  1. Nope. It was an option in PRV when you had a split view of the midi events with the velocity in the bottom view.
  2. I'm back in the studio, and I don't think I was clear on my explanation of what I am looking for. There used to be a line tool where one side was "anchored" on the left so as to make drawing a perfectly straight horizontal line across multiple MIDI note velocities was easy. I've seen the current line drawing tool, but the one I'm trying to refer to is the one I described above. If you can imagine you had a string that had one end pinned down with a tack. Pulling the opposite end tight would make it easy to create a straight line. That's how the line tool used to work as an option. Anyone remember that?
  3. Hello Group-- Many CW versions ago, in PRV, there was an edit tool where you could use a straight line to edit velocity. Either the activation of that tool is somewhere I can no longer find it (probably not), or the tool was removed in past versions. It's hard to explain, but if you used to use it, you know what I mean (I hope). Is it still an option? If not, would anyone like to see that come back? Thanks,
  4. Awful! Sorry for all that. I've had stuff stolen, but nothing like that.
  5. Hey @Noel Borthwick I wasn't using fast mode because I wasn't sure the plugins in the project would support it.
  6. Hello All-- I'm going to wrap up at least my part of the OP. I found out there is no hack. I can either scour the Internet for an old version of HitFilm Express or upgrade to the current version of Vegas Pro. Neither option looks attractive to me, so I'm going to just work with what I've got. I would like to add that even though my DAW is rock solid for audio, video is another thing. If I want to sample some FX on a video clip, the preview is jumpy and jerky. I can play clips with no FX, and I can render whatever I want and it comes out good--but I can't play clips with FX assigned smoothly. It reminds me of when I used to try to keep Melodyne as a plug-in in realtime in Cakewalk. Just doesn't work that way. I have to bounce the section with Melodyne. That's my rig anyway. Well, thanks for all the input!
  7. That is very interesting. If they are transcoding my audio, they're doing pretty poopy job at it. I'll check out the youlean meter. Thanks!
  8. Hello-- Yes, it's just this project. No issues with other current or old projects. I hate to sound like I'm throwing in the towel, but the "improvements" I've made in the remix aren't compelling enough to justify resolving the dropout issue. From a financial standpoint, you might say I'm at the point of diminishing return. So, I'm going to just let this one go. It's a 7 year old project and after remastering the original mix, I've actually improved the final outcome, so I'm OK with punting on this one. Thanks for your time. I'll mark the OP subject as "skipped" ?
  9. Hello-- I'm noticing my audio is sounding muffled, like the highs have been cut on my videos that I upload to YouTube. I go back through my original audio and they all sound fine. So, something is happening in either the render or upload (or both) process. Ideally, I would like the best video and audio quality, but since these are music videos, if I had to lean to one side or the other, I would prefer the audio quality. In Vegas Pro, I am using an MP3 file for my music track. Then I render with the MP4 (AVC/AAC) Internet HD 1080p template. I can try using a higher quality audio track in my video timeline, but wanted to see if I should be rendering with a different setting or is there an audio setting tweak from within Vegas that would help? Thanks!
  10. Well, it's not on my external SAS drive, and now it's dropping out when I play it instead of just when I mixdown. I had Notifications turned on already, but only lasting 2 seconds. I changed it to 10, but nothing is popping up. Is there anywhere else I can retrieve my drop-out reason code?
  11. Oh, perfect. I'll check that out. I don't get the pop-up window when I get the drop-out, like in the post you linked to. Just the tiny white drop-out indicator. Where do I get my drop-out logs to check the reason? Big thanks!
  12. Would this be the same as an audible bounce? I did try an audible bounce. The one thing that occurred to me is that maybe the last time I saved this project it was to my external SAS drive, and maybe it is mixing down to that drive now. Other than that, I'm at a loss. :-(
  13. Hey Group-- I'm trying to remix an old project of mine, and now that I have the mix set where I want it, I keep getting dropouts during the mixdown. I've frozen tracks with FX on them, removed duplicate FX instances and sent them to a bus instead. I removed 64-bit processing too. I can play the track though with no issues, but when I try to bounce to tracks, a few seconds after it starts, it keeps dropping out. Any ideas on what I can do? Thanks
  14. I sure will look into some bargain upgrades to a more current version of Vegas Pro. Thanks.
  15. Well, there was a Yamaha MTX1 on eBay for $100, which was lower than what I'd seen. Since I pay $20 to a service to transfer regular stereo tapes, I made an offer of $30 on the MTX1, with no intention of going any higher. Yup, they accepted. So long as it works as said, I'm all set! EDIT: I should have worried when the seller immediately accepted my offer of $30 when the asking price was $100. No haggling. It was sold as 'used' and if you know eBay, that means it works but scratches and dings, etc. Well, the item arrived in decent condition. I plugged it in with its non-factory adapter, and it powered on. It brought back some great memories. Then, while trying to load a cassette, I noticed the play heads and roller were in the play/record position = extended. They should be retracted while in stop mode so you can insert or eject a tape. Then, when you press play or record, they extend into the bottom casing of the cassette tape. I don't want to bust a cassette, and it certainly would be harder to get a tape out with the heads extended than forcing one in, so I watch an old YouTube video (hey, it's been over 30 years!) Sure enough, you place the top of the tape in first, then click the bottom in. I saw no heads extended in the video. I've already reached out to the seller and they claim to be ignorant about the issue--although, again, going straight to accepting less than a third of the asking price tells me otherwise. Anyway, eBay now has a guarantee, so I'm getting my money back, but I sure am disappointed. I'll try again with another used deck. I'll find one!
  16. Well a day later and a new reboot, I decided since it keeps crashing on impact, that I'd just download anew from the BL website, and that's what I did. It works now.
  17. Yeah, they offered to do that at the transfer company, but I didn't trust their ability to match each pair's timing correctly. Of course, I don't have a stereo cassette deck either.
  18. Hello Yes, these are the stereo on both sides of the tape kind. Since this is a one-off, I was hoping to get a referral to a service that provides 4-track to digital transfers and not buy a deck that I'll never use again. Thanks for the heads up on the NR -I read that. I also read that not all 4-track players record at the same speed. I know my Yamaha MT1X had a pitch slider, so that would have been great the keep. We played my cassettes at the transfer company and the quality is still good. Just half the tracks are on the flip side and backwards!
  19. Hello-- I tried updating the BL Assistant last night and each time I hit the update button it just crashed. I tried a few times and gave up. I thought I saw someone else mention this, but wasn't sure if there was a fix or if there's a crash log someone wants to see?
  20. Hey All I can Google this, but would prefer a recommendation. I've got a few audio masters that are in 4 track cassette formats and want to transfer them to a wav file. I have a company near me that is doing stereo cassette transfers, but they don't have a 4 track player. Any recommendations? Thanks!
  21. The answer? You spoiled me! I get the best answers, from friendly pros here in a fraction of the time as with other forums. Here's my question for those of you working with video software. Prior to Magix buying Sony Vegas, you could integrate functionality between Vegas and Hitfilm Express. After Magix, no mas...(I'm leaving out the details because you already know all this) I'm seeing conflicting posts that there are hacks to make Vegas recognize Hitfilm formats, but then there's a contradicting post somewhere else. So, before I go down a rabbit hole, I thought I'd ask this group since many of you do video as well. What is the current answer and hack for HF Express v 13.1 and Vegas Pro 13? Many thanks! Stephen
  22. I read as much as I could. Did @Craig Anderton decide to write the article or not?
  23. This one puzzled me for a while too and I found out the solution in this forum. If you arm a particular take lane, when you start recording you won't hear anything playing from that track. If you want to hear the other take lane(s) play during recording a new take lane, just arm the track (not an individual take lane).
  24. Thanks, I just grabbed this before the time ran out. It's something I can use, but not really enough to pay for it. Thanks again for posting this! (BTW - a typo in the OP subject ? )
