Codemeter is the DRM that's apparently there as a default for plugins that are Gorilla based in case the devs don't want to maintain their own licencing procedure. It's an extremely complicated, bloated and somewhat intrusive software for simply being used to activate the licence for a ~130 buck virtual instrument. No idea how it works on Apple stuff, but on Windows it opens a bunch of services and needlessly runs a local webserver which all you need to nuke down yourself. Just a hassle that does far more than it needs to do. Best part is that I haven't found a way to actually manage the licence via the software (ie. deactivate for example). You can find more experiences on VI Control and Gearspace etc.

Unbelievable how one can screw up an installer in the year of 2024. It's not like installers and good practices are exactly a recent development.

Actually I was wrong. Gorilla is not the problem. Got confused that it was the licence manager, but it isn't. Codemeter is. So I guess they'll stay on the shiet-list for as long as they have that trainwreck slapped on.

Great news. I've always whined about Gorilla. This will definitely put the rest of their products on my shopping list.

Sad to see them hang up, but I think I last checked Vue 15-20-ish years ago? None the less, I have huge respect for the people there for making the software free as their last huzzah.

How does it compare with Flux Stereotool v3 (which is free), Melda's MStereoGenerator or Plugin Alliance's bx_stereomaker?

How promising is SM3 compared to the previous versions?

I got "The Bundle" when they previously added something significant to it (SEM?) and then got OB-EZ for free later. However, seems like this time they haven't added DMX to the bundle for previous users. Can't find any loyalty discounts/crossgrades either.

Wonder if this is gonna get added to the Obe Bundle?

It's amazing that Serif got a payday with Affinity by creating a product that respects the user (not that I like that they sold themselves, but whatever) whereas Magix and others of such ilk create software that basically feels like bloatware/adware, instead of focusing on actually creating well optimized, fluid, great products. If they fall over, they've got only themselves to blame for being stagnant and doing crap software.

Without talking about this particular collection (which I find might be reasonably priced on sale), these sound banks always make me wonder about the "value". While I do realize that it takes a lot of time and effort to make good presets that people find worth paying for (and baking in the price of a licence to use said sounds), at msrp of 105 bucks, you could still get a new decent/great virtual synth or instrument at that price. Just wondering how do you calculate how much a new bank is worth?
