  1. Thanks David. Agree with you and treesha, the piece would be a nice match with a short film or specific sequence in a longer one. Cheers????
  2. Thanks treesha. Wanted to do something different. Cheers????
  3. Steely Dan fans rejoice. If you haven't heard yet Roger Nichols daughter Cimcie found, had restored and released the last mix before being accidentally erased of "The Second Arrangement". We've all heard the less than stellar quality versions but this is probably as close to Steely Dan quality as there is at this time. I've read there is a 15ips version (as opposed to the studio 30ips standard tape speed) around but hasn't been released, as well as an actual complete re-recording by the Dan but was nixed by Donald. link to complete 20 minute cassette which has the song with vox, an instrumental version and early version of "Third World Man" (called "Were You Blind That Day"): https://expandingdan.substack.com/p/second-arrangement-steely-dan-roger-nichols-tape link to Cimcie's song/video on YouTube:
  4. Interesting soundscape. Your transitions and segues are great????

    Far Cry

Really good. Good existential angst lyrics (there would be no great songs without them, "Bring in the Clowns", "Comfortably Numb", "Anti-Hero"). Your compositions are so interesting, lots of melodies moving in and out, sometimes solo and sometimes layered????

Echo the Dan influence. Extremely well crafted, played, recorded and mixed. All the instruments are clear and very well EQ'ed...the balance is all a matter of taste and I hear no problems with this mixes balances at all????
  7. Sounds nice. I had a 12 string Ovation for awile around the early eighties. Really liked the guitar and I shouldn't have sold it????
  8. Thanks so much Nigel. It's not really a song and it's not really a soundscape....maybe a songscape???? Slowly but seemingly surely my "mixing ears" are getting the hang of it????

    Galaxy HD 1

As a homage to the film this works incredibly well. I also think it would stand extremely well on its own without the audio clips. Great work as always????
  10. Great song, nice taste of hip hop mixed with some electronic touches. So glad you have a short instrumental break as most songs today completely overdo vocals, would like to see the lyrics????
  11. Great song, interesting production that works, great vox, great unexpected touches/flourishes in the piece????
  12. Thanks Bjorn. Yes, the mood exploration using the guitar chords was the center of this piece. There are augmented, diminished, ninth....any chord that could convey a spooky scenario. In fact, the intro uses one of the Arturia Augmented Strings synths that is playing midi notes that I wrote for SI Strings for the outro but is being played much faster than the outro and with different audio textures and effects.
  13. I'm new to synth's too, so, don't know if it has another name. I've watched some YouTube synth How to Play tutorials and found this stuff, which explains controls that every synth has, has helped: ☆Oscillator-creates the sound ☆Filter-cuts unwanted frequencies ☆LFO-effect to add movement ☆ADSR(Amplitude) Envelope-affects the timing I'm using Analog Lab V Lite by Arturia. I really can't praise the wide spectrum of musical possibilities it offers enough. Here's a screen shot showing the Portamento control (not all of the synths have it, guess it depends on the type of audio it can affect):
  14. Thanks Rik. I do believe you are right....I'll ring Ghostbusters!!!! Cheers????
  15. Thanks so much. This is the song where I learned what a synth's Portamento knob does (example: from 00:27 to 00:34). Cheers????
  16. Greetings all. This is "Where Ghosts Go to Die". Nits and crits welcomed. 17. Excellent. The lyrics are great, as are vox and the production you used....tasteful flourishes of beauty....the instrumental section works....really nice????
  18. Excellent. Well written. Nice melodies throughout the song. The only part I'd change is delete the big change to upbeat around 2:13, leave the mood as is, but just my taste. Well done????
  19. Haven't heard the original but what you've done here is great. Groove, vibe, vox delivery, tempo variations....all great????
  20. Beautiful. Great song melodies, well written by Kenzie. Minimal yet powerful lyrics. Production is sparse but works perfectly. Your daughter's voice is amazing on this. She makes it real and valuable. Good luck????
  21. I listened to yours first then Townes version. They're both great. Your version is better musically imho, a different kind of production that respects the original but adds valuable originality????
  22. Great stuff. Playing , mix....everything. This piece reminds me a bit of one of my favorite albums of Pure Reason Revolution "Amor Vincit Omnia"????
  23. Really nice, especially MrsDaryl's vocals. Great playing, production and mix????

Great work jack. This one reminds me of a song you posted here a year or so ago, "My Special Place" if I remember correctly, that one has always been my favorite of yours. Cheers????
  25. Nice work. Everything fits together really well????
