  1. Ya I got it for $30. Version 14. I just upgraded to 17 for another $35 The cool thing about that is I can install on 4 machines now. Nothing wrong with 14. I barely noticed the difference
  2. Did you try a search of your hard drive? Type the missing file name into search. A save as should stop Cakewalk from looking for those files as it will create a new project and audio folder if you "save as" outside the old project folder. Make sure to check "copy audio" option first.
  3. Did you delete the tracks in Cakewalk? If you deleted them in the audio folder in Windows explorer then you've made a mess of it. If they are still in the recycle bin restore them and then delete them from within Cakewalk. Otherwise you can try doing a "save as" of the project.
  4. First thing obviously is to look at the instruments track strip meter. Is it red lining? Open the event list and see if there are any CC 7 or CC11 events. You can also look in PVR in the controller pane.
  5. I myself don't understand why you would need such an item? I've been using Midi for a million years and it has never changed much since day one in the 80's. It's data. That data flows to an instrument where it becomes audio and from there on is treated like any audio. This could be a VST instrument or a Hardware instrument (or a Lighting rig or a smoke pot. ) You can manipulate that data on it's way to the instrument in a zillion weird ways with controllers and other data that is added to the data stream. The common ways are CC events ( CC7 ) and system exclusive data packages. A midi signal flow chart will be a straight line with little boxes added in the path where you alter the original data.
  6. Not sure I understand your question? Yes the course in the OP is one you purchase. It's only $15.

    Asio

And just so you know, The common way to use Band in a Box is create the song in the stand alone app and then export the midi file. Open that in Cakewalk and take advantage of the much better sounding instruments. Also much more powerful effects and editing. If you leave all the midi outputs unchecked in Preferences/Midi/ Devices Cakewalk will OPEN the midi file with TTS-1. You can then replace with better quality like the SI instruments and 100's of free VST plug in available.

    Asio

Did you check your master bus output? This video walks you through basic set up for using an audio interface. The master buss is explained at around 9 min.

    Asio

If your using on board audio you have to use WASAPI. To use ASIO you need an audio interface. You will hear latency until then. On board audio is limited in use for daws in-my signature is links to my tutorials watch the videos on onboard audio and ASIO
  10. Best practices from the day Gibson dropped the bomb was to run Update everything in CCC and copy the download folder mentioned by Steve to a dozen back up drives. There’s possibly $1,000 + worth of stuff in there. Also we made a document with all the serials and activation codes. Including your Single Sign on information. Now when I rebuild I install CCC and copy the download folder back up into the new folder. When I run the installers it doesn’t need to download the files.
  11. When using the Arranger you would simply mark that as unwanted and don’t put it on the list. But using Ripple Edit is pretty easy way too get rid of unwanted measures
  12. I would not have reverb in a vocal track bin. It is always a effect send to a reverb buss. The other 2 processors would be EQ and a compressor in the Pro Channel. So this leaves my Effects bin Empty. This is where I put it the few times I tried it. It’s a heavy CPU load for my system and causes dropouts so I'm not really using it.
  13. If you press the Windows key and PRTSCN Key it will take a screenshot of your computer screen. it saves this to a folder in your pictures folder. Of concern in what you are saying is that 2 of the notes are louder/ different than the rest. This happens when the keyboard is broken. It’s the sensor switches fail over time. I had this happen to my old Roland p200. The C and D keys were stuck at full velocity. I had to buy a new controller.
  14. Number one cause of bad audio is the Realtek ASIO driver. I have a video about using on board audio that will help you get things working.
  15. I don't think anyone has made a full course for Cakewalk. Sonar yes, but those are sort of mostly outdated. The reason so many people now produce for you tube is those very same adds you don't like can actually net a small income for the creator. You need something like 1,000 subscribers before the ad people will show interest in you. And there's a good question, Because I pay an annual fee for You Tube I haven't seen an add in years. But do people watching my videos see adds? I only have 64 subscribers at this point but it's been growing all of a sudden. I'm probably never gong to see any cash from this but it was never my intent. But this guy is probably smart and only asking a small fee for his videos might pay off better than if he had gone the You tube route. Cakewalk is pretty small user base but You tube is defiantly where people will search for any help. I get all sorts of questions in the you tube comments section and via PM's on Facebook and those people obviously have never found this forum. I thought about creating a course but that would take months so I'd have to charge something. That's too much of a hassle. I'm happy with doing the task specific videos. This new series I'm working, Recording a Song https://youtu.be/VaiBAmap0a8 is as close as I will get to a all inclusive course. I start with basic set up and will end with a finished mastered wave/ mp3 file. It all takes time. I often spend a few days just preparing and running test sessions. What is supper beneficial to me is while doing this I learn a lot more than I would have thought possible about Cakewalk. I also figure out things I hadn't bothered with before. Like I will need to figure out Ripple editing and the arranger track now.
  16. Certainly very reasonable price but possibly about what the value might be. I watched the 2 videos they offer as demo's the introduction and the how to install portion. Not a lot to go on but you can get an idea of the pace, the narrators voice as well as production quality. Which is basic and homemade ( just like mine ) but seem they will be at a nice slower pace and easy to follow. My favorite is check out the dudes desktop icons, it's sort of a bit of an "whoops I shouldn't post that in a instructional video" thing.
  17. At this point I’m not sure what to op wants, might be a language issue. First it sounded like wanting recording notes to be all same velocity which is a function built in to most controllers as I mentioned Then it would seem they are wanting to change the velocity of the all ready recorded notes. That can be done with either a CAL script or by this. in PVR: Select all. CNTL A Pick a note with the lowest velocity drag the velocity to the max. let go now drag them down to the desired level
  18. It's in the bottom of the export dialog if you choose a preset. You can make your own presets in the other dialog box that opens when you select advanced, or use file / export/audio
  19. VLC will play any resolution but Windows Media player requires you to set your audio driver first. I just stick with 44.1/16 for export because it works for everything including CD. You need to change your settings
  20. Trust me. I did that back then. Then I figured out I could charge the same fee by just renting the equipment to them They loved this because every family has someone who is a wannabe DJ. I loved it because I didn’t have to be at yet another lame party.
  21. There are Musicians and there are DJ's. It's always been that way. In the 80\s- 90's those bastards stole all our gigs.... now they are taking control of our recording software...grump ,,, grump...
  22. Interesting idea but alas there would be a tinny pause between each clip.
  23. It’s one of the quirky things about Cakewalk. They make new dialogue boxes and leave the old ones active. There are now 2 dialogue boxes for inserting instruments. They both do more or less the same thing. Not only that each has more than one way to open it. Things like that have got to cause issues down the line.
  24. Nothing has changed since the days of analog mixers. You had to figure these things out and it wasn’t a big deal to press more than one solo button. That’s why you were called an engineer. It sort of implied that you were educated and new your way around the millions of controls and cables. So that said there’s always a bad idea workaround. create a new buss and send the reverb and the other buss there. There’s probably a dozen other ways using aux busses and what not
  25. What is important to understand is volume is a different aspect than velocity. Velocity on a lot of instruments changes the timber. It is the midi way of trying to emulate how hard you hit, pluck or blow an instrument. So for most instruments this is important and depending on how elaborate the samples are will be a part of the performance. The piano is the best example. But an Organ doesn’t have velocity. It’s keys are just on off switches. So it is about the only instrument I would need to eliminate velocity for. But that said you could include velocity in this case to control volume. Velocity is important and it’s good to purchase a keyboard that feels and responds to your playing so you can maintain more control of the quality of your performance if the music you make is traditional.
