    Panning Question

Define “for panning” Meldaproduction Mautopan comes to mind. https://www.meldaproduction.com/MAutopanMB
  2. Under the track | Menu > deselect “Select events with Selection”
  3. You can only set keybindings to specify discreet dotted values. Feature request? https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/forum/8-feedback-loop/
  4. Title says it all.....

  5. Preferences(advanced) | Customisation | Keyboard Shortcuts > Area: Global Bindings Your CAL scripts will be at the bottom - just scroll down until you find your specific script. In the left , select the key combination (Or use Locate Key). In the right column, select your script. Then click “Bind”. You should see a line connecting the key combination to the action. When done, I like to export my key bindings to a file as a backup. As long as you have saved your CAL scripts in the folder as defined in Preferences | File | Folder Locations > CAL Files (5th down), your scripts should appear in that list to the right.
  6. Requires full retail version of Kontakt 5.8.1 or higher
  7. Please don't ever discontinue CAL scripts in CbB. I will literally be lost without them (Same for Studioware Panels)
  8. CAL scripts will still work in Cakewalk by Bandlab. However, if you are writing your own CAL scripts (which I have), there are some caveats you need to be aware of. Some commands behave differently (like EditPaste without parameters just pastes. Some even will categorically crash Cakewalk by Bandlab - Yes, Editslide and Editslide40, I'm looking at you) Also, you'll need an earlier version of Cakewalk (CPA9) to edit and test them properly. Remember these caveats and you can still write some mind blowingly useful scripts (especially when combined with Studioware panels - which I have done myself).
  9. To me, this would be the most convenient method. Once its set up, it's there forever....

    Arturia Pigments

It's just a standard run-of-the-mill VST synth so it should work. When you installed it, did you take note of where it is putting the DLL or VST3 file? I usually do a custom install of plugins. Is the location where it was installed listed in Preferences | File | VST Settings > VST scan paths You might want to do a reset and scan (in that order) Also, head over to Utilities > Cakewalk Plug-in Manger to make sure any custom layouts include Arturia Pigments.
  11. Yeah, I keep forgetting about that.....
  12. This happens for me from time to time with an external SW1000XG card. I put it down to the SW1000XG missing the note off command (or more precisely, the note on vel 0 command) from time to time As John mentions, I just hit the MIDI reset in the control bar transport. One other thing I have done is added PanicStrength=1 in the [WinCake] section in the Cakewalk.ini file in the "%appdata%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core" folder See: https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=4&help=INI_Files.4.html
  13. To date, I have yet to pay RRP for any plugin..... (well maybe the $US29.00 spitfire originals - but they are more bang for buck anyway)
  14. Yes, that's what I have always done to select notes or notes that don't fit around the selection rectangle...
  15. Is it possible to add a feature that can allow note (or nodes of an automation lane) selection using an irregular shape. A way it could be implemented is, with the smart tool enabled, holding a modifier key (say SHIFT) while right mouse button drawing anywhere around the notes (or nodes of an automation lane) you wish to select. Much like a vector graphic drawing program allows.
  16. What synth are you playing with the MIDI track? Just to make sure nothing was introduced with the Cakewalk early release (I am on early release 2021.9 Build 99) I did another test. This time with TruePianos with some notes intentionally off by a bit. I opened the quantise and set the Quantise duration to 16th and set it to affect the start times. When I hit “Audition”, the selected notes temporarily shifted to their quantised start times and played the result (as expected) So, as we speak, and with a fresh test, I am not having the issues you are describing. Does this hang happen on any synth (or even a straight MIDI track that is routed to external gear)?

Is this the 64 BIT version?......
  18. No a little more info....?

    Needs some cow bell...
  20. I created a simple tempo map to test and I did not find the issues that you described. Is it possible to, rather than deleting the node, hold down SHIFT while dragging the node from 17 to 18? Holding SHIFT restricts the movement to the initial mouse movement. Also, I was able to edit the M:B:T values of any of the nodes that were not on the measure. Basically, the workflow for editing a tempo map is identical to editing automation.
  21. I concur about reinstalling CbB.
  22. If you really want to do it in the same track, you could find a synth that responds to polyphonic aftertouch - and then map polyphonic aftertouch to pitch. Such synths are rare. Cakewalk’s Z3ta+ 2 is an example of such a synth. However, multiple instances to multiple tracks might still be easier - especially as, at this time, Cakewalk does not allow easy editing of polyphonic aftertouch events in the PRV.
  23. You’re right that pitch bends will bend all notes on a given instrument track. If you want to bend just one note in a chord, you might want to run multiple instances of the instrument. That way you can bend notes independently of each other. I use this technique when programming pedal steels using MIDI and pitch bends.
  24. Which exact version of Cakewalk?
  25. Being a production machine I run regular backups. The default location on your hard drive for your VST3 plugins is “C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3” Most backup programs allow you to select which folders you would like to include. To prevent data loss of your VST3 plugin files, it would be good to include this folder. Actually, I do a weekly backup that is pretty much the entire C:\ drive. If you have one, your IT specialist should really be on top of all of this.
