Did your kids ever learn to turn off the lights?
RobertWS replied to Gswitz's topic in The Coffee House
Electric heaters, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and refrigerators are the main users of electricity...not lights. -
I would like to suggest a new musical genre celebrating the 2nd amendment.....Glock and Roll!

The song hooked me. I had to keep listening to see what was going to happen next! Nice.

Thanks to all those who served. And to all those currently serving...be safe.

As I get older, I find ALL print media is using smaller and smaller print!

Me too. I'm hoping I can get to a point where I don't know I'm slipping!

It looks like your template files are gone, or Cakewalk is looking in the wrong folder. http://forum.cakewalk.com/SOLVED-Mastering-templates-missing-m3710368.aspx

Cool, that accomplishes what I want. (I was thinking of the snap following the grid settings, but flipping it around, the grid following the snap settings, works fine!)

OK, I was kidding about the fragile ego. And the "extreme risk" is zero since, as you've probably surmised, my name is an alias. Thanks for the comments. Musical tastes are a vast spectrum. Personally, I'd rather listen to Billie Holiday sing on an old scratchy 45 RPM mono record than some over produced wall of sound garbage. Which may be ironic, because I only work with MIDI. ritardando: In music, becoming gradually slower; diminishing in speed: same as rallentando and (usually) ritenuto (but see the latter). Abbreviated rit. and ritard. The Firefox spell checker flagged them all!

True. But I'm talking about the PRV and moving or stretching notes. I always want them to snap to a grid line.

When working with MIDI files some preferences are not saved.
RobertWS replied to RobertWS's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I think I'll try saving projects as CWP files and every now and then as a MIDI file to satisfy my illogical desire to be pure MIDI. That will be less work than constantly readjusting all the settings. Thanks for the help/comments. -
I just grokked the smart grid feature! If you watch the Note Duration in the snap-to-grid panel, you can see it change as you zoom in and out of the PRV. I suggest one more option. Snap to Grid Lines. It seems much more intuitive...isn't that what the lines are there for?

I thought I'd put my fragile ego at extreme risk and upload a song. Resolution

I have to continually reset: -Metronome Count in. -Metronome Midi Note. -Local Snap to Grid settings in the PRV (number of ticks). -Recording Mode (overwrite). -Track View/Midi: Show Velocity check box. Does anyone know if there is a way to make these persist? After the first twenty times of resetting them, it starts to get a bit annoying.

This is no key combination...just press J

Anything You Find Confusing About CbB?
RobertWS replied to Craig Anderton's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I just made a bug report on that very issue. You think you are selecting two full bars, but CW is only selects the notes in the bars...if there is 'white space' before or after the first or last note, the selection shrinks! And that is what gets pasted. -
That's funny. Did you hire a writer? Oops....that's not sarcasm. When is passive aggressive month?
-
I find selecting the 'Selection' tool before copying and pasting stops the surprises.

$1,000,000 The World's Greatest Audio Systems
RobertWS replied to Wibbles's topic in The Coffee House
To keep things in perspective, Billie Holiday sounds good on scratchy, mono 45's. Real good. -
I'm really enjoying this thread.

I think a month celebrating sarcasm is fantastic! You reserve the party room and I'll order the decorations and champagne!

You might be able to access/edit/delete the volume change events in the Event List view. As a workaround. (At least when working with midi files you can).
