  1. Lasso the notes. possition the cursor at the top of the note in the middle until the pointer changes to the the velocity tool drag the notes the above info is outdated only some of it is correct
  2. Why are you using Sonar? Cakewalks is free and vastly improved and there is no support for Sonar if you’re having trouble
  3. Just choose EDIT and re type the title
  4. I’m not near my daw. But you can lasso as many notes as possible by just holding down the Right? left? Mouse button you don’t need ctrl
  5. He is saying you are probably hitting the x key by accident
  6. Probably what you are looking for is not a traditional bass sample but a synth bass sample. I must have 1,000 synth bass sounds in my collection. Lots of freebies include analog synths I collect them. My latest is called the Fury 800 which is very cool emulation of my long lost Korg Poly 800. Definitely synth bass in there
  7. I totally forgot about that and what happened to you was exactly what I did after watching that video. I forgot that important step. But the drag drop was still a bit iffy. An example was I dragged the Audio Kick track to midi hoping I could use it and quantize but it was way out to the grid still. I don't think the drummer was THAT bad. That Musical time trick did solve some other issue> Man I do this stuff figure it all out and then forget! Glad that worked for you I will certainly follow that video closely next time I need the tempo map.
  8. Of all the VST drums SI is not a good choice to do this. Most good VST drums can have multi channels output to audio. When you insert the synth you choose the multiple outs which gives you as many audio tracks as there are kit pieces. Addictive Drums has a free demo you should try. Just go to the XLN website https://www.xlnaudio.com/products/addictive_drums_2 create an account and follow the instructions. It involves installing the XLN online installer. You can also grab the demo of Addictive Keys too. Win Win. There are only a few limitations with the demos but there is a good drum kit minus the toms. No problem, use SI drums for the toms. I had that Steven Slate drums demo and got rid of it. I didn't like it. Mabey the full version is better but I have no time for half baked demos. As far as VST drums go there are some good choices and most have demos. Air Strike 2 its complicated to use but great sounds if you get the hang of it. It's always on sale but I think all the sales are over now. I paid $10 for it a few years back. I don't use it because I like AD2 overall. I also have Session Drums which came with Sonar and it's my 2nd choice.
  9. There isn't much information about this feature yet. My guess is 99% of the material created in Cakewalk is done to the clock. All the videos I watched used the old audio snap pallet and moving markers method. As I said. It was hit or miss for me. Sometimes it works other times it's a big mess. I have a lot of old recordings that are multi track live band and it's nice to get some sort of tempo map so I can add keyboard parts and quantize. But so far no luck with that. I do beleieve if I had to get it right I'd be using the Audio Snap Pallet.
  10. @scook CbB supports ARA2 (not Aria). This is the technology behind Region FXs. -- Sorry stupid auto correct on phone keeps doing that. Thanks Steve that clears that up. I was wondering what was included with CbB that makes perfect sense to just get the demo. And that explains @User 905133 issue. Seems they need to fork over some cash to continue. Yes I remember at one point being offered the upgrade and paying $99 a long time ago so must have been when I went from X3 studio to SPlat . I also seem to remember the free upgrade to 4. This is the first time I've had to pay them any money for a long time so it's been a pretty good deal.
  11. I should rename this thread the melodyne page. To recap what I think I understand is CbB comes with Aria and the ability to convert Audio to midi using some basic version of Melodyne. Those who never had a Sonar account won’t have Melodyne. No regional effect option. No Celemony account. Those who had Sonar had a free copy of Melodyne that was not even Essentials. Some people over time have upgraded to higher versions and this is between you and Celemony.
  12. So you are saying yours Is on your iLok. Is that a dongle or the software iLok. I have the software version and find it odd that Melodyne is not listed there. It always works. I will probably spring for Editor someday too as my guitar playing is getting worse as I age. I have pain in my right thumb so it's hard to manage a pick. I am using this for the first time and might be getting carried away!! I realized my pitch was so bloody off until I started looking at it this way. You have to be careful as it can get a bit crunchy in there. But so far I have heard nothing but an improvement to vocal tracks. Especially falsetto harmonies. That's another reason chords would be nice as you could correlate the harmonies just like messing with a piano chord in PVR. In the past if there was a guitar boner in a solo I was forced to redo that part or get lucky and copy and paste. Now its- split it out- and put it right, takes less than a minute.
  13. Someone else had same issue a few weeks ago and I made them a video to save having to type this same thing over and over. As it was ,they had Digital audio as the output of the master bus instead of speakers. Cakewalk chooses the output at the top of the list in preferences. audio outputs. I have other videos you can get tyo from my signature that help you get started with midi tracks.
  14. @abacab @msmcleod So here's a question: Did people have to go through the steps to upgrade to Melodyne Essentials 5 or did the last update of CbB take care of that? One thing I found interesting is that while you are installing the upgrade/Update, it mentions iLok account. I have iLok which Izotope and Air products are handled with, but I don't see Melodyne. And it never asked for any serial number even though the upgrade uses a new number. I was expecting to enter it on first run, but nope. Seems to know who I am on both computers.
  15. https://www.celemony.com/en/melodyne/what-can-melodyne-do Scroll down the page and there is the comparison chart. You are correct according to that list- The list just say's Export audio to midi. Possibly the feature in Cakewalk still works as Mark said. I can't test it because I have Assistant and it works for me. I used it 2 days ago. Now a dialog pops up asking you which algorithm you want to use- there are now 6 choices. I remember using the last version of Home Studio and was surprised that this features worked because Melodyne was not included as a regional effect. I think the conversion is a feature built into Aria- Cakewalk via special licensing. On Black Friday week I upgrade from Essentials to Assistant for $99. This is regularly $299 so heck of a deal. I guess I was wrong about the $99 that's the regular price. Anyways, everybody should have got that same email from them so you snooze you loose. Even though they are bit annoying I keep my email options ticked on a few plug in vendor sites. I have netted a lot of very cheap and free stuff this way. FYI I found as Mark said my copy of X1 on the My Products page of the old site. I hadn't bothered to download it as back then my internet was limited. I now have a copy stored locally. I'll use that instead of 8.5. Interestingly that disk came with a Roland product shows I bought in 2015 by then probably x3 was out.

    Console view

I’ve never managed to move them but it not hard to do in track view. There is probably a toggle that syncs the track and console views but myself I like them synced
  17. Run latency monitor try it on both machines ohttps://www.resplendence.com/latencymon Try a USB 2 port as some older interfaces were reported to act up on USB 3 There’s a thread in the main forum about optimization also Focusrite new drivers use normal settings now like 128/ 256 and not ms like 9 So check the web site for a driver update
  18. ASIO drivers need to be installed. You get them from the manufacturer of your audio interface. ASIO is by far the best driver to use so this is why it is highly recommended to purchase a proper audio interface for recording audio with a DAW. You can playback and work with midi using WASAPI but recording audio you will need an interface. They start at only $ 50 and go up. It all depends on how many ins and out you need if the Blue Mike is USB it is probably using a class compliant audio driver. Those types of mikes are for podcasts not professional recording
  19. I’ll add to this that while it’s best practices to install in order of release version I just went through a process of digging up missing components for my second computer I hadn’t been using much. A year ago I rebuilt my office machine and only installed CbB and the basics that came with it. A bit later I had to run CCC and installed everything from Splat. I found myself wanting to some editing on this machine and as the weeks went by I kept finding missing plug ins. Most are simply a matter of grabbing the installers but some were tied to old versions. i had no problem installing as far back as 8.5 and getting stuff like v vocal. So bottom line is I don’t think it is the end of the world if you don’t go in sequence and find later on needing something else. Just pay real close attention to the dialogue as you install the old version.
  20. If your keyboard came with a USB midi driver best to install it otherwise W10 will use an inferior generic driver. Then plug the keyboard in and open preference/ Midi/ Devices and check the box for your keyboard. If your using an audio interface and standard 5 pin midi ports then the box you check will be for your interface Theres a few way to do the next step. Here’s how I do it insert a midi track and select the correct input you keyboard is using. I use Omni arm the track for record and play a few notes to confirm you have a connection the meters will move Now insert a soft synth instrument like SI bass or drums and set the output of the midi track to that instrument now you can record you midi performance along with analog tracks or the metronome
  21. W10 updates have a habit of re installing drivers you disable. That message shows every once in a while and I just go back to device manager and disable it. I find if you don’t use a HDMI cable you won’t get it. But if you use 2 monitors you sort of have to
  22. Ha ha. That’s right. Musicians don’t make money so why should anyone else
  23. https://shop.celemony.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/CelemonyShop.woa looks like it’s still $99 on the Celemony site. They made a bunch of improvements with this release. You can use the license on 2 machines too. It’s not exactly intuitive to use. Tools icons are weird and really small. But once I learned the navigation and how to access the different tools it became easier. Thats. Why I stayed with v vocal as I found it very intuitive to use. I won’t be using it again but I realize I never rendered the tracks I used it on. So I need it just to perform the rendering
  24. @msmcleod thanks I didn’t know there was a download for x1. I think I made an ISO copy and it’s ferreted away on a forgotten backup drive somewhere. But I guess I better sort that out. I got X1LE free with My Roland keyboard. It was so different and sort of a step down from 8.5 producer version I use right up until X3e came out . So I never used it. Back then during the X1, X2 era the old form was so many people struggling so I just waited it out. People seemed happy with X3 so I climbed back on board and soon was flying hi with Splat. Just like a few posters here I tried Melodyne and would return to using V Vocal. But just last month when they offered the upgrade to version 5 for $99. Before I committed I watched the videos and quickly saw how I was not doing this right. Within a few days I feel like I’ve got a very good grasp on it and have spent a lot of time editing boners and even whole vocal tracks. I m a believer now it’s now part of my workflow
  25. Yes that’s why the mixer used a Steinberg driver. Well that is good news the Yamaha is using the Steinberg driver. Sounds like you have it sorted out.
