This should work. Fatar88 MIDI OUT---------------> MIDI in B of the MIDISPORT SY77 MIDI out ---------------> MIDI in C of the MIDISPORT Preferences - MIDI - Devices, > inputs > both MIDISPORT 4x4 in B and MIDISPORT 4x4 in C need to be enabled. If this does not work, either you have a cable issue or something is not selected in Cakewalk , either a local echo is off or you have selected the wrong input on the MIDI tracks.
-
Ok. Try this. Plug the SY77 MIDI out to another MIDI IN port of the MIDISPORT (You will need another MIDI cable if you still want to play using using the Farar88 as well as the SY77) In Preferences - MIDI - Devices, > inputs, enable which ever port you plugged the SY77 MIDI out into. Now in any MIDI track or Simple Instrument, you will be able to select from both keyboards

I am not sure what you mean by “muted kbd”. Is that the Cakewalk's virtual keyboard? You should have two MIDI cables between the MIDISPORT and the SY77 (assuming you want two way MIDI communication between the PC and the SY77) SY77 MIDI out ---------------> MIDI in C of the MIDISPORT (according to your screenshots). SY77 MIDI in <----------------- MIDI out B of the MIDISPORT (according to your screenshots). If you want the audio from the SY77 to be routed to Cakewalk, you need an audio cable from the SY77 to an audio in port of your audio interface. This is my set up: PCR-800 USB ------------------------> to PC SW1000XG MIDI in <----------------- MIDI out of a Roland UM-1 USB to MIDI interface. Audio out of the SW1000XG to an audio in port of a Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 audio interface.

Just confirming that the MIDI out from the SY77 is plugged into the MIDI C in on the MIDISPORT and that when you press keys on the SY77 you see activity on the MIDISPORT front panel MIDI in C. In Cakewalk, create a MIDI track and open the inspector. When you press keys on the SY77, you should see the volume meter jump and a little indicator flash with every key press. Do you have a standalone software instrument that you can test?

This is going to be a long shot here. As a test, what happens if you remove the first entry in Preferences - MIDI - Control Surfaces? (Preferenze - MIDI - superiic ai controllo) I don't use Control Surfaces, but I believe that the MIDI port you use for Control Surfaces cannot be the same one as you use for your MIDI tracks.

Something simple must be going on here. In 30 years, I have never had issues with Cakewalk (and all its iterations) from responding to MIDI data from an external MIDI device (first a Yamaha DX7II/D and now a Edirol PRC-800) I am thinking I am going to start needing some screenshots from you (including the MIDI track settings - via inspector or expanded vertically track)? What happens if you insert a Simple Instrument Track of a virtual instrument? (even use a free one from CbB) Of course, set the MIDI device that the SY77 connected to as the input device, the MIDI track’s MIDI channel set to 1 and the input echo enabled.
-
Indeed. There have been times when I have deemed the specific response to be in the form of a fix in the next update.

I have to admit, I too like to adjust colours and was a little disappointed when the list of adjustable colours in Sonar was reduced. It reminded me a bit of George Orwell's “1984” when a character mentioned that the new edition of the Newspeak dictionary was thinner than the last edition.

I am wondering if you can try adjusting the windows contrast using the windows colour management tool. Start run > colorcpl.exe > advanced tab > Calibrate Display

In all the times I've had to contact cakewalk support, I have always had good experiences and good outcomes.

First thing I tried, didn't work.....

I stand by my last comment where I said the more 32bit plugins in your project, the more potential for instability. If you ask Cakewalk support, they will probably tell you the same thing.
-
Please define “the latest update” Are you meaning a Cakewalk by Bandlab update or Windows update? An, in asnswer to your question , no I am not having “glitchy issues with the latest update” - be that the latest Cakewalk by Bandlab (2024.11 build 120) update or Windows update (Windows 10 Version 10.0.19045.5198).

With a MIDI track selected, Press i to bring up the MIDI track inspector See: (item C) http://legacy.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Inspectors.3.html#1220713

I was once told by support to do a clean install for an issue I was having enter tempos in CbB. (Entering one tempo entry resulted in two entries being entered). I replied that I will not be doing that. I too have my Cakewalk settings set up how I like them that would take me ages to set them up again. Fortunately I had access t another PC that had never had Cakewalk installed. That counted as a fresh install. The tempo issue remained. It ended up that this tempo issue was an actual bug that was fixed in the next update. It’s a bit like Microsoft telling an end user to fully reinstall Windows for even the most minor of issues.

Works for CbB as well.
-
With CbB, yes you do need the latest version (which at the time of this post is 2024.11 Build 120) to be activatable. Previous versions will eventually cease to activate. Try Jbridge. That might get you out of your pickle.....
-
Actually, yes, you’re right. They do. When I changed Yamaga XG (Think of XG as GM on steroids) devices to an SW1000XG, I also had to reduce the reverb levels as sent via CC91.

You probably should not be using 32 VSTs anyway as the more you have in your profects, the more potential for instability you are introducing. If you absolutely must use 32bit plugins, and you are having issues with BitBridge, then try using Jbridge (Note: this requires a small payment). https://jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/ Personally, I would be looking for 64bit equivalents.
-
If the players are not responding to CC91 and CC93, then they are not proper GM players. Play the files using a MIDI monitor to make sure the CC are actually being sent.
-
Add CC91 and CC93 for Chorus.

Do you have a backup? Have you done a Windows search of all your drives for *.CWP files? I have done many Cakewalk updates and have never lost project files. Even if I did , I would be restoring from the project files from the previous night’s backup.
-
I would still uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your Audio Interface even though they are up to date.
-
Have you tried uninstalling the Vdist runtimes (as opposed to doing the repair install), then reinstalling reinstalling the latest Vdist runtimes? (This is different to a mere repair). These can be downloaded from here. https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads If that does not work, when you are at a state where Cakewalk by Bandlab does not start, can you check the Windows task manager to make sure that there is not a “cakewalk.exe” process still running in the background. If there is, then maybe maybe a plugin or a driver is preventing the “cakewalk.exe” process from closing properly. If this is the case, you might want to Uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your Audio Interface. While you’re at it, you might want to head to the manufacturer’s website to see if there is a later version (Don’t use Windows Update).
