  1. Cymatics - (from Ancient Greek: κῦμα, romanized: kŷma, lit. 'wave') is a subset of modal vibrational phenomena. The term was coined by Swiss physician Hans Jenny (1904–1972). Typically the surface of a plate, diaphragm, or membrane is vibrated, and regions of maximum and minimum displacement are made visible in a thin coating of particles, paste, or liquid.[1] Different patterns emerge in the excitatory medium depending on the geometry of the plate and the driving frequency. I think these would make awesome wall art! Maybe someday... Enjoy!
  2. Let me know once you're in town and I'll steer you down a few wrong directions I can try to answer any questions you might have! ?
  3. Note that the strongest winds are from the East, but the trees are ready for that direction. Here's what happens when a strong wind comes from the South: My house in Troutdale: The house I had my Mom in in Gresham:

  5. Simples. LOTS of lights and plenty of time to stay inside and play music. That said, before I moved up here I kept hearing "it rains all the time!" and yet, after 20+ years, I STILL haven't used any of the umbrellas I brought up here with me. Don't like the weather? Just wait 10 minutes. ?
  6. Could be the best thing to happen to your mental health in a while? ? Sorry, can't be helpful on this topic Bob. Facebook screwed me over several years ago when I was only using them for ads. I had a separate credit card that was ONLY for use in buying their ads and it was declined a few months in because, get this, they (Facebook) believed there were questionable charges on it! SMH... After many attempts to get a real human to talk to me on the phone (not possible, though it should always be possible if I'm paying money), a guy messaged me and, after a few back and forths, I found out he was only 19 and had ZERO clue about anything. That was the last time I was an account on Feckbook. I don't miss it!
  7. Heh, I still have the memories of when I first moved up here! ?
  8. As the old saying goes, "How can you tell if a politician is lying? Their lips are moving!"
  9. You misspelled "politician" Bob. ?
  10. Are these last ones in the right thread? ?
  11. I met Terri Nunn of Berlin once in San Diego at a Licorice Pizza, if anyone remembers those! Great name for a record store! Man did she seem short! Her bio says 5' 6", but that must have been with heels on... (Well, and I am 6' 4" though...)
  12. From what little I've seen, he'd probably learn to play it somehow!
  13. This makes me sad. But, piloting and doing loops at 90 years of age???
  14. I'm guessing having a secondary prize would have been a better option, eh? SMH... That said, the winner has a great attitude! Most of us could learn a lot from him!
  15. I also think it's funny, looking back as we can now, that David changed his last name from Jones to Bowie so as not to be confused with David (Davy) Jones from the Monkees!
  16. Sorry, but as soon as I was thinking about those Bowie collabs, I just thought of this one! Here's a couple of versions for your entertainment! ? Bowie and Mick Jagger - Dancing In The Streets Original And my favorite version! ?
