  1. Hi all. As I've mentioned before, I use the SS a lot for my drum tracks. Several virtual "instruments" have pretty decent drum kits, and I've set up SS templates for their use with MIDI (see screenshot) However, I have built up quite a large library of percussion sounds in WAV format, and want to know if there's any way to map WAV clips to keys of the MIDI keyboard to enable me to use them in my SS as well? If not, I think it would be a cool feature to add to Sonar. Lastly, what platform is recommended to post my music made in Sonar, for feedback? Thank you.
  2. I see what you mean. The fact that both clips have the same instance ID [2] led Sonar to believe that both are the same. So, I checked "Unlink Step Sequencer Clips" before copying it, and that solved this issue, thanks! In this new template, the clip velocities behave normally again. But, it still doesn't explain why the kick still plays back even while being muted in the original project.
  3. Hi, I use the SS a lot for my drum tracks, but every now and then it behaves weirdly and unpredictably. In my current project, I have a simple SS clip with only a kick and tambourine, but no matter what velocity changes I made to the Kick, it remained the same loudness. I even muted it (screenshot 1), and miraculously, it still plays audibly! (I made 100% sure there was no other hidden track with a kick in it). For further testing, I copied this clip to one of my templates (Screenshot 2, track 17), which already has two drum tracks (tracks 15, 16) that contain SS clips. NOW it is getting even weirder: when I double-click the newly pasted SS clip (tr 17) for editing, it displays the content of the Main Percussion track (tr 16). And when I close the SS editor, then suddenly the new test clip (17) has the same properties as the clip in track 16 (screenshot 3)! Can anyone guess why this would be happening? The drums used are from one of the old Cakewalk TTS-1's drum tracks.
  4. If you click once on an Arranger section header, it should select everything across its width, and then you can duplicate, copy or drag it to a new location.
  5. Yup -- this worked! It just happened to me again, and I followed your advice. Thank you!
  6. Hi all. Occasionally, Sonar refuses to restore itself from a minimized state to a full window. For some reason, when I switch to another program and try to switch back, Sonar refuses to be restored. I tried various methods; even Alt + Tab does nothing when Sonar is selected. And it is still running. It even displays a pop-up mini screen if I hover the mouse over the thumbnail in the taskbar. (see screenshot). The best thing I can do is Ctr +Alt+Del to force quit and restart. The only thing is, I have lost some work as a result. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm on Windows 10.
  7. Good news: I installed the vsti 3 version, and no more crashes. Thanks for the advice.
  8. No, I have the vst 2 version. That's good news -- I'll see if I can install the vst 3 if it makes a difference. Regarding your 2nd question: not sure what you mean by "rewired."?
  9. The buffer size was 192, but I brought it down to 64. My understanding is that a smaller size works better for realtime playback.
  10. Well -- what do you know! I'm using Sytrus, but The Riser is the only other plugin in this product. Thank you very much. So I should send the mini dump file to AirMusic then? I should mention that I've used the Riser with many other synth plugins in other projects without issues.
  11. Unfortunately it looks like there's only a VST 2 version. I checked it with an FL Studio staff member. Pity, this is such a great synth.
  12. Hi all. I'm using Fruity Loops' Sytrus 3 vst synth and it has a lot of great sound presets. However, several of them always cause Sonar to crash as soon as I start playing (even if it's only one note). The crash note always states an "Access violation" (see screenshot). I installed and tested this on another PC of mine with Cakewalk on, and there was no problem! In terms of specs and performance, this PC is not any better either. I changed the oversampling settings inside Sytus, but that didn't seem to make a difference.
  13. It can be beneficial for a band, say, for the guitarist.
  14. Hi, two requests, please: 1. (Pic 1): Can Sonar automatically generate a chord name corresponding to the chords played in the left hand, instead of going through the list of hundreds of different chord names? It will be especially helpful for guys like me who can barely read music notation. 2. (Pic 2) Please -- add the option to display horizontal grid lines in the Velocities section.
  15. Here is my solution: I kept only the first instance of the groove clip and then duplicated it (see screen shot). It still functions perfectly by changing pitch to the pitch markers above. Side note: it regularly occurs that when I press Play on this project, I can't get it to stop or pause. It simply keeps on playing, no matter how many times I try to stop it. Any ideas why this happens?
  16. Ok, that makes sense, thank you. But is there a way then to assign automation other than velocity and volume to an individual clip?
  17. Hi. I have a bass line converted to a groove clip. Before the conversion, it had an automation envelope (modulation of every second note). But, this does not seem to duplicate when the groove clip is extended (see screen shot. Is there a way to accomplish this?
  18. It's currently set to 300, so it may be too high then.
  19. Thank you everyone for your valuable input. It looks like the problem is resolved (not sure what I did, whether making the notes shorter or lowering the volume)
  20. Hi everyone. I'm stuck in a scenario where the midi notes at a specific location (bar 61) get stuck on playback (see video clip) and I have to hit the Reset Midi button every time. Is there a way to remedy this issue? Sequence 01.mp4
  21. Thank you, this is very helpful. In most instances, I have the TTS-1 loaded before adding other VSTs anyway, because I use it as a quick starter in my templates to get up and running with each new song. To those who may query the wisdom of using such an old synth -- I use it mostly for planning. It has a few grat drum kits which work well with the Step Sequencer. One instance of TTS-1 has 16x instruments, which is very easy on system resources. It's easy to record midi tracks with no latency, with all of the FX "on". Once I have the basic song with all of its tracks and instrument groups, I start to explore alternative, more modern synths. Sometimes, one or two TTS-1 instruments even remain in the mix. If anyone is interested -- I have the Step Sequencer set up with all the drums already loaded from the TTS-1.
  22. Thank you, I will look into it. I can just say, that this problem had already been coming up in Cakewalk before I upgraded to Sonar.
  23. Since working with Cakewalk, it would crash now and then while loading a project. Each time it would refer to a vst plugin used in the project (Korg Wavestation) with a "Crash Code: C0000005 (Access Violation)" note and dump file. After 3-5 efforts, it would eventually load. In Sonar, it's not getting any better. Now, I don't even get an error notification most of the times after a crash. Initially, I would get the "Crash Code: C0000005 (Access Violation)" crash notification, but now this doesn't even happen anymore. While loading, Sonar quits with no error message - nothing! It simply quits. Initially, I thought it may be a problem with the vst, but today I had a crash while working on another project that ONLY uses the Cakewalk TTS-1 synth. As I was working, Sonar crashed, with the usual "Access Violation" referencing the TTS-1 (see attached). So, this persistent problem does not seem to be related to any specific vst plugin. I am getting desperate now...I contacted Korg support, and their response is as slow as a sloth. I contacted Bandlab support, but thus far they haven't been able to determine the cause of the problem. Please, if anyone can share ideas about this, I'll appreciated it dearly.
  24. Excellent! Thank you very much for this link.
  25. I agree 100%. But, sometimes the note velocities simply don't translate well when recording Midi play from a keyboard.
