  1. The inplace upgrade doesn't touch any of your files or documents. Unless you do the best move and start fresh with a new OS SSD drive. But all your contacts and stuff like that ar stored in Google if that's what you use. And these days all our documents are on something like one drive. When I built a fresh machine about a year ago this was the case. First thing I did was install Chrome and sign in. Most of my log ins are stored there including Bandlab. Then I had a back up drive from which I transferred all the stuff like the Command Center Download folder. ALl my other music apps are stored here but this is a good time to cruise for any updates. But generally I can install all my software using the external drive. Run Command Center and install everything I need. Then download and install Bandlab / Cakewalk. Install Now activations via XLN , Ilok and e licence. All took a few hours and not really a hassle if you remember how stuff works. Bandlab is optimized for W10, end of story. It will run on W7 but might not be stable and any issue like yours are not supported. I just tried Nectar which I just got free from Plugin Boutique a few weeks ago on some vocal tracks. It didn't seem to do anything worth bothering about. It seems like it's for people who might not know how to use the effects they already have. One most tracks the automatic thing made them sound worse.
  2. All I do is Open the PVR and using the browser on the right open the first track> then while holding Ctrl select the next track. The first track will be overlayed with the new track but will be ghosted. Handy for lining up stuff. You can select as many tracks as you like just keep holding Ctrl. The active tracks are shown as Orange in the browser.
  3. I use the Seinberg folder for all my 3rd party stuff as they seem to want to be there, so why fight it. Like you I only use the Cakewalk VST folder for all the stuff that came with it. I put stuff I don't use anymore in the Steinberg (X86) folder just in case I want to use it again. It's mostly full of old 32 bit stuff. So all my paths are in the Program Files path. There's also a Common files/ VST3 folder and the VST folder which has a few that I guess I could move to the steinberg folder. So I have only 4 paths. Not sure about moving the VST 3 stuff. it's kinda full!
  4. Melodyne 5 has a new feature where you drag and drop Audi to the timeline and it creates a tempo map. Not sure if it works for a whole mix but it works for bass or drum tracks. I’ve used this twice now
  5. The M audio is a midi keyboard, So there's no ASIO driver for it. They don't even supply a proper MIDI driver. I only recommend buying midi devices that come with a proper midi driver. I have a Roland keyboard and a Yamaha drum kit that came with drivers. I can connect and reconnect with Cakewalk running no problem. I also have an Akai keyboard that uses "class compliant midi drivers" and it is alway cutting out and I have to re start Cakewalk. These companies that use "class compliant drivers" are lazy and assume your using a Mac.
  6. This sounds like a simple matter of not exploring the workspace. In this video at 2:04 I demonstrate re-sizing a track.
  7. I was going to get the 4i4 as it seems the replacement for the 6i6 which they no longer make. But the Motu was $30 Can. less and had some better features. Like the meters on the front and the RCA extra outs. And! possibly better drivers. I know @Jim Roseberry speaks highly of Motu drivers. Down side from my 6i6 is no SPDIF and it is only bus powered. No optional power supply jack.
  8. Well I hate to tell you this , but ASIO is an audio driver and doesn't really have anything much to do with a midi device other than playing back the sounds generated by the VST instruments. If your using your on board sound card then you could have used WASPI shared or exclusive driver mode. All you have done now is installed two generic ( which are not real ASIO ) drivers that you actually didn't need. But no harm done. As far as Cakewalk goes it is highly recommended that you use a proper ASIO audio interface for recording audio. Midi is not as critical but you might get better performance.
  9. The 4.65.5 is the one I have. In Mix Control / help/about it says 2010-2019. I couldn't find a date anywhere so I assumed this was it. I see I downloaded on Nov 30. I'm still glad I got the Motu. So far it's sounding a bit better too. Tonight I will do my first vocal session with it. I'll still keep the 6i6 because the Motu does not have SPDIF. One thing that's cool is I can simply turn one off and the other one on with Cakewalk running. It just tells me what's going on and it automatically resets to the correct driver .
  10. You are a bit messed up there. First. Midi cables only carry data. No audio. So you use that to record a midi track. The midi track can then be output to a VST instrument or sent back out to your hardware synth. but to now record the sound from you hardware synth you need audio cables from it to your 4i4. You might be able to use the rear 3/4 inputs. You now insert a Audi track and record the sound from the synth. It’s a lot easier to just use VST instruments.
  11. What app are you using to play some will have sound enhancements on. Use a wave editor for proofing. I also see you are using the 48/ 32 Try changing to standard 44.1/16
  12. Out of curiosity I turned off the Motu, and turned on the 6i6. The list changed to this. I opened Cakewalk to double check ASIO and all 6 ins and outs where showing. So odd that the driver doesn't report and all you see is the 1/2 input. I think I was right about getting the Motu just to get proper ASIO drivers. The 6i6 is up to date with a driver issued in 2019?
  13. When you took your screen shot was the Quad Capture hooked up and running? It should show like this. If not then the drivers are not working I guess.
  14. Time for a new Interface? I gave up on my 1st gen 6i6 and bought a Motu M4 . Nice to have everything up to date and working smoothly again. The 6i6 and my Tascam us1641 are getting outdated and driver support is fading away. Never did like the pre amps.
  15. Agreed, the Air installation is probably the worst of anything I have ever used. First you need to open a iLock account and download the app. open, log on and activate your computer. When you install the plug in you have to pay supper close attention to where stuff is going. And even that didn't work for me. I just checked and my Air stuff is in its own folder. LocalC/Program files(x86) Air Music Technology. But that is just the content, the patches and samples. I could not get it to work when I directed the instal pth to my E drive. The dll files are in MY Steinberg Program File (x86) folder.
  16. That typical. It's nice to actually find hardware that supports Cakewalk directly. We are often the DAW not on the list. I just bought a Motu audio interface and was disappointed that they included a long list of supported DAW's and Cakewalk was not included. Most were Mac DAW's. So one choice is to try and buy from vendors who offer support for your DAW. A visit to the manufactures web site will soon reveal where their loyalties are.
  17. I think you guys probably just scared the $__t out of the OP. They were probably just looking for a preset on Prochannel
  18. I posted that thread thinking there might be someone in there who owns one you can PM directly. Might take a while to get an answer if they are not a regular.
  19. Not mentioned here is to open the "Track Manager" and look for hidden tracks. But that said it is a bone of contention because it would seem a simple feature that has been requested forever on the forum. I always top and tail my songs in Wave Lab for this reason. There's always a space at the start and lots at the end. The other day I thought I'd try something I've seen mentioned here a few times where you load a whole album of your songs into a project to master. The mastering part was fine, and toping the start is easy, but the tails were all to long, even though the other songs were muted the tail was as long as the longest song. for all sonGS. So had to clean up in Wave Lab anyhow.
  20. It was advice given to me on the old forum a long way back. I guess when I started using the LP MUlti band I really noticed a midi delay. The global works great because it is very visible and by shutting everything off, you won't forget to turn it back on when finished recording. Funny thing is you shut it off and sometimes your song sounds better!
  21. Being cheap, I have the free upgraded versions on 3 of my machines which of course is the basic version. I still can't see anything about pro that matters to music. Might matter for other uses like a professional setting in a office. But I'm at Home with Home!
  22. I have been following Secret Sauce on YouTube, Thanks, Hank That's the way to do it. His videos are fun to watch. The stock Cakewalk ones are informative but dry. But it took me 15 years to figure things out and I'm still learning! Just one task at a time. If you have a question just use Google and 99% of the time the answer is there. A very handy tool while learning is the HELP module found in the Browser on the right. If it's not there go to Views.
