good job on a Country swing song. It's super quiet though. You want to be more around 14 LUFS and a peak level of around -1.0. If your not sure on how to do that I cover it in a few of my tutorials.

Great song well done over all, but there's a clicking sound that's distracting that I think is the acoustic guitar? Mostly in my right speaker. listen around 1:15

Great song once again love it all. But on my Yamaha NMS10's the bass is to low. Might be what Ed was getting at. It's very close, but just a nudge of the low end around 100hz? lower?

Melodyne seems to work with Bass and guitar and even a Dobro. Tracking is very close with just random octave jumps. I've never tried my voice, I guess because for me it's easier to play a melody on the piano or guitar. I am going to try the M tuner when I have a chance because I'm always game for cool & free ways to do things.

The trouble I found with applying a effect with process is a mono clip becomes stereo even if the effect has a mono setting. It will still sound the same but it annoying

I have a few options for audio to midi. I own a Godin guitar with midi built in via my Roland GR50. The latency is zero if you play the sounds of the GR50 but substantial if you trigger a soft synth. I haven’t used it in years. I also played with Midiguitar app but it’s tracking was no match for the GR50 rig. And it’s not free. it can be made to work better with some fuss. I haven’t used it in years. What works flawlessly is Melodyne 5. I use it a lot. I only have single track version but plan on upgrading next sale in the fall. The MTuner will have the single track limitation and be fussy to set up but I guess an free option for people who don’t own Melodyne 5. Melodyne is quickly becoming my main tool for audio editing. I have recently discovered the other tools beyond just pitch correction. Those are the timing and the amplitude tools. You basically can work with audio just like you work with Midi. Cakewalk is free and very powerful Cakewalk with a full version of Melodyne built in is not free, but still about what most DAWS will cost without Melodyne.

Project Bit Depth and Export Audio Preset Bit Depth
John Vere replied to sadicus's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
What’s not absolutely clear to me and why I use 32 undithered is the even if that audio was 24 bit it comes out of the project at 32 ( or64) bit. A project can have audio files( tracks) that are all different bit depths. This is especially true of audio dragged from the browser. But the audio engine is running at 32 (64)bit as well as all your processing so all audio exports start out being 32 (64) bit. So any export below 32(64) bit is being technically truncated so dithering should be used. That said there’s probably.006% quality loss if you don’t. -
Using Dimension Pro, Rapture 1.22 sounds in Rature Session

Are there different Versions? Like mine say's 1.5 The installer says D-Proinstall_1.5.5.16 8/4/2015 -
Or if you want lots of confusing advice post on https://gearspace.com/ probably over 3 million posts on your topic. Problem with mikes is the results can be very personal. Everyone will need a different mike. If your voice sounds pretty close to the way you like using the Beta 58 then that’s a good starting point in looking at specs. That’s been my mike for over 12 years after trying dozens of different mikes. So I’m looking at the Shure SM7b based on specs and my good luck with their products. It looks cooler than the Beta.

Project Bit Depth and Export Audio Preset Bit Depth
John Vere replied to sadicus's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
@msmcleod I think you missed the OP’s question which was regarding export of stems, not finished mixes. -
The pro channel EQ is amazing and built in to every track strip. There’s dozens of very good EQ’s for free. Cakewalk requires a bit of learning . Watch these for start. There’s lots of information to absorb and once you get the basic stuff down questions like this will not be at all needed or asked

Using Dimension Pro, Rapture 1.22 sounds in Rature Session
John Vere replied to doubedee60's topic in Instruments & Effects
Odd. I have Dim Pro installed on 3 computers 2 of them which I totally redid about 2 years ago. And I clearly remember having to run as administrator, insert Dim pro and it would take the authorization number. It goes with out saying you have to be on line. -
Funny how everyone is different. I always leave all my faders at unity. Old habit from live sound mixing. I use the gain control for overall static levels for mixing. I also use those readings to make adjustments. Like if a track is 2db too loud, I turn down the gain 2db. Then I might automate a fader which then gives me very precise control over that Tracks level. For that I like to use the inspector. So there’s a good option. Have the track inspector fully customized and then any track in focus could have a full sized fader.

There is a 3rd party app somewhere I’ve used it a long time ago. so the answer is yes but I can’t find it. It must of been last computer. Someone else here will probably remember the name.

Project Bit Depth and Export Audio Preset Bit Depth
John Vere replied to sadicus's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I’ve been doing at lot of track exports for various reasons mostly because I need continuous audio from start to end. There’s things like audio snap and changing the tempo that won’t work with chopped up audio tracks. I use Export- Tracks no effects or automation and then use Mono and 48/ 32 no dithering. My logic for using 32 bit depth is that Cakewalk is working at that rate so best to maintain it. If it’s a waste of time I’ve got nothing to loose. -
That's interesting. I use this tuner exclusively it is always included on my Bass and Guitar track templates. I didn't realize it can do pitch to midi in real time. I guess why not! That's all a tuner really is anyways. Pitch to data.

What is the name of this term in Cakeland? (the wall)
John Vere replied to Starship Krupa's question in Q&A
It seems Cakewalk calls it Start. But references to Zero are included as RTZ ( return to zero ) Now time Displays "0" in all formats M:B:T is the only one that 1:01:00 is equal to Zero (0) In the documentation it seems to always call this Start and then (RTZ) in brackets. The tool tip box shows " Go to Start" -
Not many people cover what was once called Progressive bluegrass. David Grisman's Hot Dawg comes to mind. Most excellent recording and chops!

I forgot I told you I try a few things. My conclusion seems to be that the console view strips are saved with the project. I even loaded a different workspace with the project open and the size of the strips stayed as I made them. I tried a few different projects and workspaces. I could have sworn that they change back to wide all the time?
-
@Bill Phillips As I said I can think of dozens of ways, and your idea would defiantly save a few moves, thanks. I use the split mono and tracks no effects or automation and the peak level stayed the same. I keep forgetting about bounce to tracks being useful.
-
OK I figured it out that view is when you use the effects bin and I'm showing the Pro Channels Effects Chain. But same difference. Signal flow is always top to bottom or as in this case left to right as clearly indicated by the arrows. Same in Vegas movie software the effects are shown left to right.

What is the name of this term in Cakeland? (the wall)
John Vere replied to Starship Krupa's question in Q&A
I always called those the view dividers. You get a different mouse pointer when your on any divider. Double arrow with an equal sign. And there can be things hiding in them as well, Like the Buss Pane at the bottom, the Video view at the top and the Show Audio scale in the track header/pane divider shown here. But if what you are asking is what the extreme left of the track pane is called I call it 1:1:00 or Zero for short. The wall doesn't really fit as to me a wall is something you run into, not away from! It's too bad the Help module is missing a lot of items that could easily be added. I'm always searching for correct names for the tutorials and some like this one are elusive. Most time if you point the mouse at something the help module will tell you what it is and even sometimes have a link to the documentation. It would be cool if they expanded on this so that everything had the link. -
Signal flow goes top to bottom. I am unaware of any view in Cakewalk that goes left to right? Please post a screen shot.

You've got some great song posted there. I added you to my Playlist. My sort of music I guess.

Just turned 69 but I forget the what that means now? I used to know. Great song I don't often listen all the way through but today there seems to be a lot of great songs posted and this was one of them I just had to finish. I can hear a lot of Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen in here. The ending was perfect. Oh, now I'm enjoying your whole playlist!
