Somehow I knew which way this was gonna go............. Maybe Larry could record himself reading out the deals each day and post them in audio format to save anybody having to read the words themselves? That seems reasonable, right? I don't remember that, but it's a funny kind of test to come up with..... did anyone ever spread jam on their LP's before playing them ? Did the jam degrade the vinyl in any way ? Surely we need comparative figures if we're trying to show that the new format is better ? I guess it must have been inspired by a friend's kid that once fed several half eaten soggy biscuits to my VCR before anyone thought it might be an idea to intervene. Hmmm.... I remember when CD's were touted as unscratchable and that they would play no matter what you did to them - yes you could throw them around, get them wet, even use them as coasters for your hot beverage and they would always still be fine....... I may have bought a few over the years that were probably better used as a coaster, but that's a different story.......

That's the bit that bothers me about it - a fair chunk of disk space for freebies (that Klang aside I usually never end up using beyond the initial try out). I guess it's easy enough to try a few, but having just spent some time getting rid of clutter, I didn't want to just replace it with other clutter.

I've never bothered downloading any of the Labs stuff - am I really missing anything? I mean really, not just because it's free.

He sounds like a guy I once saw in a hospital while visiting someone. The guy in the next bed thought his bed was a Ferrari and spent all his time making car noises while "driving" it. The constant noise was really annoying, so I told him that it was just a bed and not a car and he stopped doing it. Surprisingly, this greatly annoyed the guy I was visiting and when I asked what the problem was he said "why did you tell him that .....? He pays me £10 every time I wash his car for him !"
