Got around all the pain of waves licenses and different systems via saving the Lics to USB via waves central. Then what ever system you are using just make sure that USB is attached before launching DAW. Works fine for me, no stress :D

I do like that they provide this option ?

But I already need to expand my USB hub again for things that actually require USB, like MIDI controllers, audio interfaces, external drives, etc, not for software to talk to a piece of hardware it has no other purpose needing ?

But I just simply buy other amazing devs and I don't have to bother at all with USB (unless I choose to), as they provide 2, 3, or in some cases licenses for as many machines as I have for life ?

Waves plug don't ever "expire", you just won't get new versions or fixes to the old ones.

Another downside to WUP is that you only have one license, unless you have active WUP.

Most of the good companies around these days provide at least 2 licenses by default, which is much more convenient if you have a desktop and a laptop, or the studio rig and one at home.

This deal is actually quite a good price and I was almost tempted, but I've been trying to replace all of my plugins with other devs, so there's no chance I'll ever need to spend more  money on WUP for something I've already bought ?

    I still had a look though ?

How do the Fenders amps stack up (I assume AT Fender Collection would do pretty well)?

I got the Fender Collection for free in the last IK Group Buy and mostly just because I'd already picked a lot of things I really wanted first, but when I got it I was really impressed by the sound. Even more so than some of the choices I'd picked in preference first!

I'd recommend trying the demo ?

Amp Sims depend a lot on the pickups/guitar and the interface it's going through, so it's always best to try on your set-up. More so than most plugins, etc..

You gitta be carfull with freedbess because it usually , if you don't unselect them , increase your WUP if you have bundles ....beware

There's not a chance in hell I'll ever pay WUP (or buy another Waves plugin until they scrap it!), so I'm safe there! ?

If only the masses didn't for a year, there would no longer be WUP and they'd have to change their model ?

Be aware that the $49 one is ISL 1 and the $206 at EveryPlugin is ISL 2 I believe

Oh wow, that's a great pickup, I did not notice that! I'll have to see what the difference between them is. Thanks ?

Found it at EveryPlugin, but with the wrong price...

    https://everyplugin.com/isl.html

    Great stuff. Thanks.

That was actually the only one I was interested in!

I'd seen this one around a little but haven't tried it yet and at full price, I likely wouldn't. But on sale it's got me curious and wondering whether it's worth adding into the kit..

    Have you used it?

This is much better, the phone home every 30 days thing, wtf? I think there are more people using mainly offline DAW's than these DAW makers realize. By mainly offline, I mean only connecting to the internet to authorize and then that's it.

Agreed, it's definitely better. Although there's clowns like iLok that use an always on connection for their cloud activations, so you need to be connected everytime you use the plugins!

Hopefully they pay attention too ?

They do offer dongles and machine activations (for some plugins), but anything that has a requirement for ALWAYS having an internet connection is bound to cause problems sooner or later.

  8. I picked this as the Christmas freebie from Applied Acoustics and so far out of the ones I've been through, there's a couple where I've been pleasantly surprised ?

Like Brian mentioned, the vibrato and even breath/noise was a little heavy on some, but with the full version of Ultra Analog 3 it was easy enough to tweak them. Others were fine without any tweaking.

Looking forward to going through the rest of the patches now ?

I took the plunge and did a bit of testing this evening, so I think I can answer this for Cakewalk, at least. (And what other DAWs would anyone care about, anyway? Are there even others? Who can say?)

For instruments, nearly every plugin seems to work in Cakewalk. Some of these are 32bit, so compatibility with some other DAWs is dicey, but here's the rundown:

Acoustica (minimal GUI, basically ROMplers/preset lists): Instruments, Expanded Instruments, Studio Drums
    Acoustica (full GUI): Pianissimo
    GSonique (32bit): Alien 303, Renegade
    Kastelheimer (32bit): Veldberg XD
    Memorymoon: ME80 (32bit), ME80 v2.5, Messiah (32bit), Messiah 2, Memorymoon Synth

The separate registration for Cherry Audio (Voltage Modular) Ignite works independently, and the modules registered are included when running VM standalone or in Cakewalk.

I believe the included VoltKitchen MinimogueVA also works, but I already owned that, and I didn't retest the version from Mixcraft. Ditto AAS Lounge Lizard Session and Journeys bank, GSi(?) VB3, Martinic Combo Organs F / V and Acoustica Nightlife (32bit), which I had previously installed (and some of which are free) and didn't test the versions from Mixcraft.

Unlike these, QuikQuak Glass Viper is locked to Mixcraft and won't work outside it.

Most of the bundled effects also work in Cakewalk, and many of these are also 32bit:

Acoustica: 31-Band EQ, Pro Studio Reverb, VocalZap
    Epralux (32bit): ORB7000, POD4500
Online Mastering Studio EU (32bit): EU ProMixEQ-10A
    G-Sonique (32bit): DTC-1, Dubmaster Liquid Delay, Dubshox H8, FAT+, FSQ1964, GSXL 4070 EQ,M/S Envelope Follower+, M/S Harmonics Vitalizer+, M/S Stereophase Filter+, Pultronic EQ 110P, TrebleCream, Twisthead VS-206, VTD-42 Psychedelic Delay, XBass 4000, Zener Limiter LM-2Z
    Pentode Audio (32bit): PSEQ-1, TRW-1, VBE-1, VTC-1
ToneBoosters (all v3, so previous versions to those on the TB website, and mostly "demo" versions, which I believe remain functional indefinitely, but perhaps others can comment on the specifics): Barricade, Broadcast, BusCompressor, Compressor, DeEsser, Dither, Equalizer, EZQ, Ferox, FIX, FIX4, Gate, MultiFX, Reverb, TimeMachine (I can say that most of these from Mixcraft work in Cakewalk, though I happened to have a couple [Barricade, Reverb, etc.] previously installed, so I didn't test those.)

I already have Melodyne Essential, so I didn't try the separate registration for that, but my best guess is that it works independently of the DAW, similar to Ignite above. I also had previously installed GVST GSnap and GTune, Voxengo Boogex and SPAN, AcmeBarGig Shred (32bit), all of which I think are free, and I didn't test those.

The effects locked to Mixcraft include QuikQuak Fusion Field and Studio Devil Virtual Bass Amp.

There are also plugins available under directories called "Legacy" and "Pro Studio Legacy" that appear to be earlier versions or outdated precursors of various TB, Acoustica and perhaps other plugins, but I didn't test any of those in Cakewalk. (Or in Mixcraft, for that matter. Leave the past in the past, eh?)

    Hope this helps!

Edited to add: So far as I could see, the Alpha and Omni samplers are not among the plugins in Mixcraft 9 Pro's VST directory, so those may be even deeper "baked in" to the Mixcraft DAW. (Or I just missed them.) Also, as best I can ascertain, Cakewalk ignored the iZotope "Mastering Essentials" plugin included among the effects plugins. This may be because I have some other iZotope plugins installed, complete non-M9 DAW incompatibility or some other reason.

That does indeed! VERY helpful ? It's a bit of a shame that so many are 32bit and the ToneBoosters are only demo. ToneBoosters seem quite good really, so I was more interested in them.

I already have Ignite Nucleus and Melodyne Essentials, so it's awesome value in general, but it doesn't give me personally a heap more that I need.

    Still tempting though.. I guess that's G.A.S... haha.. ?

I'm thinking of getting the bundle upgrade.
Anybody have any yeas or nays for it?
Do you like it and use it,  or is it a waste?

I have it and the more I dig into it, the more I love it. For me, the strange thing is I just really dislike the default setting. Once I back off the transients and adjust some of the times, it's REALLY good ?

It's a multiband limiter, but not really like other multiband limiters I've used. It can be super transparent.

I've got Pro-L2, Xenon, Limiter6 and others and it's more comprehensive than all of them. Handles being pushed well. They all can have a place at times though depending on the source audio.

I also mainly just used Elevate bundle until recently, but lately I've been using Saturate (Clipper) from it as well, and Punctuate (Multiband transient shaper). Both in Elevate, but also can be used as plugins by themselves and they're actually pretty damn good!

It's also handy having it all in one, so having the EQ in there is useful as well. I haven't used the EQ heaps separately, but I'm sure if I spent more time with it, I can see it being excellent too.

I'd happily buy it again if I needed it ?

At that price I suppose its worth having? .. though I have Mixcraft 9 Recording Studio

A big reason would be if all or most of the plugins work in other DAWS like CW which is my main DAW ( Ableton after that ). Other than all the plugins in other DAWS is it worth having it I wonder, as a DAW in its own right particularly when we have CW already. Anything in MC thats not anywhere else I wonder?

I couldn't see anything definite about whether all the plugins would work in other DAWs last time I looked so I gave it a miss. Would be interesting to know for sure.

    The MFreeformAnalogEq is nice.

It has a lot of options beyond just hand drawn curves. You can use points to add bands and easily adjust the curves in between.

You can also show the frequency zones with different displays, such as ranges from high to low, or by octaves, etc.

Some interesting points there.. thanks! I might have to give it a try and before I decide I think ?

Depends on how well you can draw.  I'd say it is a workflow thing.  Melda makes good stuff - it might not offer anything different than an alternative workflow.

It isn't a go to for me but I also don't usually have the Wacom setup when I'm making music.

    Thanks Brian ?

I do like Melda and they have some great things, but I also have Harrison Ava Mastering EQ which allows me to draw curves and seems to sound quite good!

I struggled with it a little at first, but the last time I used that I was quite surprised!

I tend not to have Wacom tablet when producing either! ?

This is exactly how I plan on using it as well, except I'll be producing in Studio One and the MPC2 software. When I pulled a couple of stems into Mixbus from Studio One, and played around with the eq's and compressors, I was sold on making this purchase. Just like Marc Cormier, there's something about the analog feel that draws me in. ?

Totally get it! Lots of hype in marketing in audio stuff, so I was pretty skeptical, but I can see it fitting nicely along them as well.

Sometimes it's worth it alone for the inspiration and creativity buzz ?

This seems like a lot of bang for the buck.  Like, seriously.  I checkout out some of the videos and it seems intuitive.  24 hours isn't enough time for a trial but for $49....

I've only used it for a little while (since that offer!), but there's something I really like about it..

It's not perfect and I think I'd always produce in Cubase, but for mixing, stems,  mastering, or just arranging an album it's easily worth it... and fun!

I've actually gone down the rabbit hole of DIY hardware gear, lots of fun! I have a more hybrid workflow now and stick with Nebula libraries and quality algos along with hardware. I got sick of having to freeze tracks using CPU hungry Acustica plugins too

Oh that does sound like a rabbit hole.. but agree a lot of fun! Was just reading up on analogue summing as well and also couldn't rule out adding a bit of extra hardware to the kit ?

Agreed on the CPU hogs.. although for one piece of hardware, if we all spent that on the computer/upgrade, it would be a non issue too ?

I've been testing out Viridian2 and Amethyst4 so far. I think I'm preferring Amethyst, but I'll put them through a few more paces.

I know stepped is common, especially for mastering, but I also preferred the EQs etc being non stepped in Amethyst and from a usability perspective it just seems like a slightly better workflow.

I’ve sold a lot of my Acustica plugs but will never sell Gold, lovely Neve sound. Not sure how much it’s on for but it’s a winner. Out of your list above, water and viridian have a lovely vintage coloured sound too

Thanks Tom. That one does look good ? I figured I might get one of the ones that are cheaper/on a bigger sale as that would then also get me the discount offers on the other ones. Because the ones I have were freebies, I don't seem to get any of those offers. I'll make a note of Gold though.

What have you moved to instead of Acustica and why, or have you just trimmed down what you have?
