This morning I installed the 2024.02 update then decided to test it out remixing this old collab & CW project from 2002. I removed all the older plugins & loaded it up with new then remixed / mastered it this afternoon. A bit lo-fi this collab was done with mp3's & 16b files.. All went smoothly, CbB worked well w/o any issues. I'm looking forward to the next chapter of Cakewalk. --> Listen Here

Good tune, takes & mix. Don't worry about loudness so much, mix it to sound good.. it would depend more on if this is a single version or part of an album release.. - great job..

Is compression always necessary?
hsmusic replied to southcoaststeve's topic in Instruments & Effects
Learn about compression but don't rely on it. The way you're mixing now is a great way to handle it. Of course it depends on genre/commercialism too. But a good mix is just that whether you're using comps, eq. ddls or any other trendy fx of the day. I would suggest trying different mixes using each approach then listen.. find out what you like or dislike about each. Keep in mind some of the greatest engineers/ producers don't always use or like using compression at all. -
I've had this problem with InfiniStrip's VST3 crashing CbB since it was released a few years ago, both mono & stereo. This morning I opened CbB after not using it for a few months updated to the latest versions of each. After inserting 2 instances of the strip it crashed CbB hard. Whatever is causing it the issue it still remains a problem.

Nice vibe on this, enjoyed it. Yes, busses come in handy!

Enjoyed it, pulsing & relaxing at the same time. Made for a nice mid day break listen.

Cool track, mix sounded nice in my cans..not overproduced with too many fx, enough to keep it interesting while keeping a good rock vibe.

Hi Mark, on a quick listen on Soundclick to my ears the kick/ sub @35-40 hz. is too much. I think you might try lowering the whole drum track 2-3 db as the high end on it seems a bit hot too. Also try boosting the bass 400hz- 800hz a tad. Grain of salt I'd use either the drum stick or Side Stick but not both & alternating them as you're doing & simplify the part a bit (might try brushes too if you haven't already.) Great tune, enjoyed it. Nice warm vibe I think you just need to dial in the drums a bit..
