Thank goodness "Dunescape" is not a trademarked word. I love it as a descriptive term for a sub-genre of so-called "ambient" music I have played around with. I have not read the Dune books and cannot get into the movies at all. That could be related to my non-preference for what some people call "Dark Ambient."
But as a word, "dunescape" is an apt descriptor for cascading/overlapping/evolving/textural music (layered with sonic reflections in much same way light makes patterns over rolling and angular environmentally sculptured dunes). Since my interest in this began with using a Moog at college and since so-called "generative music" has been making a comeback, I am now inspired to try making some dunescapes with my modular soft-synth of choice.
I know this is probably off topic, but thanks for mentioning "dunescape."
I have been a synth-head since the mid-80's, and I have always loved layering sounds from several instruments to create new textures.
In recent years as computers and soft synths have grown in power and capability, I've found that it's even easier to layer sounds while working all in-the-box now. With that said, I have been exploring the creative side of soft samplers alongside my collection of virtual analog, virtual digital, and virtual modular synths.
It's pretty much a given that you can make some very interesting soundscapes and pads with classic synths and some effects. But what I see now is that modern samplers allow you to synthesize with organic waveforms (real world samples). which expands the creative possibilities for entirely never heard before sounds by shaping, blending, and/or morphing them together. I think that some of these sample based instruments from SoundPaint, Mntra, iZotope Iris, and even Unify have the potential to take sound design to the next level. And you can still layer them with traditional synths if desired. Worth exploring, and just my two cents...

I would say that Hans actually shattered the traditional boundaries of orchestration with this Dune score...

There is a video out there with Hans Zimmer on how he got these sounds. The imagination that went into that sound design and the way he pushed his musicians to create sounds from their instruments is incredible.
Thanks! That was a very educational video! Hans is a genius!
I imagine that he would have used Zebra 2/Dark Zebra if he could have gotten these sounds out of a soft synth...

Hello, yesterday I bought the Komplete 13 upgrade, does this have an expiration date? or can I save it for when Komplete 14 comes out?
Does Komplete 14 have a release date yet? There is probably a grace period, but I have no idea how long it is...

The direct link trick too?
Regarding the link from the Groove3 Perks page:
"Enjoy 25% all Eventide plug-ins when shopping online at www.eventide.com. *Can not be applied to sale price plug-ins."
Except nearly everything is on sale...

If you are on the fence regarding Physion, there is a cool Groove3 "Eventide Physion Explained" series by Eli Krantzberg (52 minutes) that is very enlightening!

I was able to Claim the Perk via my iPad - neither desktop browser worked, for whatever reason. Redeemed it, and was able to add MangledVerb to my cart for $25 off. Quickly added the other 9 to the cart, and the
GROOVExxxxxcode had been fixed to knock $2.50 off each, rather than $25...So, I've just saved myself $40, kinda.
Worth noting that the Groove code knocks $25 off the full H9 Set (from $199 down to $174), which isn't a bad deal for 10 plugins, but it's not like I need them.
Update: $40 successfully spent, $4 at a time...
Glad that you found your way in...

But you could do 9 separate transactions for $25 off on each!

and what you have to do to get groove3 perk, what you have to purchase there to get then eventide plugins for $4?
bit lost, thanks for help guys,
First, you need to log in to your Groove3 account. Then go to your "Groove Perks". Find the one for Eventide and "Claim perk" if you are eligible (Requirements: Previous Paid Order at Groove3).
Once the Groove Perk status is "claimed" you simply hit the blue "Redeem Here" button, and you will be taken to the Eventide site. Add the plugin of choice and the discount is applied in the cart when you hit "Checkout".

I did notice that I didnt have the 64 bit vst3 version available. I was running the 32 bit vst2 version... Not sure why it didnt show up initially as I have it in my vst3 folder but I had to switch it to the Steam directory for Z3ta+2 64 vst3 for it to show up.
The Z3TA+2 VST2 is a 64-bit plugin, as is the VST3 version.
The display scaling settings are found (in Windows 10) in the Windows settings applet, in the Display section: "Scale and layout" [100% (recommended)].

Sounds interesting. But at 73.29 GB whoah!!! ?

Not really. I was running at 1080p as for whatever reason games tend to crash more when I have my laptop set to the full resolution despite having graphics settings to 720p or less. But the full resolution is 3200x1800, which I have switched to to see if there is any difference and there is not.
This is really strange, because the Z3TA+2 UI should be rather tiny at that 3200x1800 resolution. It is a legacy plugin that wasn't really designed for today's high resolution screens. So it should shrink as the resolution gets higher.
Are you sure that you don't have scaling enabled? That's the only thing I can think of that may be a factor here...
For me running at 1080P, the Z3TA+2 UI only takes up a minor portion of the screen.
See example:

Extra 30% off plugins, or 25% off Bundles with code Groove3 at Eventide site
Hey thanks for reminding me about the Groove3 perk! Eventide gave me $25 off for that! Got a $29 plugin for $4.
Note: I didn't use the code "Groove3". I logged into my Groove3 account, redeemed my Eventide perk, and hit the "Redeem here" link. That took me to a cart in the Eventide site with the discounted price...

I picked up their Blackhole reverb which I'm loving and is quite a different sounding reverb and good for sound design.
Any other standouts, or recommendations?
I picked up Blackhole a couple of years ago. It's my favorite reverb for sound design. Also grabbed Shimmerverb, which is very nice as well, but a bit more subtle than Blackhole. Adds a nice ambiance to just about any instrument.
These reverbs are best if you dial the wet mix back a little bit to taste... just saying...

Cakewalk plugin window is resizeable if u click corners , n then sliders will appear which u can move ?
That only allows the Cakewalk plugin window itself to be resized, not the actual plugin UI. If you do it that way to shrink the plugin window, the plugin UI will appear cropped and you will need to slide it around to see different parts of it in the window, but not all of it at the same time. Big difference from a re-sizeable plugin!

Z3TA+ 2 does not really have a very big UI on a current HD monitor. Are you using a laptop screen? What resolution and/or scaling are you using?
The only size option that I am aware with this plugin is the show/hide preview strip at the bottom (the virtual keys).

tempting. but can't be arsed to learn a new DAW.
For songwriting or production...

Quote5. You Think About Creating Music and Sound in a Different Way
I’ve spent most of my career in audio capturing, tweaking, massaging and improving other people’s material. This includes recording already-fleshed-out songs in a recording studio, mixing music to sound commercially viable and pleasing to clients, or creating sound design, sound effects editing, and re-recording mixing during film post-production. Because of this, I had begun to think of the concept of a DAW as a means to an end — a tool only designed to capture and achieve a certain standard of audio quality for media to be distributed to the general public.
Perhaps this is why I’ve become enamored with Ableton Live for music production, as it’s more designed towards creating a fun and unique user experience. The process is more exciting because the program seems to be designed for the user to enjoy the journey more so than the final product. It’s nice to take off my mix engineer’s hat and re-frame the way I look at how music is performed and assembled.

Nektar Pacer - for transport control
in Instruments & Effects
Posted
I don't have that unit, but there is some possible good news in the upcoming release of Cakewalk 2022.06, currently available as an Early Access download.
This new feature worked very well for me with a different brand of controller that is Cubase compatible, but never worked very well with Cakewalk before. With the controller set to Cubase DAW Mode, and with Cubase Mode selected in the revised Cakewalk Control Surface definition it's 99% compatible for me now.
Mackie control surface improvements
The Mackie Control surface includes several new enhancements.
New compatibility modes
The NEKTAR is Mackie Control Universal (MCU) compatible, and NEKTAR DAW integration supports Cubase. So this might work! Give it a try! There are a few bugs in the Early Access that have already been reported, and fixes are being pushed into the final release, so you may want to wait until then.
