  1. You open the 2 projects and simply drag the midi from one to the other. I just did this last night with a drum track and the track followed the projects tempo.
  2. All very clearly documented. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Tempo.07.html#2000135
  3. The Fast track pro is a no go on W10 and newer so it’s not an option in any driver mode. Still works on W7. I’ve only used the 2 interfaces in WDM mode on W7 and live recordings of our band. There was no timing issues that were at least noticeable. I used a Tascam us1641 for 14 channels and a Yamaha usb mixer for Ch 15/16. I also recorded midi from the keyboard.
  4. You can still have a backup of your files. Just copy /paste the whole audio folder or whatever it is you’re worried about messing up to a different drive. Data is data and is easy to move around and make duplicate copies of. You could move the whole works to a external drive and open the bundles from there etc And don’t use bundles anymore they are a PITA.
  5. You should not need a plug in for levels. Each track has a gain and a fader. Then the vocals should be all going to a dedicated vocal bus for further adjustments to the mix. I have a tutorial where I demonstrate my personal workflow for balancing my mix. It might be exactly what you need right now to achieve your goal. #22. Then also #15 and 210 are about mixing basics
  6. Exactly! There’s no risk if you have safety copies of all your work. Storage is cheap, I have probably over 5 copies of most of my Projects. All are in folders and all are both saved as Midi and CWP files.
  7. Video #8 shows you how #3 is also recommended for learning about Cakewalks GUI
  8. My son has the Air x18 and even though I have not tested it with Cakewalk Playlists it most certainly does most of what you want it to do. For now we are just using 3 scenes for when we swap to different instruments. We are just working on this part now and he just bought a second tablet so we’ll both have control. We have only used it for rehearsal so far as most gigs this summer have had systems we used. We also used our Soundcraft signature 10 mixer but it doesn’t have enough inputs etc. Hes been using the x18 with Cakewalk for over a year as he needs a lot of inputs for his crazy synth set up. As you know I just use stereo backing tracks but I do want to try the Playlist system in the future. I’ve never heard any one complaining about the x32 with Cakewalk. For us the x18 has lots of inputs and outputs but i makes my son mad he has to unplug all his stuff when we practice at his house. I might be going over there today to help him set up the 3 mix scenes so I’ll see if we have time to figure out how you can use midi to do that. It will be perfect if it works which I don’t see why it wouldn’t
  9. You should really do a little bit of learning about Cakewalk using the tutorials etc. otherwise it will take forever to figure stuff out
  10. So you managed to install the old ASIO drivers? That’s odd because I tried on 2 different W10 computers and got a warning about incompatible driver. Not that it matters but I wanted to use it on my office computer. I’m just using the onboard audio which is just fine but it’s a hassle when I want headphones as the jacks are on the back.
  11. The problem is you can only use one ASIO driver at a time. You can use both interfaces but not together in ASIO mode. You would have to try either WASAPI or WDM. The Focusrite supports WASAPI but older devices often don’t. So you can do this if you need extra inputs to record a live session. But you don’t want to be using WASAPI or WDM for overdubs or they will not be in sync. You definitely need to stay in ASIO mode for best performance. But for a live session 2 or more interfaces can work just fine. Is that an M Audio fast track pro by any chance? I have one too but it doesn’t have W10 drivers so only runs on W7. If this is only to occasionally use the SPDIF then you can easily just have both interfaces connected but don’t turn them both on. Before you open Cakewalk turn on the one you want to use and it will be ready to roll. I do this with a set up were I have a Tascam 1641, a Scarlett 6i6 and a Motu M4.
  12. And it depends on how they even happened. That’s why I try and only use Overwrite mode. If you use sound on sound or comping mode you might get duped. But if you did use Comp mode it’s easy to open the lane and delete the notes there. The other way that dupe notes happen is having a VST synths midi output enabled and then the new track set to All for the input. You get a Loopback.
  13. Basically I have never noticed it and I’ve used a Scarlett 1gen 6i6 since 2014. But then I rarely use the metronome once I get to the vocals or main guitar overdubs. By then I have a drum track I play too. I’m wondering if this happens at lower gain settings on the input or if it when you crank it up past 2 o clock? I find the Focusrite gain control very sensitive and hard to adjust to avoid clipping. I tend to keep it a lot lower than my other interfaces and end up dealing with the quiet recording later. It’s about my only gripe about the interface
  14. My laptop has only 125 SSD drive and then it has a 500 MB 7400 drive. I have it loaded with Cakewalk and a lot of otherApps. It’s sitting at about 70 %. I just make sure that no data is stored on the C drive.
  15. Who are you asking ? The person who first asked the question? This was their only post almost a year ago. I doubt they will see your question. You should always start a new thread when you have a question and when you do give details. It speeds up the troubleshooting to have some clues to what your system, audio interfaces etc are.
  16. Good info but not a place I belong! It's good to know what Cakewalk has been set up to do under the hood but I'm a musician, not a coder. Now I've found the Sysex view I've solved a few other mysteries. I opened 2 misbehaving projects and sure enough there was that GS reset line. Delete it and all issues including the delayed transport are gone. This might be the OP's problem if they somehow used second hand midi data.
  17. Ya I found it. Thanks. I edited my post above.
  18. Is there a Sysex view? I’m going to feel really dumb if there is, and now you’ve mentioned it I do believe there is! Edit : Well Son of a gun! why is it you can use software for 30 years and still find something you've been looking for was right under your nose! Now I'll check here next time a downloaded project misbehaves.
  19. When this happens to me it is usually a download midi file that has extra stuff hidden that I’ve never figured out how you get at it in Cakewalk. A few things that work: Slip edit or use split/ delete up to the very first note in the track. If anything was hidden it will be in that first measure. Or I insert a new instance of the instrument as a simple instrument track and drag the midi data there. If it was a multi channel instrument I drag the midi data to fresh midi tracks. The hidden midi data issue has gone way , way back for me and I’d often open the files in other sequencers where it would be visible. Once I figured out those 2 tricks I’ve not had any problems cleaning up the data this way. I just figured this out today and the other place to look is the Sysex view.
  20. Not sure exactly what you’re after but most of us use a dedicated drum VST. Like I use Addictive Drums. Most have lots of different kits available and the kit can be played from either your keyboard controller or a set of pads. You can also create patterns using the step sequencer or just draw them in PVR view. There are lots of free drum VST’s available check out the thread that is below this one. I’ve see plenty of lo fi kits for free.
  21. Here' s the file the offending track is 9 and 10 , AT the HOP.cwp
  22. In the million years I've used midi I've actually never had to have anything to do with creating or saving System Exclusive data. It's just something I would see in the back of my owners manuals and the message sometimes appears when you open a Midi file that there is System Exclusive data in the file and do I want to load it. I usually say yes thinking along the lines that it can do no harm to Cakewalk. It's purpose seems to be for Hardware, right? . It might do harm to my sound modules but they are not hooked up... But I've often had these midi files that misbehave. Things like you can't set the volume of an instrument or patches that don't stick. The solution is usually easily fixed in the Event list but sometimes these things are not showing there?? The workaround would be to sometimes slip edit the track a bit and what ever was hiding at the start of the track would be ignored. This doesn't always work. What does seem to work is to copy the midi dat to a fresh track. Why does this work>?? you would think you also copied the hidden data that was causing you grief?? There's a thread goin right now where the OP has a problem with the Transport not starting right away. This happens to me from time to time and it just happened last night. I have a lot of CWP files that have absolutely no audio that are my backing tracks. I need to put together about 50 songs for a gig in October. About at song number 7 I run into this same issue where the transport does not start right away. I get a Blue circle for about 3 seconds. Normally I just get P'd off but carry on. This time because of the other thread I decide I'll investigate. Turns out it is a certain midi track causing this and only causes it with True Piano's?? Song is a downloaded mid file. I have reworked it probably a few times over the last 10 years so not sure what the original file was. But only one track when un muted causes the transport to stall. If you mute it the transport responded properly. I tried a few things. The only 2 thing that works is to change the instrument to anything but True pianos or to copy the midi data to a blank track?? . If I replace it with any other VST no more stall. If I re install True pianos it stalls again. Copying the data to a fresh track allows me to use True Pianos. So what the heck is hiding from me in that original track. Is this system Exclusive data??? How do you view it?
  23. Don’t save it as a bundle. Just use save as CWP / Normal and put it on a different drive. For what it’s worth. if you have made that big a mess on that drive it will be a lot of work to fix it. if it was me I would buy a new drive and simply use save as to copy the projects I am actually needing to a fresh location and keep old drive as a backup. Less work. Edit : Talking to the wind again.
