Pretty sure some of them are soundspot under the hood with some facial surgery.
Which of course impacts ones perception on the price.
I wonder if I can even install the old soundspot stuff if I wanted to.
Install yes.. activate no.. they took the activation server offline

I can't really apply that to VIs. It's just sounds moving on a drive. A Bach 1C,3D, 6C, feel different when playing a trumpet. No sample library will ever reveal that. It is the same with many pianos, guitars, any real instrument. So the feel in not in the instrument but the means of carrying them when it comes to VIs..
To some my philosophy would be considered blasphemy.
I think that philosophy is completely fine and I get it.
For me, I'll often use a really set of nice open back headphones and the sound can be really immersive and in some ways, a quality you can't actually get from the real instruments. Especially when it comes to some of the reverbs and other modulation effects combined with higher quality VIs. So the fun is from a really nice lush sound, as well as playing the instrument (on MIDI controller), so you don't get that tactile feel and maybe the true to life quality and sound of the real instrument, but you get something amazing in it's own right. Often layered sounds that can't even be created by physical instruments.

I don't get the appeal of large pianos that are larger than a handful of Linux distros. Sure they sound good but outside the DAW world a listener doesn't care.
I totally get that and it's pretty valid. Some stuff I buy purely just for enjoyment and playing. I don't always care about it outside of the the DAW and sometimes that extra quality just has a better feel to it and it makes it more enjoyable, so sometimes it's worth it for that alone for me. I do also pass on some stuff due to taking up too much disk space as well though.

I get the dumping of Syntronik.
I never cared for any Sampletron library for other romplers but IK version is so far above the rest.
I guess the nest frontier for ST is encourage users to create their own stuff and lessons how to.
Then again maybe they realize the rompler thing is a saturated market and not spend resources on it.
or do Modo stuff which is more modeling. I love the Modo Bass. It doesn't dent a drive either
That's the thing though .. they already have it. If they did nothing but simply improved the installer and just simple QA / minor tweaks, they could sell ST for years to come, with little to no development. It's already a known product, so advertising needs would be minor and even just the odd marketing campaign would keep sales ticking over. I have wondered if it's due to bandwidth requirements for downloads, but even those new pianos are large! Come to think of it... Don't think I'll buy them now as they might disctinue them for the same reason if that was the case 😂
And if it's not they might discontinue them anyway, so I'll probably given them a pass now and not buy them even though the one I've got I like!

I found a 20% off code - 8DIO20 - which made it $59.20 which pushed me over the edge.
No way I could pass that up!You're not making it any easier Lars.. my money may not be safe with this deal! haha..

Easy pass for me on this one. It doesn't really add enough to make it worthwhile from a cost perspective, but even more so, there's no backwards compatibility maintained so you need to keep every version installed on your computer to open old projects.
It's easy just sticking with what you have and skipping multiple years, or forever! No additional redundancy and clutter in the plugins list and plugin scans.
Unless there's a pricing glitch somewhere, my money is safe on this one.

You already shared this one back in August, but not a bad reminder anyway as it's a pretty good freebie

DEFINITELY watch a few videos to get your head around it. Once you (kinda) understand it, it really opens up and you'll be amazed at all the possibilities. I hated it when I first got it because I didn't grasp the workflow. When I did, I was floored at what it can do (and still am) .
I realized I needed to watch a tutorial or two when I first tried to modulate a filter by velocity and it didn't work as I expected!
I'm still learning it really, but I'm the same as you. This thing is probably the most deep and powerful there is, but on top of that, it sounds great and their effects in it are really good quality and better than a lot of the competition. I'd almost go as far to say better than just about all the flagship synths, apart from maybe u-he. Some of their included effects are really nice. Not Hive though.. don't really like the effects much on that one from u-he at all! Still a great and fun synth and I'm glad I own it, but definitely mainly use external effects for it.
This was a good little primer to get started:
I'm also planning on going through these at some point:

It does for me.
@IK Multimedia - any insight on why those products were discontinued? They really weren't that old.
What's worse is they were some of the better ones. SampleTron in particular I really like. While there is a lot of filler in Syntronik, it actually has some great sounds too.
This would weaken the value proposition of future Total Studio bundles for me personally.
It often makes me more cautious of buying from companies when they discontinue products like this as well, as I get less faith in their products being viable for long term. With pulling MixBox too it seems there is a lot of instability in future direction when buying IK at the moment.
It probably makes sense to them, their roadmap and future direction, but as a customer I'm not inclined to jump onto products that might become sinking ships when there are alternatives that have a lower risk in that regard.

1 down, scored Falcon, that's apparently the lowest price it's been, I was going to just leave it there and wait until it went back to full price just on ethical grounds, but . . .
If you want to edit the presets, I'd probably still recommend watching a tutorial, or two on this one. Because it's so modular, there are a couple of concepts that are simple once you grasp them, but can take it little bit to understand if you're just winging it.

That doesn't help Fleer....
It is the correct answer though
As for Falcon, it's is often misunderstood and described as a sampler. It's really way more than that and really deep and for sound design it's one of the most powerful options out there. It reminds me of Phaseplant in someways as you have almost infinite control over architecture and layers of the patches. It has some peculiarities and isn't perfect, but there's probably no end to what sounds you can create with it.

Looks cool but also wonder what made them come in at a substantially higher price point for this release than other things they have done in the past. (other than the super esoteric and odd lathe cutting simulator they released)
I think it's because it's not purely their product. Same as OD Deedger, which has always been more expensive. And lots of developers in this space are probably thinking that Soothe got away with it, so they can. (Spoiler alert for them.. they won't with me 🤣)

With no proper upgrade, such an easy pass. I love these easy decisions. They don't even take up a fraction of a thought.
Pretty sure it would be cheaper for me to buy the plugins from the bundle that I don't own when on sale.
Softube = Fail on this one. Even with the loyalty voucher I haven't used from them it's still an easy no

The GAS is going to getcha. Resist. Save your $2 towards something you'll actually use.
I'd say quite a few of these will actually get quite a bit of use. They're coded by the same dev as Kiive (Eddie) and most of his own plugins and the other brands he does the coding for are really good and I use regularly. I've a only heard good things really about the Purafied plugins and seem to remember the Liquid Death Snare being good too, so it was a bit of a no-brainer for me 🙂

GENOME has really come a long way over the last few years. And they keep adding new stuff. I find myself using it more and more.
I get pleasantly surprised by this every time I fire it up. It doesn't seem to get a heap of praise or attention, but it can sound pretty decent really.
Even better that I got it for free for owning Torpedo Wall Of Sound, which I also got from free from Audient.
It even supports offline sign-in / activation.

rare does an end user ever benefit from these acquisitions
the only one I can recall is Yamaha taking over Steinberg
Anything Image Line has acquired, UVI, Melda, WA, they don't interfere
BTW from glimpses Music Maker may be an underrated DAW
While I would normally agree with that, I'm not too sure in this situation. It seems that most people seem to think that development and bugfixes have been pretty slow with Samplitude, so in this case it might even be the exception. They have said they have more developers / resources for it, so who knows.. time will tell I guess.
I think I even have Music Maker and haven't installed it yet! We're spoilt for choices these days.
Magix has often had some weird and heavy handed restrictions on some of their products. I almost never use loops, so I'm OK with restrictions on that, but if I buy something, then I always want no restrictions on one-shot samples at least. I think Music Maker might have been one of the more restrictive ones from memory, which is why I wasn't in a hurry to install.

I'm guessing this offering of the OP is a repackaging of the Magix Restoration Suite plugs?
I'm not sure really.. That branding has been around for a very long time doing similar stuff, but I'm not familiar with them.
It's possible they are incorporating some of the algorithms or tech into them now though.
But they have existed for at least 15 years or so it seems:

Samplitude and Sequoia are now under BorisFX and they have released new versions but sadly
even if you own a current version it doesn't show up, so you have no way to upgrade despite the
fact that they offer an upgrade. Very poorly thought out transition IMO.That's kind of what I was checking for too. It shows the upgrade prices, but not anything under downloads / orders. I wonder if it's being transitioned, otherwise I suspect if you wanted to upgrade you might be able to contact support.
We’re excited to welcome Swivel Audio to Plugin Alliance!
