  1. First there was no point in opening a blank project. All you need to do is Open a midi file and it creates a project. You will have to populate the project with things like a master buss. Second I don’t understand why you need to create a click track? Why don’t you just use the metronome? It will follow the tempo. mid for some reason you don’t like the metronome use a midi drum track. once you start using audio it is not easy to change the tempo
  2. Sorry if I came across wrong I am100% on your side and I do believe we are both on the same level of experience with this crazy stuff. this just might be one of those oddball situations where 2 pieces of gear just don’t play together. A long shot thought. Wonder what happens if you use a USB 2 hub? it would seem at this point using trouble shooting 101 process of eliminations that testing different ports and cable is in order. Sorry if you already tried this

    Merge project

Totally lost me on that one. “ How do I apply the same mix to the same song?” ?! ?
  4. Looks like the op either resolved their issues or lost interest in recording ? @winkpain fair enough. But I would say the issue would be the laptops system doesn’t like ASIO. Tascam for sure is highly regarded for quality of build and drivers. I own a Tascam interface and will probably buy another someday. You say you use ASIO4ALL Without issues but you probably missed my thread in Tutorials where I test driver modes with 4 different interfaces and 4 computers. Glenn also contributed by testing asio4all because I could not get it to work on my computers. Glenns test shows asio4all behaves just like all other non ASIO modes and loop back test come back late. Therefore there is no advantage to asio4all over WASAPI modes. Or even WDM for that matter. It is A wrapped WDM driver. But generally we are talking about on board audio when we talk about non ASIO drivers. It must be one in a million people that cannot use ASIO with a proper name brand interface There are certainly people on this forum using Tascam interfaces with the ASIO drivers I’m one of them. I’ve use mine since Windows xp and on dozens of systems
  5. For years I've recorded 16 tracks of audio as live band performances into Cakewalk. These were full 45 to 70 minute sets none stop. This was on a 2008 Sony Laptop. It's only attribute being it was more or less optimized and it has a SSD drive. Otherwise only 4 GB RAM etc. Last time I did this was last Summer. After I hit stop it takes a good couple of minutes too draw the waveforms but otherwise I've never experienced missing data. Are you using an audio interface with ASIO drivers or on board audio?
  6. I don't think Cakewalk has ever used that logo. So I would have not proceeded further. Just see what the actual URL is first, I would imagine it's not a .com
  7. I use DIm pro and TTS-1. I have a few bits I bought for Addictive drums. It's actually a hard one to solve as I have yet found one VST that does everything well. I gave up on looking for the perfect Tambourines and sampled my own and use Session Drummer to play it.
  8. What are your speakers? Studio monitors or Gaming? If your speakers do not have any analog inputs then You should have bought an interface with SPDIF outputs. And this depends on the connectors. Pro gear uses RCA jacks that are Yellow. Computers only have a cheapo 1/8" jack. If your speakers ONLY have the yellow RCA jacks You would need the Focusrite 8i6. Interfaces with SPDIF are not very common anymore. Otherwise under ASIO you can only use one device. Avoid using none ASIO drivers. If your speakers are only for computer use with 1/8" mini jacks then they are not compatible with studio gear and you'll need to purchase some proper monitors.
  9. I hate to say this but what you are doing is not really a good idea. You want total control of your mix. Bouncing tracks to sub mixes we left behind 20 years ago when we moved on from 4 and 8 track recording With the unlimited tracks and busses of a DAW we now use busses for sub mixing. Insert a new stereo bus and send the tracks there. This is what busses are for, You make sub mixed tracks and then on mix down you can make overall adjustments at the buss level.
  10. I have the Roland A49 controller and a while ago it started misbehaving and what had happened was W10 update had overwritten the Roland Midi driver. I re installed the Roland driver and it has worked perfectly since.
  11. @Glenn StantonYa I did that , This is what is weird. Everything showed as active and OK, The mike was active in Windows sound settings etc. But the input just wouldn't be available in the Cakewalk audio tracks. It just said "none" I've never seen a case where an input is checked in preferences that was not available so I just wrote it off as bad driver. Anyhow I'm permanently done with this and have happily returned to my Interfaces with ASIO drivers. I will still use on board on my office computer which seems real happy with WASAPI exclusive or Shared.
  12. No this is a good place to ask. The more tutorials the better. I use OBS studio which is free and Magix Movie Studio platinum which was $60 There’s 2 ways I can get Cakewalk audio captured along with the narrative. First is to use WASAPI shared. Second is I will use a small mixer that has the 3/4 output of my interfaces ( DAW playback) and the mike plugged in. This returns to my interface and is recorded by the screen capture. This way I can control the balance between the narration and the DAW with hardware. I’m real scattered if I try and narrate in real time. I mumble and I can also make mistakes and leave out important stuff. so my solution to this is for The last two I made I cheated and wrote a script. I recorded the audio with Cakewalk and edited out bloopers as I progressed. I mastered the audio and then I played it back as I ran the screen capture trying to follow my own instructions. The screen capture records the audio but i use the original by adding it in the editing software and sync it up. I then add some background music and add text and pictures where needed. It’s a Lot of work! But it’s a great hobby as I find learning more about the movie software interesting. I guess we need tutorials on making tutorials
  13. Did you load a basic template? I have used Cakewalk for 20 years and never seen that view. please take the time to watch the tutorials. I have some ( see my signature) and the ones by Creative Sauce are excellent too
  14. To answer your question about songs within the album folder. I only will ever have one version of each song In that folder. In the beginning there might have been more but I quickly delete them as I carry on. On the rare chance I would need that version it will be found easily on the dated backup files. it’s way to easy to take a month off from recording and return and start working on a song only to realize it’s the wrong version. So only the very latest versions are in that album folder on my working drive. When in doubt I look at the date stamp.
  15. Glad you got it working and that out of the multitude of suggestions one of them worked. So it was very similar to my issue. I would have never guessed USB 3 would not work with a new interface. And thanks for the update it is very useful to all to know what the solution was
  16. I think what’s happening is you have input echo on tracks that you don’t need it to be set for. Shut off input echo for all tracks except for the one that you are wanting
  17. That's the easy way. And yes by containment folder that can be either the Project folder or in my case I use Album folders. But once I copy them to a back up location I always date them. Save as with copy all audio checked as Scook is recommending is how I make back ups as I work. Like Steve I have a folder I call " Album name back up" This is on my quick links. It's on a SSD drive in a portable enclosure that's always plugged in. At any given time I might have 20 back ups of my original material kicking around. Some songs are from 1990's originating from an Atari. My backing tracks also progress over time and I have dozens of back ups of those ( 300 songs) I also have a lot of back ups of client projects ( albums) but once finished there out of my main machine and sitting on a shelf. I only keep the 2 track masters on my local hard drives. I have a shoebox full of hard drives and right now I think I have 7 external drives. In my 4 computers there's another 10. Storage is cheap.
  18. Storage is cheap. My work isn’t. I never delete anything period. I just make back ups and put a new date on the container folder. I have files that go way back. And guess what. Every once in a while I find what I need in those old files.
  19. I totally agree with @Hatstand It won’t be a setting or tweak at this point. Tascam drivers are top notch but you do need to closely follow instructions as you install. If it’s like mine you need to turn on the interface when asked. And there is the possibility that the unit is defective that happens. It could even be the cable I just bought a Motu M4 and had same issues as you and it was because it is only buss powered and needs a USB 3 port with lots of juice. Stupid design. If I’d known this I would have bought the Tascam 4x4 Right away I thought this might be your issue but I see you are smart enough to use the power supply You could try another USB port and cable but try installing the ASIO driver first
  20. Did it not occur to you that those boxes need to be checked ? you don’t need to check the ones you’re not using but I see a lot that should be checked. And ASIO always only shows odd numbers 1- 3-5 etc.for input #2 you choose 1-right
  21. The thing is because it’s free if you loose your login info you just start a new account. My self I have no clue what my log on info is I let my computer do that for me.
  22. The op will not return and no loss. Is it just me or are people getting stupider every year? Even us old farts know that there’s a YouTube for leaning about just about everything from How to kill a Chicken ? to fixing your toilet seat.
  23. Ya that’s not what I look at. It says arranger track? You should be seeing the track inspector and make sure ALL is selected. That view tells me nothing.
  24. This is why my habit is to delete as I work. I found that if all I did was overwrite a bad take, the bad take was saved anyway. It's not clear to me if these get delete when you close so I just delete as I go. I always use overwrite option for recording for this reason too. It's a habit from the days of tape where you had no other choice and it suits me fine.
  25. Actually I had a few records back in the early 60's that were put out that were isolated parts of hit songs from the Ventures they also made these for each part of the band too. Not exactly the drum sound I'd be looking for but you might find that other bands did the same.
