    UniChannel
    by Soundevice Digital
    Inspiration in variety
Having a vintage gear collection in the studio is nice and inspirational but unfortunately, it is also time-consuming and expensive. SounDevice Studio's owner, Boris Carloff, knows this very well, as he has been collecting vintage gear for more than 20 years:

"There is always something not working. From tubes to scratchy pots, from meters to noisy caps. And the units are so rare that you can hardly ever use them on multiple channels simultaneously." To avoid these limitations, we were inspired to create a solution that included the best of these devices into one plugin. The result is UniChannel.

    You mean like this? ?

In typical Arturia fashion their servers are late to the party as always ? I checked their homepage before and it wasn't up there, so at least this confirms it now. Very tempting.. I might have to bite..

I have held off, but I don't think I'm going to see it for $99 as a crossgrade or anything, so now is probably as good as any time to get it ?

Ya, nothing on their site. If I remember right, the FX bundle was on sale last BF, and it was one of the better sales of the season. I didn't buy it, but I remember it being a very popular thread. I'd personally wait till Black Friday if they haven't done an official "black friday" announcement.

Thanks Carl and it wouldn't surprise me if they dropped something to sweeten it for the actual sale. Could go either way with this one, but the $149 has popped up a few times so I might hold out for a little while just in case.

I don't consider this a duplicate deal / double post, since Zolton's post was in a thread about Minipol Pro. I would have completely missed this offer if you hadn't made a new topic, so thank you, Peter.

Since the topics sometimes drop out of sight faster than the end credits of an average tv soap, I don't mind if some deals get posted twice. If I've seen it before, I can just ignore it. If not, I thank the poster for double posting and bringing it to my attention. :)

Agreed on that as well.. sometimes it's the duplicate post that I actually see that helps me get the deal.. that's not to say I don't feel bad posting dupes personally though, but that's different ?

I have both, been giving AC/DC1(that's what I call it, every time I looked at the name I saw AC?DC, so . . . ) a good working through since release and for me the Softube comes out on top, it has more balls, and you can coax to be more 'aggressive' in a nice way, it has character where for me AC/DC1 is bland and pretty much characterless. It seems to have a 'very' narrow sweet spot, not as easy to dial in. A lot depends on what you are feeding it, I feed my stuff 90% Hard/Heavy Rock, 10% a mellower rock diet.

There seems to be issues with certain things like fine control using a modifier key. Gain reduction metering is useless, seems to be just eye candy.

Problems with the headroom control affecting the dry signal with the wet/dry mix.

It has issues, still a quality product all in all, but for me not keeping pace with Softube.

I'll use it now and then, there's probably places it will shine.

just IMO, YMMV etc etc etc.

Thanks Heath, that's a really handy comparison. Nice to see you still praise it as a good product, even though it's not quite in the same league. I might still give it a demo, but a compressor has to be pretty damn good, or unique these days for it to tempt me!

Voucher ends Nov 1st, 11:59 PM EST

Maybe they intended on releasing this little sooner, or otherwise it's looking like about a 12 month intro ?

I am a little intrigued how their Chandler stacks up against Softube, etc

I'd find it hard to believe unless FL Loops was the basic sequencer.  If you bought a boxed version of any FL product you paid $29 for LT updates.

Funny that we are on a DAW forum where some of us forked out $199 that is now freeware.

That's always a tricky one.. awesome generosity to make it available free, but I can somewhat understand how people feel in those situations. Still I'd rather companies give away stuff for free as much as possible! I'd bought some of the Kilohearts plugins which are now all free and paid for a couple of others than ended up on promo/giveaways. But at least I got to have fun with them a little sooner than I would've otherwise ?

FL Studio (previously known as FruityLoops before 2003)

I went for the lifetime  FruityLoops update 2002. Soon after, they discontinued FruityLoops and all updates were stopped. They changed the program name to FL Studio. Everyone that bought the "Lifetime" version was screwed. It is the same program just renamed. A technicality use to get out of the "Lifetime" updates.

If that's true that's a really shady thing to do.. I don't use FL, but always thought that was a really cool benefit.
