  1. You don’t use it that way. You have to render the track first then re do it . You can’t edit clips that are open in Melodyne outside of Melodyne. They are locked. You will want the spend a few hours watching their most excellent tutorials. It works best if you open Melodyne in short clips. I normally open one line of a lyric. Then I render immediately. If I feel the clip is not working properly with Melodyne (it really sucks) then I usually just delete that clip and redo it.
  2. I’m Dyslexic. And my excuse is I am also an old railway guy. So GNR , CPR, CNR, BNR. It just rolls off the tongue ?
  3. Please carefully read my post. I said the Bandlab Assistant was removed months ago. So of course it doesn’t work. You log in to the Bandlab/ Cakewalk web site using the log in window that should automatically open when you click on activate. I think the reason a few people seem to have issues is due to the log in window doesn’t appear for some reason. So you just go to the web site and log in. What is broken is we should be logged in permanently due to the fact we are on this forum. I myself don’t understand why we need to keep re logging in.

    InterLok?

Definitely if you have Air or some Izotope stuff.
  5. I actually only have that one request and it’s a white PRV. It’s impossible for me to work with black because I count on being able to open 2 or more midi tracks at once and adjust notes. In white you can see the colour of the notes but in black this is very difficult to see the ghosted colours. So I get stuck with Mercury which sucks for everything else. I don’t mind dark in the track view but please can someone put some red on the track record button! Or at least make PVR lighter in the lighter colour choices.
  6. I took the bait and gave them my credit card numbers. It’s just the way it is I don’t think about it. I’m on a monthly pension so paying monthly works for me. That’s how most of my bills are paid. They are all on automatic payment so when I go crazy my kids won’t inherit a bunch of unpaid bills. They can cancel Sonar then. What I actually hated was all the phoney Bandlab culture of promotion bs that was offered after I joined the club. If you follow the coffee house you would have read more about how people are having their music stolen via some of Bandlabs associated businesses. I think Lander was one of them. I see that’s still imbedded in Sonar. Our developers are awesome people who care but the owners are not on the same page and I hope they don’t screw this up.
  7. I guess the way things happen is they have to decide what they spend time on. So if a lot of users are asking for a feature then they listen. Then it also is depending on how easy/ hard ( how much time) it will be to code in the requested feature. The easier ones are often added quickly. The hard ones take much longer and if there’s only a few people requesting it it will never happen. So my guess that this one is both hard to implement as well as very few people are asking for it. My observation is real studios that use a lot of hardware would probably never use Cakewalk anyhow. Sure the developers could make an attempt to win those people over but software gets a reputation and it never goes away. Those people actually are also a small part of today’s market share. By making Cakewalk free they have created a giant user base of new users of which the majority are not professional audio engineers or even musicians. Don’t give up on your hardware. Personally I would be looking for the DAW that suits your workflow. You can always work with 2 lots of people do. The old studio workflow involved different rooms and equipment.
  8. I noticed in the release notes for Sonar something about fixing Inserts. Have you downloaded it yet?
  9. Please don’t throw rocks at me but my list of “bugs “ were 100% pilots error. Rule #1. Don’t expect things to work the way you THINK they should work! Learn how they are designed to work. But it’s good to know about the built in reporting system. I imagine I’ll never have to use it. One of my “bugs” was the arranger track seemed totally messed up. Good old Ripple Edit was still on. I will go on record as saying the new graphics actually suck. I find myself having trouble locating items that are right were they always were but are unfamiliar now. Like the track record button is indistinguishable from the solo button and so far I’ve made that mistake a dozen time already. Is this all better on a new monitor? Mines a 24”. So nothing to see here folks, keep moving. Thank you.
  10. I installed it on my main DAW a started a new project to run it through some simple tasks using my typical workflow for creating a song. Right away I ran into a few issues. ( Bugs/Pilot error? ) My list gets longer every minute! But I'm not sure where I should post them? The feedback Loop? And boy do they ever need to get our custom themes happening! I'm stuck with Mercury as it's the only one with a white PVR. And now everything is ssssoooo tiny I am defiantly in squint mode! Took me a little while to spot the arranger inspector icon even though I knew it must still me there! What's with this trend in designing icons that are so obscure you need a cheat sheet on your desk to decipher? like someone else said< "you mean we have to pay to be beta testers?? "
  11. I referring to the forum and what happens when we get anything news worthy. Multiple threads discussing the same topic. It all good. It’s either going to be one ten page thread or ten one page threads.
  12. Jeeze we have 6 threads now on this topic! its 2017 all over again !
  13. Just to cap this off I ended up making 2 videos on the topic
  14. It was always a gentleman’s agreement. But don’t forget. Now they will be using a product manager and that might make things different.
  15. I’m not sure we call this a Beta. I think that might be over. I think you call this a trial evaluation. They will probably now want more widespread use to really put it to the test . The more people using it the more issues will be found. 3 days isn’t much unless you do a none stop session. I put it aside for now until later when I can try a project from start to finish. That’s how I do it. I’m not expecting anything exciting to happen. There’s still no Talent button!
  16. I know but it was still showing as the default instrument. InCBB it is now removed and just says Midi only.
  17. You shouldn’t have to select time ranges when you use the arranger. It’s one of the uses of the arranger as it will normally only export that arrangement including start ant stop times. Example I always insert 2 measures before a song starts including the count in. I name that in the arranger. There will also be a Ending section. Then I create a arrangement that doesn’t use the count in and choose export arrangement. This seems fine. But like the OP I have often run into train wreck exporting when I create a second or third arrangement. And even the apply to project seems hit and miss. I sort of gave up trying to use it this way. If you read Sonar release notes you will see they have added start and end markers which has been a request for a long long time. It is yet to be seen if they have de bugged the arranger.
  18. Last time I had a back stage pass I ended up lugging guitars and keyboards and helping the stage crew set up. By the time I got to the green room the food was all gone!! I guess if you purchase this it will get rid of the nag screen which for me after 30 minutes kept returning every 3 minutes.
  19. I installed Next in November. I can’t get much done with it because they still haven’t fixed the few bugs I reported. Auto punch in places the new material in wrong place. PRV is unusable in it current state. Too many issues to list. Most are glitchy GUI. All I can do is compared it to Sonar Home Studio which used to sell for $40. Next needs a lot more happening for it to even come close. It does show you what might be in store for Sonar if there’s a chance of them adding the Sampler and stem separation later. One thing I also noticed is it freezes/ slows down if you open it with any other music related apps running. That’s still broken. They have the exchange format file which I guess I could test now but what I’ve been doing is I start a Next project which is just like Cakewalk with a audio folder in the project folder. I then start a Cakewalk project and save it to the same project folder. They will share the audio folder. Then I can drag and drop tracks created in Next directly into Cakewalk from the Browser. For me right now Next is just a tool to create things I can’t do in Cakewalk. I also just bought Band in a Box and use it the same way. Drag and drop directly from project to project.
  20. Yep seems all very much like a re skin of Sonar / Cakewalk. I like the Cosmic “theme?” Seem to be a different set up there. Overall nothing seems changed in moving around etc. One observation is TTS-1 hasn’t been removed in this version yet. And yes I was disappointed that some of the cool things included with Next were missing. No Stem Separation either. But the release notes I posted above you will observe a huge list of stuff that was mostly requested fixes and features here on the forum so that’s awesome.
  21. The release notes: February 28, 2024 2024.02 What's New UI refresh Sonar has been completely refeshed with a clean new UI. The UI refresh is an ongoing effort and will continue to be updated in future releases. New dark and light color schemes Sonar includes several color themes, including Dark, Dark Gray, Light, Light Gray, Tungsten, Mercury, and Cosmic. Additional color themes will be added in the future. Support for enhanced display scaling Improves rendering and reduces blurriness, particularly for font rendering. Enhanced display scaling may sharpen graphics and make text easier to read. Improvements will be most noticeable when using large, high resolution displays (such as 4K) and with Windows display scaling set higher than 100%. Per plugin enhanced display scaling for VST plugins. New Quick Start screen Open a recent project, open an existing project, create a new project from a template, download and open demo projects, preview projects, update the app. Project preview Preview projects from the Quick Start screen’s Local Projects page if you have exported a designated preview file. Configuration backup/restore Save and load backups of your Sonar configuration settings. Cakewalk Interchange Format (CXF) The Cakewalk Interchange Format (CXF) is a Cakewalk cross platform inter-app project file format, used to exchange projects between Sonar and Next. CXF files exported from either application can be opened or imported in both apps. CXF is a transitory format only used for exchange. It is not intended for archival storage or backing up since the format can change at any time. Cakewalk ZIP Format (CWZ) The new Cakewalk ZIP (.cwz) file format is intended for backing up projects, and is also useful for moving Sonar projects from one computer to another. Cakewalk ZIP is recommended over the older Cakewalk Bundle (CWB/BUN) format, because it does not compact the audio data, and therefore supports AudioSnap clips. Track Manager enhancements The Track Manager lets you configure which tracks are visible in the Track view and Console view, and you can create per-project presets to quickly show specific sets of tracks. Per-track spectrum analyzer display in the Console view and Inspector. ProChannel Concrete Limiter module ProChannel Concrete Limiter is a transparent look-ahead brickwall peak limiter. It is designed to reduce peak levels without coloring the sound. VX-64 Vocal Strip VX-64 Vocal Strip is a multi-functional plugin that combines a series of effects specifically optimized and streamlined for vocal processing. Combining compression, expansion, equalization, de-essing, doubling, delay and tube saturation in one convenient plug-in, VX-64 Vocal Strip is designed to make it fast an easy to enhance any vocal track. Project Start and End markers The Project Start and Project End markers define the playback range and the export range when exporting the entire project, and can also be used as Snap to Grid landmarks. Automation smoothing when recording Automation smoothing now also applies to recording automation in real-time. Specify the default automation curve type for drawing automation envelopes Offset mode enhancements To make it easier to visualize if a track parameter has an offset applied, Sonar shows the parameter value in an amber color when Offset mode is not active, and the parameter tooltip shows the offset value. In-app hang detection Sonar can now detect hangs and save a minidump file, which allows you to easily submit minidump files to Cakewalk support for analysis. Optimization for Intel processors Improvements to reduce CPU load when streaming silence with certain plug-ins that generate denormals. Double-click to expand/collapse docked windows (MultiDock, Inspector, and Browser) Toast notification when a control surface is disabled on launch Sonar now shows a notification if you start the app while a control surface is disconnected. External Insert ports now persist in track templates Audio port assignments for the External Insert plug-in are now persisted in track templates. Assignable key bindings to quickly show/hide tracks in the Track view and Console view Create sends by dragging effects to channel strips (audio track, instrument track, aux track, or bus) Additional snap landmarks New Snap to Grid landmarks include Arranger Section Start Time, Arranger Section End Time, Project Start Marker, and Project End Marker. Create tracks routed to aux tracks or patch points The Add Track menu now allows you to create tracks that are routed to a new aux track or patch point. Deleting a tempo in the Tempo Inspector sets the focus to the next tempo in the list Press F2 to rename markers in the Markers view The meter scale for Instrument tracks changes from a MIDI scale (vertical piano keys) to an audio dB scale when the track is frozen Remove all crossfades in the current selection with the new Track view Clips > Remove Selected Crossfades command Ability to select all tracks/buses in a control group The new Select Tracks/Buses in Group menu command on the control group context menu makes it easy to automatically select all tracks and buses that have controls that are a member of the current control’s group. Once selected, use quick grouping to adjust all tracks simultensously. Clicking Sonar logo in Control Bar opens Quick Start Screen Preview Bus is now a project-wide setting Preview Bus and Synth output assignment is now applied across the entire project rather than per view. Preview bus assignment can now be managed directly from the bus/mains/aux track context menus or directly from the main Project menu. An aux track can now be designated as a preview bus. Report bugs via the in-app Help > Report a Problem menu command Specify default synth for use in Add Track flyout menu Set via synth track context menu or Synth Rack menu. Quicker access to plugin settings The plugin toolbar now has a Settings menu button that provides direct access to Enhanced DPI scaling and plugin upsampling settings. Friendly names for plugins (set in the Browser) are now displayed in FX racks Note: This will apply to new instances of the plugin. Existing ones will still show the actual plugin name. New instances will show the friendly name. Track Scale Zoom is now quick-groupable You can now zoom the waveform or MIDI notes in all selected tracks by holding down the CTRL key and dragging up/down in the track scale. New plugins coming soon - to be announced. Cakewalk Product Center Cakewalk Product Center allows you to download and install Cakewalk products from one central location. Simply sign in with your BandLab ID and password and begin installing your connected products. Stay up to date with the latest features and fixes.
  22. Exactly, as I said, operating systems are boring. So far since XP each new version has involved a learning curve that will annoy most people for a few minutes each day until you get used to it, but it can also annoy others to the point that they refuse to upgrade. So it kinda comes down to being patient as well as a fast learner. Ya, my car doesn't have an ignition key anymore. It has a dongle that the battery can die suddenly. So after being very annoyed at this absolutely absurd change in my life, I took a deep breath and then I made sure there's always spare batteries in the car now. Old people have to be adaptable to change and I don't miss my Atari's TOS operating system. I most certainly don't miss XP. W7 is sort of still usable and W11 only looks different than 10. I wonder if someone gave me a 1924 Ford Sedan If I could get it started? Probably. Ten years from now a teenager would be asking were the dongle was!
  23. There's a real good reason most of us never have any problems. A quick visit to Mr. sjoens profile and you will see pages of posts which most all have the word "Issues" in the title.
