Would you buy Cakewalk By Bandlab?
Mánibranðr Studios replied to Shane_B.'s topic in The Coffee House
I paid for Sonar X1 Producer and a few upgrades, like sample packs for Session Drummer 3, and world instruments for Dimension pro. I'd say IF and only IF they include an update to Dimension Pro to bring it in line with more modern systems and workflows, and also include Rapture and Z3ta 2, then I would. Something like Roland SCVA but with multi-timbral outputs would be nice too, as would porting the DXis like Roland GrooveSynth, Psyn II, Triangle, Square, Pentagon, Beatscape, Cyclone and Hexagon to a more modern 64-bit format. (Why? Nostalgia, of course!) I think overall, they did a good job of de-Gibsonifiying the DAW and made it useful as a workhorse DAW once again. -
Add Plugin To Frozen Track
Mánibranðr Studios replied to Rich O'Reilly's topic in Instruments & Effects
Another way would simply be to create a chain of patch points, I think you can bounce with FX that way too, that way when you want to go back a step you can unfreeze until you get to the point you want to change and then refreeze the tracks. The reason this is useful is that there are some FX you'd want to freeze as they take up a lot of CPU and add a lot of latency, and/or a part of the sound design process. Or maybe you just want to generate samples to add to your sampler. -
It's hard to put into words the feeling you get when you let go of the bonds of your body and explore the vast expanse of the universe by your lonesome self. It may seem lonely at first, but eventually many spirits like yourself pop up, all bearing different shades of purple, al coming from different lifetimes, different world, but all bearing the same struggles you did to get there. In that moment, you are one with the universe, basking in the serenity of the purple rain that is existence. This started off as an experiment with ambient electronica loops provided by Bandlab. Valerie did most of the work, I just happened to take over the mixing and mastering work. - Julayla

That's brutal. Guess upgrading will have to wait. -
Modo SE crazy deals, 40 bucks.
Mánibranðr Studios replied to Finnbogi Ragnar Ragnarsson's topic in Deals
Is there/will there be a crossgrade option for those who own the full version of Amplitube 4 and want to upgrade to the full version of Amplitube 5? -
My first attempt at a trap beat that turned into a 9 minute long orchestral trap hybrid epic about a character coming to life from a story from a wish.
-
I use it to lay down some rhythmic and percussive beds for anything that involves orchestral and cinematic elements.

Just want to poke in and remind you that Orchestools 306 is a thing and may contain some cello-ish sounds that would suit you.

Pendulate plugin Good for SciFi
Mánibranðr Studios replied to Joel Stolarski's topic in Instruments & Effects
Keep in mind that the algorithm for Pendulate's tone generation is very CPU-heavy since it's modelling twin pendulum physics at audio playback rates. You will want to freeze a few instances to free up CPU cycles. The only real way around this would be to get a more powerful CPU. -
Now if only Behringer would fulfill his promise to donate 1000 synthesizers to underprivileged kids.

Just to let you know, I did grab it and I was not disappointed. I was considering getting Cinematic Keys instead, but space concerns nudged me into this deal. Great find!
-
While the cost to upgrade leaves a lot to be desired, they make up for it by giving a lot of really cool stuff for free regularly. (Though their hardware is just....no. Do yourselves a favour and stay away from the iRig Keys, the keybed feels about on par with budget Casio tier.)

Sonitus Reverb Goes Nuts
Mánibranðr Studios replied to Terry Kelley's topic in Instruments & Effects
True, In which case, free ones have cropped up that blew me away, like Valhalla Supermassive, the TAL Reverb plugins, CloudSeed, and OrilRiver. The Melda Free Reverb also works wonders. -

Freeware Instruments Thread
Mánibranðr Studios replied to Starship Krupa's topic in Instruments & Effects
There doesn't seem to be that much of an overlap between some of the standalone VSTis -
Yeah, on reflection, it would be more prudent to just grab Celestial Voices Calypso on APD.

Pfundstein Audio Plugins Bassline FREE Public Beta
Mánibranðr Studios replied to cclarry's topic in Deals
So I gave it a try, and here are my initial thoughts. The Rock Amp output sounds like fried rectums. The Clean and Direct DI sounds much better even when put through a free amp sim. (I used Duality Bass Studio) The pop playing style that happens at velocities 100 or over feels a bit abrupt with a very sharp attack, which is fine on its own, but doesn't fit in well with the slower attack of the lower velocity groups. It would be nice if there was a ramp up to the pop playing style, so that the transition feels smoother. I am not sure I like the way it does hammer-ons and pull-offs, there doesn't seem to be any way to control the attack transient of those articulations, as the velocity of the note played is what controls if the hammer-on/pull off range is a semitone or a whole tone. I would prefer an auto-legato system where if the end of a note overlaps with the start of the next note, it automatically plays the next note in a hammer-on or pull-off articulation if the next note is played at under 64 velocity, with a maximum range of...say 3 total semitones from the principal note, and the attack of the legato is determined by the velocity of the next note. -
How well does this library stack up with others of its type? I am genuinely curious.

These samples are of very high quality, and the interface is pretty intuitive and lightweight that allows you to do some light sound design on them with. Don't sleep on this one.

It would be nice if the items fit into the layout instead of having everything veer off to the right and not listing every item that fits into the strip category. Some of the elements that were on the KontaktHub's item page are no longer functional, like an embedable Soundcloud playlist. I noticed because I had a demo track for Hideaway Studio's Zero-1 Synth featured on its page as a part of the song demos playlist and as an embedded Soundcloud track that Dani manually put there, and they're both gone, as is the option to contribute demo tracks for Kredits. The playlist and demo song preview feature is still dysfunctional. I think the site could have used a bit more time to bake in the oven before being served, because it's a little bit raw right now.
