  1. Windows 10 will be supported for a couple more years, so there's no rush to risk your main studio PC, yet. The upgrade will likely still be free until then. I'm going to wait for Microsoft to get some more rough edges off of Win 11 first... But if you have a 2nd computer to experiment with and are curious, go for it! The 10 Worst Things About Windows 11 https://www.pcmag.com/news/the-10-worst-things-about-windows-11 Windows 11: Biggest Changes and New Features https://www.pcmag.com/news/everything-you-need-to-know-about-windows-11
  2. And there are these from Groove3: The Mechanics of Mixing in Studio One https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/The-Mechanics-of-Mixing-in-Studio-One Mastering in Studio One: Beginner’s Guide https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Mastering-in-Studio-One-Beginners-Guide Studio One 4 Advanced https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Studio-One-4-Advanced Studio One 5 Explained® https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Studio-One-5-Explained Studio One 6 Explained® https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Studio-One-6-Explained

  4. Let's see here... You just joined this forum 4 hours ago so that you could necro an old thread about Linux, LOL!!! ? Must be a slow day wherever you are! BTW way this is generally a music forum, not a computer forum. But most of us do use computers. That's where Cakewalk comes in. And it's Windows only, no Mac or Linux. Since you apparently have plenty of spare time, please feel try to try to take Cakewalk for a spin on Linux/ Wine and let us know how that works out...
  5. The Minimoog (1970-1982) and the Memorymoog (1982-1985) are basically two different animals... For starters, 6-voice polyphony with 3 VCO's per voice in the latter. https://www.vintagesynth.com/moog/memory.php "The Memorymoog is like having six Minimoogs stacked in one! Features include VCO syncing, sample and hold, and separate filters for each voice! It also has a Unison mode for a fat 18 oscillator monophonic bass and lead sound. And as its name would suggest, it has memory storage - 100 patches!"
  6. Aha, ok! Grabbed a new one for Ultra Analog back in December... ?
  7. I have the Syntronik 2 MAX, and there are some very cool sounds buried in there. If you find a sound that you like, it can sound really good! And kudos to the team that preserved all of those vintage synth sounds from those hardware collections! It's historical! And what you can put together in the multis can be very creative! But the downside is with the preset browser and the fact that all the synth presets are sample based. I have nothing against sample based instruments, in fact I have too many of them! ? It's just that if I am looking for a synth preset in Syntronik, I encounter a bit too much "friction". Lets see here, found a cool preset name, so double click and wait for the samples to load. Listen to it, then on to the next, and so forth. I just find that workflow tiresome after a while, where with a modeled synth that I can just scroll down a filtered list of sounds that might be interesting and they each load instantly. That tends to hold my attention for much longer. Syntronik may be of more use if you know exactly what you are looking for, rather than exploring for "that sound" that you will know as soon as you hear it. That said, you will run across some goodies, especially if you filter for the Syntronik v2 presets.
  8. Agreed on Waves! That Waveshell thingy and the WUP woop drives a lot of folks crazy! Some good plugins, but those shells are a real drag on plugin scanners!
  9. I went SynthMaster One over Hive...
  10. Installed! Got the Asymmetric sound pack for free! It was included with the purchase String Studio VS-3, which I picked up at Best Service. Apparently an AAS promotion for this month only! "SPECIAL OFFER! Get String Studio VS-3 for 50% off. Asymmetric - Sound Pack is included with every purchase only through February 28, 2023." https://www.ilio.com/string-studio-3 Factoid: Asymmetric was created by the same sound designer that made Analog Orchestra for Ultra Analog VA-3. Cipryan Bot is a Romanian music producer who collaborated with labels such as Armada Music, Magic Island, and Solaris Recordings for original tracks and remixes. His main background is electronic and telecommunications engineering but his attraction for music and designing real-like and electronic sounds transformed his hobby into a passion.
  11. Playing around with the String Studio VS-3 demo, which I already have a few sound packs for. It's on sale at AAS for $99 right now, and it's tempting even though I already have Chromaphone 3 and Ultra Analog VA-3... Edit: Uh-oh, String Studio VS-3 is $81 at Thomann, $82.00 at Best Service, $83.16 at JRR with code "GROUP", $88.98 at Audio Deluxe with code "JAN2023" applied in cart, and $89.88 at PluginBoutique. I have $2.28 in BestCoin making it $79.72 for me at Best Service... ? https://musicsoftwaredeals.com/price-history/aas-string-studio-vs-3-by-applied-acoustics-systems/
  12. But for that reason A|A|S-wipe has always been a good solution! ?
  13. I just threw that caution out there as this community is a majority of Windows users. A few hardcore Mac heads hang out here in the Deals forum, so all are welcome! I don't personally use a Mac, but other than it's too pricey for me and cannot run Cakewalk, it has some advantages, as you pointed out. I set one up for my Dad, and have a few friends that are graphic artists that use Macs.
  14. Only 3 Pigments updates since version 4 released on December 13th? Arturia sure is getting lazy these days... ?
  15. I have the full Syntronik 2 collection, but I spend more time with my Cherry Audio vintage synth emulations these days. Why? Because I like having full control over the synth. And Cherry Audio has done a reasonably fine job with their Moog emulations. You can get their version of the Memory Moog for $39. https://cherryaudio.com/products/memorymode
  16. For those not familiar with Syntronik, the oscillators are all sample-based so it's not a full synth emulation. The panels for the various synths in the collection contain basically the same controls, with mostly graphic design differences. But since the samples were all recorded from the vintage hardware, you mostly get the sound of the real thing, which can sound great! The various filters were modeled on the leading filter types used by vintage synths, but not exactly from the synth model represented by the Syntronik instrument in use. Also, the preset browser doesn't have a "next" or "previous" button to audition presets with. It requires a double-click to load a preset. So recommend spending a session going through all of the presets and marking your favorites with the "star" icon. This will save you time & frustration later.
  17. Syntronik 2 Memory-V panel Syntronik 2 Memory-V Edit page (V2 presets only)
  18. But Mac handles this much differently than Windows. Using vendor supplied maintenance and uninstall utilities is still the best practice for Windows.
  19. That's typical for most of the free Kontakt libraries to require full Kontakt. Even then, the varied install procedures from the various publishers can make them time consing just to download & check out. Probably better to stick with Decent Sampler libraries if you are looking to explore some free ones. Pianobook carried Decent format.
  20. No! Waves Central > Settings > Maintenance > Uninstall > Select [ V12 Plugins, V13 Plugins, V14 Plugins, etc.]
