  1. I have never used Screensets or what was once called Lenses. But a few years ago when Cakewalk introduced the "Basic" workspace where half the important functions are hidden I quickly dove in and started using Workspaces. I find them super handy for setting up for different scenarios where I want my screens just so. Example the one I use the most is called Johns which is optimized for recording in track view and has the multidock on my second monitor. It has the Inspector and Browser open as well with things like the Synth rack. Then I have one called "One Screen" where the multidock is at the bottom of the main screen when I need my second monitor for opening none Cakewalk folders and stuff like lyrics. Then I have one for recording Narration etc. But the thing to understand is that Workspaces are global to all projects. They do not save anything that is Project related like a GUI for a plug in. This is because every project is different in that way. But then Screensets are per project. The default is when you save the project that will be called screenset 1. I fail to even see there use anymore other than possibly setting up different track views on large projects.
  2. Interesting as that's something I just started doing to actually re do my own old songs that I don't have Cakewalk or midi files for. Drag the wave file to the time line and then play along with the original adding each instrument. I made a how to video about this technique- 23- Re making a song from the original- https://youtu.be/HuPc1RjBRbc Got a lot of flack from people who were not happy because they thought I was going to show them how you extract the parts and turn it into midi. What! I have to play the instruments? I just found this midi file for the song but its kind of wet noodle version. One could use it as a starting point which is what I've done a lot of in the past. As long as they get the arrangement right everything else can be re-done. https://freemidi.org/download3-25083-summer-in-the-city-lovin-spoonful#google_vignette
  3. Input can be selected when you insert the instrument track. The default is usually global which is not a great idea most times. Possibly all your answers are in the first videos in my series where all proper settings are covered
  4. Where's that Autoharp? I thought that was what made this song unique was the use of an Autoharp on a rock song. Anyhow great job on all those details. That's a complicated song. I was 13 and it was a Hot Summer as I remember picking raspberry's all day on a farm you rode on a school but to. Probably to pay for a guitar or amp I was lusting after. That song would come on the Bus radio every day heading home at days end.
  5. Defiantly a weird one. And this is every project I assume as you said in the OP. The reason I asked was you said This is what I'm trying to grasp as this implies it is the last GUI you had open and then you closed it. Correct?
  6. You might have used up your allotted space so go to your user profile settings “My Attachments” and delete some files to free up space. It will show you your total use at the top
  7. Use save as and choose a location. Make sure and check the copy all audio box.
  8. The first video on the list here will hopefully solve your issues.
  9. Question? Was that instrument GUI open when you Saved and Closed Cakewalk? Or was it closed? Things like Plug in GUI’s are per project and not part of Workspaces. So for me if I leave a GUI open then save and close it most certainly will be there when I reopen the project again. In my case I never leave them open before closing. That’s why I find it weird that they all flash on and off quickly while the project loads. They seem to retain their placement on the 2 screens as well.
  10. I’ve noticed something similar lately. As the project loads all the GUI’s for all the plug ins open but then the quickly close. They sort of flash on and off in the last locations I used them. I write it of as a screen refresh. Possibly your’s is sticking? .
  11. good job on a Country swing song. It's super quiet though. You want to be more around 14 LUFS and a peak level of around -1.0. If your not sure on how to do that I cover it in a few of my tutorials.

Great song well done over all, but there's a clicking sound that's distracting that I think is the acoustic guitar? Mostly in my right speaker. listen around 1:15
  13. Great song once again love it all. But on my Yamaha NMS10's the bass is to low. Might be what Ed was getting at. It's very close, but just a nudge of the low end around 100hz? lower?
  14. Melodyne seems to work with Bass and guitar and even a Dobro. Tracking is very close with just random octave jumps. I've never tried my voice, I guess because for me it's easier to play a melody on the piano or guitar. I am going to try the M tuner when I have a chance because I'm always game for cool & free ways to do things.
  15. The trouble I found with applying a effect with process is a mono clip becomes stereo even if the effect has a mono setting. It will still sound the same but it annoying
  16. I have a few options for audio to midi. I own a Godin guitar with midi built in via my Roland GR50. The latency is zero if you play the sounds of the GR50 but substantial if you trigger a soft synth. I haven’t used it in years. I also played with Midiguitar app but it’s tracking was no match for the GR50 rig. And it’s not free. it can be made to work better with some fuss. I haven’t used it in years. What works flawlessly is Melodyne 5. I use it a lot. I only have single track version but plan on upgrading next sale in the fall. The MTuner will have the single track limitation and be fussy to set up but I guess an free option for people who don’t own Melodyne 5. Melodyne is quickly becoming my main tool for audio editing. I have recently discovered the other tools beyond just pitch correction. Those are the timing and the amplitude tools. You basically can work with audio just like you work with Midi. Cakewalk is free and very powerful Cakewalk with a full version of Melodyne built in is not free, but still about what most DAWS will cost without Melodyne.
  17. What’s not absolutely clear to me and why I use 32 undithered is the even if that audio was 24 bit it comes out of the project at 32 ( or64) bit. A project can have audio files( tracks) that are all different bit depths. This is especially true of audio dragged from the browser. But the audio engine is running at 32 (64)bit as well as all your processing so all audio exports start out being 32 (64) bit. So any export below 32(64) bit is being technically truncated so dithering should be used. That said there’s probably.006% quality loss if you don’t.
  18. Are there different Versions? Like mine say's 1.5 The installer says D-Proinstall_1.5.5.16 8/4/2015
  19. Or if you want lots of confusing advice post on https://gearspace.com/ probably over 3 million posts on your topic. Problem with mikes is the results can be very personal. Everyone will need a different mike. If your voice sounds pretty close to the way you like using the Beta 58 then that’s a good starting point in looking at specs. That’s been my mike for over 12 years after trying dozens of different mikes. So I’m looking at the Shure SM7b based on specs and my good luck with their products. It looks cooler than the Beta.
  20. @msmcleod I think you missed the OP’s question which was regarding export of stems, not finished mixes.
  21. The pro channel EQ is amazing and built in to every track strip. There’s dozens of very good EQ’s for free. Cakewalk requires a bit of learning . Watch these for start. There’s lots of information to absorb and once you get the basic stuff down questions like this will not be at all needed or asked
  22. Odd. I have Dim Pro installed on 3 computers 2 of them which I totally redid about 2 years ago. And I clearly remember having to run as administrator, insert Dim pro and it would take the authorization number. It goes with out saying you have to be on line.
  23. Funny how everyone is different. I always leave all my faders at unity. Old habit from live sound mixing. I use the gain control for overall static levels for mixing. I also use those readings to make adjustments. Like if a track is 2db too loud, I turn down the gain 2db. Then I might automate a fader which then gives me very precise control over that Tracks level. For that I like to use the inspector. So there’s a good option. Have the track inspector fully customized and then any track in focus could have a full sized fader.
  24. There is a 3rd party app somewhere I’ve used it a long time ago. so the answer is yes but I can’t find it. It must of been last computer. Someone else here will probably remember the name.
  25. I’ve been doing at lot of track exports for various reasons mostly because I need continuous audio from start to end. There’s things like audio snap and changing the tempo that won’t work with chopped up audio tracks. I use Export- Tracks no effects or automation and then use Mono and 48/ 32 no dithering. My logic for using 32 bit depth is that Cakewalk is working at that rate so best to maintain it. If it’s a waste of time I’ve got nothing to loose.
