  1. Not SynthMaster One, which will remain a one layer, one MIDI channel synth. SM 3 will be able to load SM One presets as layers. Don't know about multiple audio outputs. Have not seen that mentioned...
  2. The OP was asking about a specific contemporary software synth, therefore my general "synth" answer was in the context of the original question. Of course, as you say, most hardware synths are multi-timbral, so in an attempt at being succinct with my answer I was not accurate in a more general sense. A simpler way to accomplish this is to set up the multi-track arrangement once in the Cakewalk tracks with the MIDI channel assignments and presets selected in each instance. Then either save it as a Cakewalk Project Template or a Cakewalk Track Template. If you wish to be able to insert the multi-track arrangement into any existing Cakewalk project, export it as a Cakewalk Track Template. In either case, this setup can be easily recalled in Cakewalk at any time without having to re-insert multiple instances of a software synth. The MIDI channel settings and preset selections will be preserved as well. Back on the topic of SynthMaster... this is correct! The KV331 Audio developer, Bulent, has stated that he plans to implement 16 layers in SynthMaster 3, each layer with it's own MIDI channel setting. Assuming that each layer can have a different preset then it would be multi-timbral capable, which I assume will happen because he also stated that SynthMaster One presets will load on individual layers in SM 3. No firm release date yet for SM 3, but the dev has stated that it's his current main focus for now.
  3. As far as I know you will need a separate instance of SynthMaster on each track. SynthMaster is not a multi-timbral instrument and can only play one preset at a time. Instrument presets used in multi-timbral plugins such as Kontakt or SampleTank can each be assigned to their own MIDI channel. Most software synths are not multi-timbral.
  4. At some point I got rid of everything except the Waveshells 12, 13, & 14, and all is well. It looks like right now my Waves plugins are all either 12 or 14, so I probably could delete 13. But don't wanna push my luck! ?
  5. There have been some techniques discussed for dragging imported audio from an audio track into Cakewalk's time ruler in the track view to create a tempo map via ARA. The Cakewalk grid *should* adapt to the imported tempo with any changes included in the timeline. Setting the project tempo from an audio recording https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Tempo.12.html If you open up the Cakewalk Tempo track you can see the tempo region changes visually. I've also heard that the process isn't perfect, and some tweaking may be required, depending on your source material. I always work in the project grid and so really have no personal experience with importing external recordings, so no advice or experiences to share about using this feature. But it looks pretty cool and is probably worth checking out. Maybe others will chip in and share! Tempo track https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Tempo.04.html
  6. As he explained, when he ran the program that they sent to him it used a Chrome extension to capture his browser session cookies. Since the hackers now had authenticated copies of the session cookies, they could impersonate him and take over the YouTube account. Scary!!! ?
  7. I think we all are getting older. ? I started using Cakewalk about 5 years prior to this Sonar 2.2 announcement...
  8. I'm sure that's a great one if you are looking for a recreation of the DX7. F.'em was deliberately trying to avoid recreating yet another hardware emulation and demonstrate that FM synthesis itself is much larger in scope. The DX7 is the most popular example of vintage FM synthesis, and there is nothing wrong with that.
  9. Yup, that's what got my curiosity up! Sometimes weird is a nice change from the routine!
  10. I will add that on my computer there are two VST3 Presets folders. One folder for Focusrite (with sub-folders for Red 2 EQ and Red 3 Compressor), the other folder for Plugin Boutique (with sub-folder for Virtual CZ). With the VST3 version of any of these plugins loaded in Cakewalk, the preset window in the plugin header shows "No Preset ", but the VST3 pull-down menu item "Load Factory Preset" opens the VST3 Presets folder. With the VST2 version of any of these plugins loaded, the preset window in the plugin header has a fully populated preset list, and displays the current preset name. For the bx_oberhausen here, both the VST2/VST3 plugins show "No Preset" in the Cakewalk plugin header. This plugin uses .papreset files that are located in a presets sub-folder for the synth under Program Files. These presets are accessed using the preset system within the plugin itself, rather than Cakewalk. In this case, there don't appear to be any factory .fxp or .vst3preset files that I can find. If I am missing anything here please correct me...
  11. Cakewalk® Announces SONAR™ 2.2, Expanding Support for Windows-compatible Audio Hardware — Adds support for Windows ASIO drivers, in addition to WDM and MME drivers; Free 2.2 Download for Registered SONAR 2.x Users — https://www.cakewalk.com/Press/Release/1004/01-16-03-SONAR22 Press release archive: https://www.cakewalk.com/Press/2003
  12. OK, thanks! That link worked. I had tried the Reddit link here in both Firefox and Chrome, and they both ignored it. Normally don't have any issues accessing Reddit from these browsers. Strange thing is that after testing again, found out that it was my "Disconnect" add-on that I use in both browsers to block web trackers that was blocking my access in this instance. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/disconnect/ All good now though! Thanks again!
  13. So get the synth deal now, and watch out for another 50% off sale on sound packs. Maximum savings! Make Larry proud!
  14. Not a chance in the southern Caribbean, LOL!!! ?
  15. If you get the synth for $26, plus an expansion that suits you, you are still getting a lot of value for $76. The synth itself lists for $179, but occasionally goes on a rare deep sale like this. Other sales are more like only 50% off. This is a good opportunity to grab a powerful FM synth with more capabilities than other FM synths. If you can find the time and are so inclined, this one might be a good synth to get into sound design with. As far as the price of content packs, it appears to me that Tracktion is trying to pull in more revenue from content, while offering discounts on their flagship software.

  17. ...and no tape machines required!
  18. I guess some folks are expecting Yamaha DX-7 sounds. F.'em can easily do that, but it's not the focus of the factory library. Devs are trying to showcase where FM can evolve to when it's not encumbered by the limitations of the vintage FM synths. The devs stated that if you are familiar with FM8 by NI, you should be able to navigate the F.'em UI alright.
  19. Blackhole would be my go-to for atmospheric reverb. The Stardust 201 from Cherry Audio is based on some classic Roland Space Echo hardware tape delay units and is selling for $19. Demo available. https://cherryaudio.com/products/stardust-201 https://docs.cherryaudio.com/cherry-audio/instruments/stardust-201-tape-echo/echo
  20. The kHs Pitch Shifter can do +/- 24 semitones, so range is +/- 2 octaves. The effect works in real time and if you set the mix knob to 100% wet, you only hear the shifted audio, otherwise you hear some of the original signal as well.
  21. What packing? Sounds like t-shirt, shorts, sunglasses, hat, and flip-flops are all that's needed... ?
  22. There's a couple of new freebies out today. This one looks interesting... Adios is a cinematic first-person game about sticking to a complicated decision. You're a pig farmer in Kansas. It's October. Cold, crisp mornings are the norm, and you have decided that you're no longer okay with letting the mob use your pigs to dispose of bodies. When your old friend - a hitman - arrives with his assistant to deliver another body, you finally screw up the courage to tell them that you're done. https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/adios-b378b4
  23. Aha, that's the reason! I registered my Scarlett in 2020, so don't have those extra's in my account.
