, and the instrument track input in Cakewalk to omni or all inputs (none should work too) and all should be fine. You also might want to check though if bouncing your recorded MIDI track to audio works fine once there are any swell pedal or leslie fast/slow changes in it, cause the last time I tried it didn't work properly and I haven't seen it fixed since by the IK team. -
For strumming editor I'd say it's already quite (r)evolutionary on it's own and there's not much wrong with it, in my experience. It's bit limited in how many patterns are in one preset (6). And we can't move the strokes slightly off the grid to give it more human feel, except with the swing, strumming tempo/time and some 'humanize' settings that I found in the SETUP that sometimes might help a little. But there's still that mechanical feel that's sometimes hard to overcome. Manual strumming could be the solution but there are missing dead/muffled/muted (don't know exactly how to describe it) strokes, on the left side, and that alone makes it unusable for live MIDI recording, unless I'm still missing it somehow. I see there are other articulations right, on the other spectrum of the keyboard, but again, you can't just skip around the whole keyboard to play chords (blue keys) and the strokes (yellow keys on both sides of the chords range) at the same time, so mouse editing afterwards is necessary. Soundwise OTS libraries are killer, and in strum mode only some articulations are too soft. I for example have tried replicating a flamenco strumming with the Nylon library, but some slaps/chokes/hits are still too light and there for me it was still lacking some realm. Pls note I'm talking about the last few percent to the 'immaculate effect' missing... For soloing it's amazing though, from another room my wife thought I had bought a real gitar!

Another good candidate would be Fable Sounds Broadway Big Band or Broadway Gig, quite playable these are although I would expect the VHorns to be even more, but obviously out of price range for me too. A responsible use of Session Horns could give you bit of this Jerry Hey-esque type of sound . I used to have a good experience with Yamaha's VL-synthesis giving me very convincing brass section, unfortunately I have sold the BC3 controller. Let us know your findings!

Anyone with Cakewalk had spotted the same issue with broken CC# assignments after updating to 1.7, like in the VI-Control thread? Maybe they were just a corner cases.

Reaper nuked Cakewalk? - SOLVED - Sountoys Update Problem
chris.r replied to HOOK's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I had similar issues when I installed Studio One Prime and ran it before firing up Cakewalk, there was severe driver conflict but couldn't find a way out other then reload the whole Windows session. I had both Cakewalk and Reaper portable running fine though. One thing you might want to check is if you did install ReaRoute along with your Reaper and it did somehow get in conflict with Cakewalk. -
None. Many of us entered group buys from a deal from a vendor. They did exclude APD deals item on one of their previous groupbuys after finding out there is a sale on APD, announcing it after the sale started and not honoring the transactions passed through, effectively screwing up those who bought it already for that reason.

I thought about the same, if there wasn't any change to the name of the folder and it's exactly same as the plugin previously it could be that cakewalk didn't scan the new plugin inside the folder as it didn't recognized there was a change. What I would do is pull out just the dll plugin file out of the cakewalk vstplugins folder for a few secs and wait until cakewalk scans and reports there was one plugin removed (or click the scan button if you have automatic scan disabled) then put it back and wait for rescan again. Unfortunately I'm not buying the piano so I won't touch anything for now to stay away from troubles. So I can't try it myself to validate this method.

I'm missing only one t-racks piece so I'm out of this group buy. But if they will come up with instruments pick&mix then I'm interested.

Thanks! Did they do all the necessary tests, before rolling out any new version, only for MacOS??? ?
