I have the Beatzille, a slimmed down magware version, and love the sound. Would really like to see a sale on this baby! 4 digital oscillators based on phase distortion (plus FM), analogue style filters, and modeled effects. In a package with modular goodness. Like a Casio CZ on steroids!

Now that's a tasty price for Repro ($74.50 USD)!!! Have had that #1 on my wishlist ever since trying the demo. ? Have no u-he premium synths in my collection yet, but have tried a demo for most of them. I do have the free Beatzille, Tyrell, and Zebralette. Diva would be next up for me, followed by Bazille (but not on sale yet). I really like the sounds from Zebra, but not sold on the synth architecture yet. Probably just me, but I've tried the demo several times and it just doesn't really click for me. Hive 2 demo sounds good, but I think it overlaps with my SynthMaster One.

Love me some Americana, Reggae, Funk, Blues, Jazz, Latin ... and Rock and Roll 4ever! ✌️ Also love to experiment with electronic music, but probably Scaler or something like that would be more useful than EZ anything, LOL! Add Band in a Box for experimenting with traditional arrangements...

Reggae EZkeys MIDI $10 today only at Toontracks.

Probably some funky aggressive heuristics in Bitdefender. I noticed it updated protection definitions late last night, after the alerts. Also checked my firewall logs and the XLN installer connected to the same url this morning as the one it alerted on last night. I have also scanned my system with Malwarebytes and HitmanPro. All clean...

@simonThat was my Bitdefender web protection flagging it, not the file scanner. As far as I understand it, the web protection is a "url" scanner, so it likely got hung up on that location of the file at "cloudfront.net". For some unknown reason it thought malware may be lurking there, so it played it safe and blocked it. Probably a false positive. Software managers download files outside of the browser. I have many active blacklists in my browser, so it won't connect to known malware sites. But a download manager bypasses the browser, leaving things up to other malware defenses as far as potentially malicious url's. Thanks for checking! FYI: ran the XLN installer again this morning and updated both products OK. No further alerts! All clear! ?

It was just that first dll for Addictive Keys that got flagged 10 times before I cancelled. Apparently Bitdefender kept re-trying that one. Nothing got through.

My New Video: How to Get the Most Out of Your Virtual Instruments and Synths
abacab replied to Reid Rosefelt's topic in Deals
They do seem endless don't they. My frequent downfall is going down the rabbit hole of sound design in the very beginning. I need to better discipline myself to limit my choices up front! ? Looking forward to your future explorations with palettes! -
Visit the Toontrack site this week, as each day they are revealing a special deal! https://www.toontrack.com/holiday-deal-week/

Got them all! Is it still a money pit if you get the expansions for 75% off?

My New Video: How to Get the Most Out of Your Virtual Instruments and Synths
abacab replied to Reid Rosefelt's topic in Deals
I agree, great video! Templates FTW! I am taking an online class in song composition, where the instructor addressed the issue of too many available sounds at the very beginning. He encourages making a pallete of sounds as being a decision to limit what to use for your project. When you can use anything and everything, that becomes infinitely huge! Which can be terrifying, because we have every option in the world available to us. Too many choices, and as you pointed out, not enough hours in the day. Defining a pallete is limiting the main tools to be used at the beginning of a project. Sounds very similar to your recommended use of templates! For example selecting a set of drums, bass, synths, and other stuff as needed. Not that it can't be changed later, but just something to begin with. Sound design can be done later on, but getting started with a specific set of sounds should get you moving with your song ideas. -
Bitdefender went nuts here with infected web resource alerts after I clicked to start update on XLN Online Installer. So I canceled the update. The XLN installer itself updated without issue, but it was addictive Drums and Keys that needed application updates. And that is when the alerts started. Will try again tomorrow... most likely a false positive, but ya never know... the disclosure of the exploit of the SolarWinds supply chain this week is still fresh in mind! Thousands of companies and federal agencies may have been unknowingly compromised, going back to earlier this year. I'm not a tin foil hatter, but just cautious! https://www.theverge.com/2020/12/15/22176053/solarwinds-hack-client-list-russia-orion-it-compromised

And then set aside a few hundred extra $$$ for new disk space for all of those free/cheap libraries that you probably don't need. ?

Thx! Nothing yet... ?

To anyone that got the email...what is the subject line? I'm trying to do a search on my inbox in case I missed it... Thx! ?

Same here. Still waiting...

Not sure how to classify this, because it includes instruments and FX. And it's free! It was listed over in the deals forum.

I was reminded this morning via email from Akai Pro. Looks fairly complete, and runs either standalone or as a DAW plug-in. Appears to be based on an emulation of the MPC hardware, and then some. Includes chopping samples, sample editing, and a chords and scales mode for melodics and progressions. With a collection of 3 plug-in instruments, (Tubesynth -VA style tube synth, Electric -Rhodes style electric Piano, and Bassline - for deep low end), plus F9 sample based instrument collection with sounds for modern pop, R&B, Trap, and hip-hop, to electronic, its ready to go. Plus a mixer environment with AIR effects included. Plus official AKAI emulations of classic MPC hardware drum machines. 3rd party plug-in FX also supported. All this for free?

That is nice. Very nice. Already have that one, and it almost makes me want to add the Ultra Analog VA-3. Edit: just checked and AAS offered me an upgrade Ultra Analog Session to Ultra Analog VA-3 for $49. And I already had a few expansions for that in my Player collection. Done!

I have the Alesis MMT-8.

Phrase samplers for use in Cakewalk
abacab replied to Starship Krupa's topic in Instruments & Effects
The Cubase Sampler track was added in Cubase 9, but the example above was apparently using the updated version of Sampler Track in Cubase 11. Nice feature set, and a good example of what advantages an integrated sampler has for workflow efficiency! https://www.gearnews.com/steinberg-cubase-pro-11-review/ -
The full Chromaphone 2 instrument also suffers from the same shortcoming. Thankfully AAS included favorites in V3 with their much improved browser!

Check your settings in your account at the AAS site. I discovered that I was unsubscribed from their mailings. Not sure how that happened, but it's fixed now! ?

Phrase samplers for use in Cakewalk
abacab replied to Starship Krupa's topic in Instruments & Effects
If you listen carefully as the narrator describes dragging the MIDI, he states that the MIDI is already routed to an instrument, and that the target is the Cubase sampler track. Not just a track with a 3rd party sampler. It appears to me that a series of events had to take place (more than one, like a macro) when he dragged the MIDI that had previously been routed to an instrument. That MIDI was bounced through its assigned instrument, and the audio output from that bounced clip was placed directly on the Cubase sampler track (in one step). Cakewalk is still lacking this feature (as you have stated). Others have requested an integrated sampler track in Cakewalk. Suggest checking the feature requests for that, and give some feedback for the Bakers there. https://steinberg.help/cubase_pro_artist/v9/en/cubase_nuendo/topics/sampler_track/sampler_track_creating_sampler_tracks_c.html
