  1. To anyone that got the email...what is the subject line? I'm trying to do a search on my inbox in case I missed it... Thx! ?
  2. Not sure how to classify this, because it includes instruments and FX. And it's free! It was listed over in the deals forum.
  3. I was reminded this morning via email from Akai Pro. Looks fairly complete, and runs either standalone or as a DAW plug-in. Appears to be based on an emulation of the MPC hardware, and then some. Includes chopping samples, sample editing, and a chords and scales mode for melodics and progressions. With a collection of 3 plug-in instruments, (Tubesynth -VA style tube synth, Electric -Rhodes style electric Piano, and Bassline - for deep low end), plus F9 sample based instrument collection with sounds for modern pop, R&B, Trap, and hip-hop, to electronic, its ready to go. Plus a mixer environment with AIR effects included. Plus official AKAI emulations of classic MPC hardware drum machines. 3rd party plug-in FX also supported. All this for free?
  4. That is nice. Very nice. Already have that one, and it almost makes me want to add the Ultra Analog VA-3. Edit: just checked and AAS offered me an upgrade Ultra Analog Session to Ultra Analog VA-3 for $49. And I already had a few expansions for that in my Player collection. Done!
  5. The Cubase Sampler track was added in Cubase 9, but the example above was apparently using the updated version of Sampler Track in Cubase 11. Nice feature set, and a good example of what advantages an integrated sampler has for workflow efficiency! https://www.gearnews.com/steinberg-cubase-pro-11-review/
  6. The full Chromaphone 2 instrument also suffers from the same shortcoming. Thankfully AAS included favorites in V3 with their much improved browser!
  7. Check your settings in your account at the AAS site. I discovered that I was unsubscribed from their mailings. Not sure how that happened, but it's fixed now! ?
  8. Grabbed the Funk Masters and Rock Solid a couple days ago. Can't pass up a 75% discount on EZX. Already had the Americana EZX from black friday sale at Toontrack for $22. The Toontrack deal of the day is Reggae EZX for $22, today only! https://www.toontrack.com/holiday-deal-week/
  9. If you listen carefully as the narrator describes dragging the MIDI, he states that the MIDI is already routed to an instrument, and that the target is the Cubase sampler track. Not just a track with a 3rd party sampler. It appears to me that a series of events had to take place (more than one, like a macro) when he dragged the MIDI that had previously been routed to an instrument. That MIDI was bounced through its assigned instrument, and the audio output from that bounced clip was placed directly on the Cubase sampler track (in one step). Cakewalk is still lacking this feature (as you have stated). Others have requested an integrated sampler track in Cakewalk. Suggest checking the feature requests for that, and give some feedback for the Bakers there. https://steinberg.help/cubase_pro_artist/v9/en/cubase_nuendo/topics/sampler_track/sampler_track_creating_sampler_tracks_c.html
  10. Yes, I agree. I explored a few 3D modeling and animation tools back in the day. Discovered that you would mostly be working in wireframe mode and then need decent 3D acceleration on a high-end PC to see a realistic 3D preview of what your fully rendered work would look like. Depending on your CPU back then, renders could take seemingly forever. And there was the learning curve. Not for the faint of heart! You would need to be committed fully, and there is where the time in the day applies. If I had been at least 10 years younger at that time, I might have been tempted to pursue a career in that field. But I already had a full time job. Still, it was, and still is fascinating... ?
  11. I'm not sure what you are implying there. Why do you appear to be so hostile and angry? Who are you venting at? Some of us are probably much older than you. I started MIDI sequencing with hardware before there was a VST. And used instrument definitions for MIDI program bank and patch change over MIDI cables to external hardware. As well as MIDI SysEx dumps and loads over the same cables. There are lots of friendly folks around here with plenty of experience that would be happy to exchange ideas in a friendly, respectful manner.
  12. Not true. I added that "it's up to the VSTi vendor. Cakewalk supports the feature if the plug-in is capable".
  13. Not saying that. You put the MIDI on the track with the instrument. Then bounce or freeze the track. The files you drag onto a sampler would obviously be audio samples. The sampler plays back audio samples. MIDI triggers the sampler to play back those samples. Bouncing the MIDI track processes the MIDI data through the sampler instrument telling it what notes to play and how to play them, resulting in an audio file with the resulting sound based on the samples that the sampler is holding. MIDI in, audio out.
  14. Daz 3D goes way back, and has combined their own Daz Studio, originally their own scene creator and alternative to Poser, with Bryce (Kai Krause), a fractal based 3D landscape modeler, and Cararra (now Daz 3D, but earlier from from Ray Dream and MetaCreations), a general purpose 3D modeler/animation package. From the beginning, a lot of the initial creative 3D software development from MetaCreations, Fractal Design, Ray Dream, and others such as Kai Krause together inspired much of this. On the shoulders of giants, as they say... Even Corel acquired Painter from Fractal Design. All this happened mostly in the 90's and early 2000's.
  15. I forgot that I had an old version of that software around here somewhere... ? It's probably kick-***** on modern computers.
  16. Going from MIDI to audio track requires that an instrument be defined for the bounce process. Otherwise the bounce has nothing to process, as MIDI contains no audio information. When dragging a MIDI clip into a sampler, you would need to have a default instrument assigned to the sampler track. Again, MIDI data itself contains no sound info.
  17. I've also heard it said that the silent space between the notes is just as important!
  18. FYI: just look at all the hell raised by IKM users because they DID NOT have a software manager. Now they do. And it was certainly justified given the astronomical number of downloads with hundreds of GBs involved. I agree that listening to the user, and giving them a choice is always the best solution!
  19. Don't feel bad! I did the same thing, as indicated in my post way back in this thread. Arturia apparently got ahead of themselves, too! LOL! ?
  20. Whenever I see that I just log into my account at the XLN website and activate my "new" computer. Done. FYI : Windows Feature Updates change your computer ID.
  21. Not sure what you meant here. Can you elaborate? "One aspect of MIDI music that has not advanced" implies that you are not referring just to Cakewalk, but in general. There are programs dedicated to scoring sheet music that can output MIDI.
  22. Discussions of software piracy in this forum will most likely draw the attention of the moderators, so do yourself a favor and keep it on the down low. Just an FYI. Cheers! ?
  23. BandLab owns the copyright for all of the legacy Cakewalk IP, so technically not abandonware. BandLab may not currently be selling the legacy instruments to new users, but they do support the activations for legally licensed users.
