The bakers are probably working on this right now in their "Area-51". As a follow-up to the arranger track...
Just speculating, of course... ?

Yes, I do have Home Studio 7 .
I agree that would have been most helpful info in the original post for those trying to assist, as well as those who may be searching for similar answers in the future. You may want to edit the thread title in that regard.
Glad that you finally got it sorted out!

Yes they have to manually recover your password at support. The automatic password recovery reset at the original Cakewalk site no longer functions, since it can't send out a response email.

Now the only question is do I really need anything else from IKM? Already have SampleTank 4 MAX, Syntronik, Miro 2 CE.
Already have plenty of basses and drums, so not really sure that I would use the MODO's all that much...

Yes, my Sonar 7 is a 32 bit program. I'll have to see if I can reinstall it as a 64 bit version, if that option is given to me on the installation CD. Otherwise , I probably will just use Bandlab -- though I have to see if it opens Sonar files without anything going terribly amiss. Thanks.
The Sonar 7 installer should supply both versions.
I believe that the only reason to install 32-bit Sonar would be if that is all your hardware will support, or else maybe if there is some 32-bit VST plugin that doesn't run correctly with the built-in BitBridge in Sonar x64. CbB (x64 only) also has BitBridge, if needed.
I used to install both 32 and 64 bit versions of Sonar 8.5 and X1 on my 64-bit system. But in recent years have not bothered with Sonar x32.

Yes...Acronis True Image is like a Subscription...you get all updates and upgrades for 1 year.
So, if you had 2020, and it expired in Oct., after Oct you would no longer get updates
or upgrades...OK that makes more sense! Really a perpetual license, but with a subscription for support and updates.
I tried Acronis many moons ago when I installed it on my Dad's PC. I set up a hidden restore partition (Acronis Secure Zone) with a custom baseline system image, so that if he ever needed to he could restore the system back to "like new" with one button push. That was back in the Win XP days, and from what I can see you have to use bootable rescue media to restore disk images now. Back then there was a key that you could hit during booting that launched the Acronis rescue environment where you could restore an image from the Secure Zone.
I liked that feature best because he was not that tech savvy, and I was providing remote support from over 500 miles away...

That's what it said when I bought it...my 2020 expires in Oct...so I bought it.
I think right now is the grace period for purchases so should include the upgradeIt expires?

BandLab online and Cakewalk By BandLab are still two different products. It remains to be seen what integration, especially regarding instruments, will follow...

If you have $200 burning a hole in your GAS pocket, maybe there are other deals elsewhere that are more worthy of your hard earned cash. ?
I know, freebies are irresistible, but even so there is still an up-front cost...

I have to say that the Custom Shop, and the Online Shop, are kind of "useless", as they
don't show products that you don't own. When I click on SampleTank in the custom
shop, and then select "not purchased" the only thing that shows up is "London Grooves",
despite knowing that I haven't purchased products like "LA Confidential, Clavitube, etc..."
which one would think would show up as "not purchased".
Also, it would be nice if the Online shop showed "you own this product" as a helpful way of determining
if you may be buying something that you may already own....just my 2 cents worth...If you start up SampleTank 4 it will show you what you have installed (or not) in the left hand library panel. Of course this is only useful for libraries that ST4 can load up, not for other items such as T-Racks or Amplitube, etc.
If you see a download arrow on top of a library icon, that means you own it, but have not installed it yet.
If you see a shopping cart, that means you have not bought it yet.
[Edit] However I just discovered that the new ST4 expansions such as Clavitubes do not show up this way...

I must be using an old version of your spreadsheet.
QuoteSession Drummer 3 is a SONAR 8.5 Producer and SONAR X1 Producer exclusive and provides for easy and fast creation of realistic sounding drum tracks.

In fact, Session Drummer 2 was not part of SONAR for some time. It was replaced by Session Drummer 3 in X1.
It was actually replaced by Session Drummer 3 in Sonar 8.5. Still some time, though!

Generally projects ARE backward compatible but the DAW will issue a warning about the project being created with a newer product.
Of course, the DAW opening the project may not have the ability to support all the features referenced in the project. In this case, the unsupported feature(s) will not be present.
Projects containing patch points and aux tracks will not open in DAWs that lack support these features. Patch points and aux tracks are supported in CbB and SONAR Professional/Platnum Oct 2015 or newer.
That's probably true, but since we're talking 13 years difference in file formats, I would say at least make backup copies of your old projects before working in the current version. Just in case, you know?

PS Yes I believe that session drummer 2 is one of 3 32 bit VSTs in the CbB package.
Here is a list of the included plug-ins with Cakewalk by BandLab: http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Plug-ins.1.html
I don't see any Session Drummer included, only Studio Instruments Drum Kit. The other plug-ins you see are probably left over from a previous install of Sonar.

I don't think that Cakewalk project files that have been saved in newer versions of the software are backwards compatible with older versions. I think it's always been that way, and not just with Cakewalk.
Most vendors recommend that you save a backup of your old projects before you open and edit them in new versions of their software, in case you decide to revert to the old version of the software.
-
Sonar 5 (all versions) and later were available as Sonar x64. Session Drummer 2 was included in Sonar 5 thru 8. Was that plug-in only available as 32-bit? Just curious, as my installs don't go back that far.

in case it influences the backup/redownload decision, IIRC jampoints can be applied to the download re-activator to save a few dollars.
Just 30%, or $3.00 off. So that's $6.99 to re-up.
Fortunately that unlocks the sounds downloads for ALL of your IK products!

Lots of us got it for free a year ago. Getting this one he is just saying it is like getting another year of WUP instead of buying that worthless "service" like a sucker
I see that the latest H-Comp v11 is covered, but my previous Waves H-Series plugins are all v10. And it seems that Waves shows no love for them except for the convenient "renew coverage" option... for $54 for my H-Series bundle, or $130 for all of my Waves v10 plugins. ?

I only image my os drive. I have a new bkup made every month with incrementals in between.
You might want to consider imaging for your sample drive, unless it is way too huge. I have all of my samples and content on a 1TB SSD drive, about 60% used space. As long as I keep a current image of that I should never need to reinstall anything on that drive. Just restore the image and go!

As far as I understand, MODO Bass is fully modelled; for MODO Drum, the drums are modelled (or mostly are) but the cymbals are sampled. I'm open to correction if I'm wrong.
I believe that is close, if not completely correct. I recall reading somewhere that the cymbals are sampled. Which is why I said mostly modeled, and since I do not own either couldn't state with certainty.

Yes I believe so.
You have the sounds themselves, to use in ST4.
Then you got to bkup all that. We talking almost 500gb!! This last PC I built has a few drives in it just for this reason:
1.5tb M.2 drvs
2.5tb SSDs
5tb hds
And I have externally:
16tb WD Elements BkUp. (4tb & 12tb)
I've about come to the decision to no longer archive the IK sounds installers. I image my OS and sample drives regularly, so in the rare event that I would ever need to clean install, paying $10 to re-download the installers is certainly more cost effective than buying another drive to store them on.
Feature Request - Build In Sampler
in Feedback Loop
Posted
I think the term "sampler" that is often used in a generic way is ambiguous and frequently leads to confusion where a diverse, multi-generation, music making audience is concerned. There really are at least two main types of sampler in use these days, plugin VSTi samplers, or fully integrated samplers.
For an example, PreSonus has clearly made the decision to fully embrace this integrated sampling path, much to the derision and disdain of their traditional DAW users. But apparently the company has noticed the generational shifts in music production, and has attempted to offer something for everyone. They apparently have been listening to their users.
My take on the folks requesting a "sampler" in this context are talking about an integrated tool for live sampling, sample triggering, and sample mangling in near real-time as part of their own creative musical workflow, and not necessarily playing back a sampled instrument created by someone else.
Cakewalk still has trouble sampling "live", even with a 3rd party sampler. Yes, you can drag and drop samples, but that's not the same. Maybe they should fix that first.
I'm sure that those who keep making these requests are well aware of the commercial 3rd party mega "sample library" instruments, but those don't operate as efficiently in this type of workflow. Maybe it's not right for you, but probably time for you to watch some YouTubes about the subject, as a lot of modern music production is done "in-the-box" with samples.
But I do agree that those expecting BandLab to develop this and give it all away for free are probably expecting too much. There is a reason that DAWs that have all of these features cost money. They have paying customers who are funding the development bill. BandLab probably needs to focus on their precious commodity, and keep improving the core DAW. Cakewalk is free, but I doubt that they are operating a charity.
