  1. Although I prefer the customer-first attitude and business model of most small or one-man shops, something like this should be reassuring to the user base. They are now more than one heartbeat away from a product line being shut down and sold off. Having strong financial backing is a plus, especially if the buyers allow the acquired brand to continue business as usual.
  2. Another +1 for Dell from me! ? Don't have any experience with Dell servers or desktops, but the business grade Latitude laptops are hard to beat for durability and serviceability. I build my own desktops for DAW use, so this comment is about using a laptop for everyday use or as a mobile office. Latitudes were standard issue for mobile and remote workers at the company I worked for. So the last time that I needed to replace a personal laptop, I went with a refurb Dell Latitude, and couldn't be more satisfied. They are built to last, and the user manual has a complete teardown and rebuild guide, so anything such as screen, keyboard, battery, memory, drives, Wi-Fi cards, etc. can be replaced by the user without a lot of hassle. With the refurbs, you can usually find a unit that has been refreshed with the latest OS, and is certainly more budget friendly than new, if you are willing to go with an older model without the latest bells and whistles. My Latitude came with a fresh Windows 10 Professional pre-installed on a HDD. Saved a few bucks by cloning that drive onto a spare SSD that I pulled from a DIY desktop upgrade. Easy swap in a few minutes, and I didn't have to pay more for a refurb that already had a SSD installed! Deal! Or dude, you got a Dell! ?
  3. LibreOffice has come a long way! I do like MS Excel, and occasionally have to look up help when I'm using Libre Calc, but it's good enough for home use! I only use MS Office if my employer is paying for it.
  4. Are you getting a BSOD type of error? The blue screen with "Your PC ran into a problem..." That's frequently a driver issue, but it can also be due to anything unstable in your system, including RAM. If that is the case, there is an advanced Windows setting to prevent automatic restarts after a BSOD, that should leave the error screen in view in case you happen to miss it. If you change that setting, you would need to manually restart. https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/windows-disable-restart-after-bsod
  5. Since I already had Syntronik 1 installed, my approach was a bit different. I combined all of my Syntronik synths into my "Syntronik 2" folder. So with all 34 synths in there working in Syntronik 2, I uninstalled Syntronik 1 to reduce clutter. The synths and presets all work in Syntronik 2, and the presets from v1 (legacy) & v2 can be filtered in the browser. Note: the only limitation is that the v1 presets will not open up in the new v2 "Edit" screen, but all of the legacy views still work. This is a directory list of my Instruments folder: 53_Syntronik Pro-V 53__Syntronik 99 53__Syntronik Blau 53__Syntronik Bully 53__Syntronik DCO-X 53__Syntronik Galaxy 53__Syntronik Harpy 260 53__Syntronik J-60 53__Syntronik J-8 53__Syntronik M-Poly 53__Syntronik Memory-V 53__Syntronik Minimod 53__Syntronik Modulum 53__Syntronik Noir 53__Syntronik OXa 53__Syntronik Polymorph 53__Syntronik Pro-V 53__Syntronik SAM 53__Syntronik SH-V 53__Syntronik String Box 53__Syntronik T-03 53__Syntronik V-80 53__Syntronik VCF3 Syntronik CATO Syntronik GS-V Syntronik KW-8000 Syntronik M-12 Syntronik Megawave Syntronik Obie One Syntronik OSC-V Syntronik Pro-VS Syntronik Sorcerer Syntronik Syner-V Syntronik Triptych
  6. Right, the English edition is released now. I believe the earlier post was only for the German edition.
  7. Pretty soon there are only going to be a few mega companies handling music software development, after they buy out all the small independent ones... ?
  8. The Humble Bundles are widely variable in value offered. I have picked up a few that were awesome, and skipped quite a few as well. Make sure that you really need the stuff on offer...
  9. I have Bazille CM and Beatzille. Have had the full version on my wishlist for a while, but it keeps getting bumped down the list by other shiny new toys. It is a nice synth and I would love to have it someday! I do wonder why Jan voted the OP thumbs down?
  10. I just finished upgrading my last Win 7 PC to Win 10, LOL!!! Think I'll wait for a couple more years to upgrade my one and only PC (out of 3) that is able to run Windows 11.
  11. Pentagon is great for nostalgia, but come on, there are countless very cheap or free soft synths out there today that are currently maintained and supported that blow away 20 year old abandonware soft synths...
  12. Yup, it's Linux servers that rule the world today! Even Microsoft uses Linux in it's Azure cloud platform, LOL!!! https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/solutions/linux-on-azure/#overview
  13. I'm still running Studio One Pro 5.5, but was curious if there were any deals better than the PreSonus shop's current $149 price tag. Thomann is the best deal right now at $111. The runner-up is Best Service at $125.39. Got my last upgrade to v5 there for $99, so it's getting there slowly! https://www.thomannmusic.com/presonus_studio_one_6_pro_ug_1_5_pro.htm Upgrade from PreSonus Studio One 1-5 Professional / Producer to Studio One 6 Professional, requires a registered license of PreSonus Studio One 1-5 Professional / Producer. Note: update version! Requires a registered license PreSonus Studio One 1-5 Professional / Producer!
  14. I'm in IT as well, but not in Linux support. I've tried it at home on and off over many years, and even built several Linux desktops. Also set it up in the office on a couple of obsolete PCs to use as Samba file servers for our team. Linux is a the leading file server or mainframe OS, and it's great for that! I even tried using Ubuntu/Mint as my daily driver desktop PC for a couple of years (but not for my DAW). Finally went back to Windows. I love Windows 10 for my personal desktop PC!
  15. Nothing but Crickets... [chirp] As far as I know this has been an ongoing issue for at least 2 years. AAS support says it's an NI issue. I had to persist with the NI support team to get them to acknowledge that it was an issue. At first they said they could not reproduce it. This was over a year after AAS had already stated that NI had confirmed the problem is on their side. But eventually all I got from NI support was that they would pass it on to their development team but without any commitment to a fix, then they closed the support ticket. I'm done with KK. All I could suggest is to open your own ticket with NI support. Maybe they don't consider it a big enough issue to bother with. More complaints & tickets might get some attention.

  19. Eventide H9 Plug-in Series Bundle Get 'em all here! https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/H9Series--eventide-h9-plug-in-series-bundle I don't have the bundle, but I picked up Blackhole on sale about 4 years ago on sale. Love that one! Then I added Shimmerverb, Ultratap, and Tricerachorus on other sales.
  20. Analog Lab V is worth it. You cannot win if you don't play!
  21. If they have official distributors in the US and Europe, wouldn't that make them subject to the laws of the land that they made the sales in? Just think about the US multinational businesses that market their products globally. Can they get away with scoffing at sovereign laws overseas? I would guess not...
