The project in question is based on a midi file (it's not made from scratch in Cakewalk). I can't see anything that might cause volume issues in the track in question. The very same midi file works perfectly with all Komplete Kontrol libraries in Soundbridge, LMMS and OpenMPT, and the only DAW installed on my computer that does have this problem is Cakewalk (and I'd rather expect the opposite).

Still, back to your question... If I start a new project and load KK, it works - there is sound in all libraries. So, it must be an issue related to midi import in Cakewalk (the result is the same regardless whether I 'open' or 'import' a midi file). It happens with all midi files I have and, as I said before, I can't think of a reason that would block one library and allow another from the same pack. Of course, there is a solution. I can edit the track inside the file in Cakewalk - record the track anew or redo the notes manually - I tried, and both work, and even though it's not really a big deal (it's a simple bass line, so all I need is to make 8 bars and copy and paste them), it's not the point...

Do you need me to show more details of the track? Which part(s)?

I would assume from your comments that you will need to dig into the MIDI file yourself and analyze what is happening.

Or else you may want to post an example of the file where the community can have a look at it... without that we are only guessing. It is most likely channel assignments or controllers.

Some of it is "loss leader." Isotope,  for the cost of your email address and some basic information,  gives away stuff like Vinyl and Vocal Doubler in the hopes that you'll drop serious  money on RX7 or Ozone.

I have collected the entire iZotope "Elements" series one by one either for really cheap, or free.

Maybe someday I will see the need to follow an upgrade path, then they will "own" me.

  3. Yes grab it!

I ran a couple of virtual basses through it, and it definitely adds some character! Comes with tons of SVX presets! Had big fun running my Ample Metal Ray 5 through it,  and then thumping on the B string, with the amp cranked up to 11. ?

But is there any way to enlarge the UI? Auditioning presets is one thing, but imagine I would go blind trying to spend any time tweaking things. Just saying, that thing is freaking tiny!

I have started to forget what came with Platinum. Checking http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Comparison.html indicates Rapture Session came with every version of the latest SONAR  releases including SHS. Given it was intended to replace CSC it makes sense that it was part of the basic package.

To automatically pick up all the legacy CSC, DP and Rapture programs, Rapture Session/Pro must be run after installing all the legacy packages.

Good catch there scook. Back when I was assembling the spreadsheet for Sonar plugins and what was included in each release I was only attempting to captured the top of the line bundles. But now I do recall that it was included in the Sonar Home Studio that was even given away as a freebie a few years ago.

[Edit] I corrected my earlier post about Rapture Session to cover the broader release in all Sonar editions.

Can't get it to work in any browser....even cleared cookies and etc...still won't work...

I got it to work in Firefox by turning off "enhanced tracking protection" for that site. That feature is now enabled for all sites by default in the latest versions of Firefox. Some sites break when this is active. I know, dumb. But...

Click on the shield icon next to the padlock on the left side of the address bar for a dropdown menu. Move the slider to the left to disable it for that site.

  6. I think I would try to get them working in Dimension Pro, or maybe even Rapture Session (which can import the  Dim Pro library as a player).

You should have a Dim Pro license in your old Cakewalk account if you had ever registered Sonar Producer 8 to X3, or Sonar Platinum.

[Edit] Rapture Session was included with Platinum as well the entry level and up Sonar editions of that time, such as Sonar Home Studio, Artist, and Professional.

The only thing that puts me off Vegas movie studio is the audio bit depth of 16 bits. I like 24 or 32 bit float when working with audio in video.

I think the movie studio line is intended for casual users. For serious audio, one could always move up to Vegas Pro, or move to a DAW for the final audio mixing task.

Vegas Pro 14 User Manual (older version):

    PCM audio

Sample Rate / Bit Depth / Channels / Compression

    48,000 Hz 16, 20, or 24 bit Stereo Uncompressed

    96,000 Hz 16, 20, or 24 bit Stereo Uncompressed

  8. I agree that is probably time to avoid SONiVOX plugins. I have their Premier Collection, and there has not been a single patch or bug fix in several years. And computer operating systems and DAWs keep marching on with development and modernization.

The gap keeps widening. Let the buyer beware. Sometime the price is too good to be true. In this case I believe  it is, IMHO.

But with all due respect, I don't believe that Vocalizer Pro specifically has ever had crashing problems for me. But it can be a bear to set up correctly in your DAW of choice.

  9. Good rundown. Been a fan of Humble for a while now, and scored some great deals with it! Have Vegas Pro 14 as a result, and have managed to use it on a few small projects. Was really wondering about the Video Pro X thing and Movie Studio Platinum 16.  But my point and shoot camera and smartphone have video record mode, so...

So what happens if you host the VSTis directly in Cakewalk rather than via Komplete Kontrol?

It looks like the AAS Player in the example above is directly hosted in Cakewalk. If that is the case, then the issue is not likely to be only with KK.

Pics are great, but I wonder if  they can give step by step actions to reproduce the issue, starting with a new blank project, then exactly how the instrument is inserted, and any track settings are adjusted, etc.

I cannot reproduce the issue  here based on what has been discussed so far.

One thing is for sure - Google, Facebook, Twitter and many others in the Tech industry have made billions of dollars giving away "free" stuff. Free search, free storage, free office software, free interactive discussion software, etc. There is plenty to be made by giving away the "right" free stuff.

Microsoft gave away Internet Explorer (IE or MSIE) with Win 95 in 1995 and which eventually crushed the business model of Netscape Navigator (begin the browser wars), a paid for (commercial use) internet browser by Netscape Communications Corp. This eventually led to Microsoft's antitrust trial.

Firefox rose from the ashes of Netscape with Mozilla, after Netscape open sourced their codebase in 1998. The result being that internet browsers became available mostly as freeware. Then Google Chrome and others like Opera, etc.

Of course all of this is highly oversimplified, and recommend reading the Wikipedia pages for MSIE and Netscape if interested in the historical details.

The point being that giving away the right stuff can have a huge effect!

You’re right. Don’t know if Kontakt sales are as frequent, though.

I do recall one last year, but I deferred on that deal...

I have a Kontakt Player library that qualifies me for the Kontakt crossgrade price, but it would be nice to get that at 50% off, as was offered to me last time. This year's Summer of Sound doesn't seem to be the same. But they are teasing me with Komplete. ?

Similar to vst standard, if the industry could adopt a universal open source standard in both sample players and as a substitute for VST/AAX/AU , I think the market could open up. More money would go to developers. To be fair a fee should be paid to the developers of this standard to continue to support it across all platforms. The trade off is it would not be a corporate entity but a non profit whose only interest is to keep the standard working well in all DAWs.

I see the point, but as far as I know all of the commercial sample library formats are proprietary, with the exception of some  sound fonts and SFZ files. There may be some exceptions, but my view is that most commercial content creators benefit by protecting their sample libraries and hard work from theft by using proprietary copy-protected file formats, and linking them with a registered sample player.

Of course, you or anybody else can create your own sampled instruments in SFZ format https://sfzformat.com/ and give them away if you wish. There are several players for that.

By UNIX, I guess you mean Linux....

Linux is not UNIX. It's only UNIX-like. I know, that's a technical point. But the current Mac OS actually is UNIX certified. I think you get that, but were only clarifying the previous poster's comment.

However,  the Linux platform has been fragmented because it is so open and can be customized to suit any purpose. Probably more choices than standards...
