  1. Great one Jack ! Sounds like you've got Steely Dan backing you up. Very nice melody , playing and mix .. mark
  2. Hello , I'm proud to be posting a new high energy funk song on my 68th birthday ! I used my G&L thru TH3 , MT Power drums , HaNon B70 organ synth , and finally restrung my Ibanez bass. Amazing what new bright strings will do. Any and all mix suggestions are welcomed . "Thanks" .. mark

    Fly Away

Rex , there is No way I could possibly explain how beautiful this is. Your harmony weaving made me tear up .. I found the waveform of the song quite interesting , no loss of power or perceived volume on the last half of the song that looks heavily limited ?? I honestly believe you've written a classic here. Loved it , felt it .. mark
  4. Great vocals Gary ! You keep surpassing yourself with your mixing skills. Loved it .. mark
  5. Welcome to the forum ! Very Good timing and mix. I loved the whistling . I think we're going to hear some Great music from you . You also made a good choice choosing Cakewalk. This is by far the best forum out there with helpful people willing to help with anything. No suggestions from me at this stage . Enjoyed it .. mark
  6. Very Nice. I really enjoyed the Celtic sounding section and the way the ambient synth shadowed the piano. Same midi track ?? Enjoyed it. mark
  7. Phillip , Nice song and structure. I am listening on a laptop with Cheap headphones , but what is getting my attention is the volume of the bass guitar and the boom in some of the notes , masking the mix. The vocals sound "muffled" like predominant low mids and not enough highs. (especially the highs). For reference , flip your master bus to mono and the bass problem should really stick out. Good luck I'm sure you will get it right .. mark
  8. Seems I've seen this problem on another thread , but I actually think it was Before the arranger track was introduced. A work around would be to fill them up with more music ..

    addicted

Very smooth vocals Jack. I think this is your genre as far as vocal performance is concerned. Great job .. mark
  10. Nice "live" feel on this one Douglas. Very cool song and I especially liked the drum mix. I felt like I was in the drum booth. Enjoyed it .. mark
  11. With your sound , you should do Very well. I like the silky "air" in your voice. Sometimes you can lose it by overusing the auto tune effect. I think you hit the right spot. What region are you from ? You sing with a mild lovely accent. Good Luck .. mark

    Rambling

Very tight performance. I always like the way you use your tremolo bar. Nice .. mark
  13. Paul , I thought this was a Very well written song. You also have a Wonderful voice , great range and beautiful overtones. I think this song deserves some additional time consuming , boring , tedious timing editing. Very impressive .. mark
  14. Send Mcleod a project as he suggested.
  15. Very immersive . I loved the mix ! It took me on a magical mystery tour. mark
  16. The bouzouki tone sounds Fantastic ! As well as the flute. Great job capturing All the instruments. Enjoyed it .. mark
  17. @antler Thanks for the comment and suggestion. I deleted some of the cymbal crashes , but it seemed to leave a hole so I just turned them down giving them a little more "ride" sound. @DeeringAmps @AndyB01 @Paul Bush Thank you for your time and comments. I cleaned up some of the noises in the tracks, fixed some timing issues, adjusted the crash cymbal and EQ'd and brought the bass up a little. The original link now reflects this remix. I may go back in and add some more bass notes on the 1 beat , I think that's where I'm not satisfied with it. I'm going to get away from the song for a while. Thank You to everyone for helping me with this instrumental. mark
  18. @noynekker Thanks for the reply , I'm really glad you enjoyed it. The slightly to the right guitar used in the intro , was what I used to play the vocal line (that I had been singing .. with some fills) . It would be interesting to hear other peoples choice of a melody. PM me if you want to give it a go .. @Tim Smith I appreciate the comments , and no I'm not much of a drummer or bass player. @Douglas Kirby Thanks , yeah it was Barry's comment that inspired me to download it. There's actually not much of it here except for some fills and I piano rolled some cymbal stuff in. I've started a new song and going to try and give the drums a proper workout. There's a Lot of cool stuff in them. @David Sprouse Thanks , no sub on the kick . Most of it was SI drum loops. I just looked at it closely and there is a lot of sub freq. coming thru on the kick. Do you monitor with subs ? I low passed the entire mix before I could hear it. Thank You All .. mark
  19. Douglas , I really liked the chorus's . To me they had a "Santana" feel . Good playing .. mark
  20. @jack c. Thanks , I wish I could play like Larry Carlton .. @garybrun Thank You , I'm Never satisfied until You are. I don't think I'm playing any tighter , just getting better at editing.. @PJH I revisited my mix and saw that at some point I turned the comp. off on my bass track and failed to turn it back on before exporting. I did a little more EQ work on it also , I think it's better. I'll repost later. Thank You .. mark
  21. You captured the dark side of our life giving sun Very nicely. Great mix and I really like how you ended it .. mark
  22. Peter , that was Very nice and informative. I Love watching your videos and seeing how Easy you and your bandmates make it look to get that Incredible sound. (with the exception of Larry) he looks like he is always working hard. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for all the hard and tedious work. mark
  23. @PJH Thanks for the listen and bass observation. I'll see what I can do with it. It's not really cutting thru the mix very well , I think it's more than a volume problem. I just ordered new strings , I change them every 10 years. Coming from the King of guitar tones I "really" appreciate it. @Wookiee Thanks for the response , it's always nice to hear your opinion. @KurtS Thanks for confirming a bass issue. The 3 electric guitar tracks were recorded with different pickup selections , I think that helped with the separation between them. I'll probably EQ them further to carve a hole for the bass. @Larry T. Appreciate it , seems like my lead work is mainly "fills" without any actual "solo". I'm trying to work on that .. Thanks ..mark
  24. Hello , here's another new one that's turned into an instrumental. I may revisit the vocals later. SI and MT drums , my G&L electric and the first time recording a small section with a Washburn acoustic. Nits , crits , and suggestions are welcomed . Thanks for your time .. mark
