  2. I just found an even better deal. Did yall know theyre offering Cakewalk by Bandlab for FREE?! 😆
  3. I think I mentioned this in the past but u could copy the beat from a song u like then take a chord progression or bassline from a diff song and play it backwards (reverse the progression) over that beat. And then just play around with it until u hear something u like. Btw, Many pros work this way. It's just a proactive way of creating. As long as u end up with something original sounding, who cares where it came from. Just mimic a part, reverse a part &/or cram diff things together and see where it leads u. It's up to you of course but Id just try it and see how it works. If it doesn't work for u, so be it. But if it does help u spark ideas, it could be more than a one time experiment. It could be part of the way u craft music in the future. Cheers!

  5. Easy pwallie. I think that's against forum terms 🫣
  6. First, buy a cat (if u dont already own one). Then buy a mouse. Place them both at the piano then press record. Lastly, let the cat try to kill the mouse. It should result in some great music. Here's an example...
  7. Sup pwallie? Am I missing the connection here? Please rem to explain if it's not obvious 🙏
  8. I think the only creativity killer is not using ur emotions and ur inner ear. Someone with creative passion will compose with or without theory. Either way, that music will have emotional substance. But creativity that comes from the brain only, using theory alone, is kind of like A.I. It'll prob leave u feeling pretty empty. To make music worth hearing, one needs to follow the muse even more than they follow theoretical maps. Note: I think technology is a much bigger killer of creativity than theory. Too many people seem more concerned with collecting plugins, mics, amps, rack gear, etc than growing as musicians and writers. I also think many people are developing computer-like thinking. Where visuals and mathmatic type thinking are at the forefront and the heart & emotions seem to shrink from lack of use. (It's the geek disease! 😄) I think we'd all be better off using minimal gear and working harder on the music than on acquiring new toys. (It def helps prevent 'option anxiety' 😵‍💫)
  9. Yeah, that was a cool video. Karen is one of the few people, besides myself, who sings in perfect tune 🫣
  10. Stray Cats, Stray Cat Strut (double points)
  11. Very nice. It's a cool version. Btw, I actually played this song on guitar for my end-year performance when I was in Strings in Junior High. All three judges gave me high scores but all three said the feel wasnt quite right in one of the sections. In my defence, I had never heard the song. This was back in the mid 80s and my local record store didnt have a cassette of it. I'm sure a great sight reader wouldnt have had a probem but oh well. I just blame it on my Strings teacher. In the words of Mr Miyogi... "No such thing as bad student, only bad teacher". 😄

  14. Yes, and a company offering the option of purchase OR subscription, like presonus, is a GOOD thing. That's completely diff than Bandlab forcing subscription only. I was gonna mention that in my second response to wookiee but it's starting to feel like a waste of time so I just let it rest. Im sure everyone's gonna keep complaining but the only way bandlab will offer a license is if more people refuse the subscription only model. Money is what talks. If someone bellyaches but still buys the sub, then they LITERALLY support the subscription only model. The rest is just noise. That's why I never subbed. As I said in a diff thread, Id rather buy a somewhat inferior daw than have a subscription. And that's aside from the principle involved which makes me wanna jump ship even more. When they eventually end CbB, I guess then we'll see what happens to those who are hanging in the wings right now. I personally am not doing the sub thing. But ultimately, I cant blame bandlab for the 'steady money' grab if they can get enough people to go along with it. It's really up to the customer base.
  15. I hear u bud and hope u know I wasnt throwing shade at u personally. Cheers 👍
  16. Cheers Wookiee. In my view, that all depends on how many people are willing to subscribe and what the future competition does. No one has a crystal ball and capitalism has way of helping the little guy too. Clearly, the majority of people who dont make a living with their daw HATE subscriptions. So, if more daw companies force subscription only, that just may incentivize a company to make a good, reasonably pro daw with a perpetual license. If so, they will definitely have my business and Im certain MANY others too. Surely, Bandlab already knows this which is why they dont like people talking about other daws on here. With a free market system, no company or business model is really secure. Btw, Im still using CbB but I would gladly BUY Sonar. That means Bandlab will lose my business with sub only. But hey I get it, if they make more money thru sub only, more power to them. But between that and the squirrely way theyve done the switch over(should've just been straight from the start), I feel no loyalty to Bandlab. And "Cakewalk" is just another name for Bandlab now.
  17. I just gently shook them while playing this sweet lil diddy...
