Lovely, going to check out the elements then! Cheers.

yeah that one impressed me by miles it has got an algorithm like from a top notch cleaning software, there was a buzz on a whole recording, most probably from a broken wire or maybe a ground loop, I had luck I started to record quite early and there was good sample of it at the beginning, it cleared it as there was never any buzz before and the quality of the rest was intact, really impressive I reckon the assistant is a feature of any version above elements?

I'd like to ask similar question. Back some years ago I saw a denoise app bundled with Nero disc burning software, with it I was able to sample just the noise profile for example at the beginning or end of a recording and the app has simply extracted the noise/buzz information from the recording without any side effects, it was perfect! Maybe that was using a spectral method idk. My question is, can RX Elements do the same or should I go with the full version (assuming it has that function)? Thx.

Adding Highs That Aren't There - AD -SOLVED-
chris.r replied to razor7music's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
That wouldn't create anything new though, just increase what's there already. A saturation effect can add upper harmonics to hihats. Parallel track with high pass and then saturation would be a great idea, yes. -

Not sure what you mean here, you should be able to do both, control the synth with cakewalk's automation when you playback the synth track, and also live from a hardware controller either directly over track's midi input or through ACT. Just remember to keep the input monitoring (echo) on, or simply give focus to the synth track for live use. To make 2 or more faders work in crossfade mode or "at different ranges", in Group Manager set them either to custom or RELATIVE mode and set their start/end values respectively. Can't see a reason why you couldn't group more than 2 tracks and set them to move freely according to how you program them, it should work without a hiccup. Didn't try it but you can probably select few tracks then hold the ctrl key and add one track to the group. They should all be set to the group now.

The automation in cakewalk is working all fine. You can control virtual instruments in cakewalk live from an external controller just need to grasp a bit the way routing audio and midi is done here. You can for example make volume changes of two different instruments at once, for that you need to set midi input of both instrument tracks to the same midi controller but set a different midi channel (or different control change number) for each, AND enable echo (monitoring - the blue one on each track) ON BOTH instruments tracks. Now you can control both instruments volume from a hardware that can send on two midi channels (or two different cc#). You can also do crossfades, for that either make a group of two volume faders (right click on the faders and add both to the same group) then choose group manager and set one of the faders to custom mode and reverse start/end values. Now change the volume of one fader (of the group) from external midi controller and the other fader will move in opposite direction. You can also midi-learn the faders.

I think the clip gain handle there is the blue one in the middle.

With zoomed max try to click at bar 2 to place the now time there, or drag the clip a few samples around and try to place back at bar 2.

All I can say is that I had most of the issues above in 32-bit Sonar for years, so just to confirm.

So... do I stand correct or corrected? Hmm
-
LOL yes, I had it wrong it seems

I think you can ctrl + click near the beginning or end of selection to adjust. After you edit From/Thru=Now you can click on desired track number to select only that track portion again... I think.

I don't have Cakewalk installed at the moment, but I think you need to select or lasso-select in the controllers pane. At any rate, there's always Proces > Velocity in menu tools. Select desired notes and process them with this. Another option is mfx, and you can change desired note's velocity with it on the fly.

In Sonar there was a problem when selecting a group of clips and then if I wanted to drag-move or copy the bunch but in the meantime while already holding the selection with a mouse I realized that for instance I've forgot to switch the snap settings, on or off, then when I click escape on the keyboard the whole selection always returns to the one clip only that was clicked and thus loosing the whole selection, often very carefully made and with passion(!) . That was always kinda off-putting to me. Didn't have the occasion to check yet, but if Cakewalk exhibits the same behaviour, maybe it's worth making it keep the selection, for more flawless editing experience?

Glad to hear it worked! By holding ctrl key + selecting or lasso-ing clips you can freely select any clips you want for a bounce, this is very handy. Also, if I'm going to use siblings, I often keep midi data in separated clips even if they overlap, for more freedom. For example in a one bar midi drum loop I tend to keep hihats, kicks, snares and the rest in separate clips. When I copy clips down the arrangement I make sibling copies, different for each section of the arrangement (I give them different names like verse1, verse2 etc). Then I can mix them freely to make the rhythm progressive and if anytime I want to make a slight change in the groove I edit only one of the clips and all the sibling clips will reflect that change immediately, no more need for tedious rearranging or copy/pasteing .

Lasso select clips and bounce always worked best for me.

I'm not trying to be someones advocate but from other forum topics I could see that Alexey was open to colaborate on connecting new hardwares to Cakewalk as long as the owner is ready for some work. Not sure he's doing that stuff anymore but I thought for myself once I'll buy the icon I'll keep the opportunity to work with him as the last resort if anything else fails. One thing I particularly like about his software is that it's highly configurable and if I've read it right (and I've read it quickly) you can use some combinations of buttons to ignite custom functions of the DAW from it. With this option I would love to make the icon control the pro channel and plugins.

I just wanted to say in advance a thank you for any updates on this topic. I'm keeping my eye on the Platform M quite some time already, really would like to see it working with Cakewalk. Was wondering if the azslow software would be any helpful for connecting this controller...?

Thanks guys. I'm less interested in the arranging/composing tools and more in detailed MIDI data manipulation. From the comparison I can read that the famous logical editor is available only in pro version. Although I already had a few conversations on the differences between Cubase and Cakewalk I still can't quite figure out what is the advantage over Cakewalk in terms of MIDI editing, maybe it's the logical editor, maybe something else. In Cakewalk we have interpolate and cal scripts for example. Also didn't see much benefits from having Elements over LE version, mostly track count and more inputs for simultaneous recording.

Thanks abacab! I was suspecting they have got replaced with the Base version.
-
Am I loosing much of the excellent MIDI tools (whatever they are) if I go for Cubase Elements instead?

Guys, in 2015 I've got so called Blocks Wired from NI as a xmas gift. Still didn't try it out. What does that one differ from the Blocks you're talking above? Is it something obsolete now, or replaced with this new Blocks? Thx
