Sound Particles' Brightness Panner is also good. I like to use them on hi-hat loops.
I was looking at that one and I can imagine that being quite useful.
I already have Soundtoys PanMan and Cableguys Pancake 2 and now the new Cubase FX Modulator but they do seem to allow you to get some different sound/modulation between them, so it doesn't hurt to have a few ?

I've been playing with the free one this evening. It is quite different to Valhalla and Exponential Audio's reverbs. The closest parallel I can think of is EastWest Spaces II, although it's not quite as diverse as that in the selection. But the quality - even in the Lite edition - sounds higher to my ears than Spaces II. I'm pretty surprised at how good it is, considering they gave this Lite version away for free.
That's pretty impressive Craig .. I might have to revisit that at some stage then. I prefer things that are lighter on disk space, but sometimes they really are justified, so I don't completely rule anything out..

Sorry I just realised it's 193 gigs for the download now. LOL. 193 gigs. Take that SoundPaint!
As much as I totally jumped on that initial offer, I did somewhat think that the extra disk space might not be justified compared to Valhalla, Exponential Audio, etc. They're really good and take up next to no space ?

This is good stuff, I like their plugins
Great stuff Kevin. I don't have too much experience with their plugins, but I do love some of the more creative panning plugins, so looking forward to giving it a shot ?

Indeed. And they just started a new line of synths, iLok free.
I saw that... Although some look remarkably similar to some of their current ones ??
I didn't know that about iLok though. I'm sure some people will be very happy about it!

I actually don't mind some of these, but they do seem a bit like abandonware and no VST3. Given Steinberg has announced they're deprecating VST2 (and have already for Mac), I'd be reluctant in trusting them to update them.

But I just checked to confirm and using the bit.ly URL in the magazine issue itself, and entering a word from one of the pages (as usual) worked - I was able to access the full page of downloads including the ACON plugin.
I suspect they'll need to keep that, as it is for previous editions, but it sounded like the new editions won't have the Bitly link.
They probably should just change a magazine purchase to a single edition subscription. That way everyone gets a subscription code, while protecting it from users getting it as part of their library access, Readly or others which is what I assume they are trying to stop.
Otherwise if buying a single copy doesn't get you the free downloads, then I fear they're going to lose a lot of customers...

If you mean the free plugins, you can download them without a subscription at https://www.serialcenter.de/
That only provides the serials though doesn't it? You normally have to go to the Bitly URL when you buy the mag. But I've read that's changed and you need a subscription code now. Holding off on buying a single edition until I know if that still works..

Great price and looks interesting. Think I'll hold back until these guys update to VST3, but I'll keep this one in mind.
My other main Phaser is from Soundtoys and they still haven't updated yet either last I checked, so no point me adding more VST2 to the kit given it's been announced they're deprecating that standard.
Now that PA, NI and iZotope are all one company, I wonder if that might help drive a/the new open source alternative plugin standard.
Would be great to get rid of AAX, AU, VST2 etc and just have one universal standard.. would save a truckload of diskspace with installers alone.. plus reduce so much testing.
Fingers crossed ?

Thanks. Purchased from Jrrshop.
Great stuff and hope you enjoy them.
I only just discovered SSL 360 (mentioned in this thread too) which is free and gives you an interface to control all the instances of these plugins across any tracks using a virtual SSL mixer!
SSL 360 plugin mixer for channel strip 2 and bus compressor 2
Quite an interesting option/extra ?

I have bx_console E and bx_townhouse (not to mention IK). Any compelling reason to pick this up?
I have the BX 9000J and Townhouse and these do add something different. I prefer the SSL buss comp to townhouse. It's cleaner, but great for glue, so might be more versatile for the master buss.. Townhouse will still have it's place for me too, as sometimes it's not a clean sound I'm after. Thinking drum bus, etc.
Console E is based off the 4000E, whereas this Channel Strip 2 is 9000K. Its a much cleaner sound, so should add something different to what you have. Even though they're closer, in ways, I prefer the SSL strip more than the BX 9000J. Especially the high EQ. I'm sure I'll still be using the BX 9000J too though. I like the THD, TMT etc that BX add. Just different options ?

I wouldn't say this is my favourite Focusite freebie.. a couple of OK sounds, but glad I didn't pay for it ?

That was my same thought. I would be interested to know how much TS lowers the upgrade cost to Vol 5, but I'm sure it's
not much, if anythingI think the upgrade price with Softube is weird and someone mentioned that they only take your most expensive plugin currently owned into account when calculating the upgrade price. So if you have lots of the cheaper ones it makes no difference. I haven't been able to confirm that yet, but it does look that way...

Great price! Almost went to buy it and then thought.. I have plenty of transient shapers and really don't need another at all ??
Also decided that if I ever end up grabbing Softube Volume 5 or 6 when it comes out, it's in that anyway.

Only VST2 if that is a consideration.. sounds nice though ?

Will be interesting to see how the performance improvements go.
Freezing and unfreezing multiple tracks is a nice touch too.
And finally, the trials are available and no dongle/eLicenser ?
-
Normally with freebies and crazy offers it pays to be quick... Seems my logic failed me on this occasion and I should've waited ?

I recall someone saying at one point that if you have all 3 of the Lindell "500" series FX that you get the Channel X framework for free, but I only see it listed at full price even though I have the set.
You just contact support and they add an NFR licence for Channel X to your account.

Is Acustica also just making regular plugins now too? This doesn't seem like it's based off any hardware.
I'm not gonna buy it, but just curious to know if they're going in that direction.

FFS! Own literally everything on the list except the PA Ampeg SVT-VR. Although PA and iZotope have given away a few of these before. That Shadow Hills and HG-2 are huge giveaways though. Man o man.
Kinda the same, but still very happy even to just get Shadow Hills for free ?

Sweet. Shadow Hills and HG-2. Luckily I didn’t get them earlier, like Masterdesk, Oberhausen and the Focusrite.
I already owned them all, apart from Shadow Hills. I only paid for HG-2 and Oberhausen though and at least have had them to use for ages, so I don't mind too much.
Shadow Hills I didn't really think much of, but this time around I like it. But that's because I think I just really don't like the Opto compressor in it at all.. with that turned off, it does have an OK sound!
Crazy generous offer really ??

I'd just been giving the Weiss MM-1 a trial over the last few days and I had thought I'd pick them up next time it came on sale, as I know it seems quite well regarded.
But when I A->B tested it against some of my other limiters including Pro-L2, PSP Xenon and some others, I was generally able to get the same sort of results with the others and often better. The only thing that's a bit different is the wide profile, which I do like but there's other ways to get similar width and the other limiters are much more feature rich and configurable.
So I'm thinking I might even give it a miss now.
I've also been considering UrsaDSP boost and think I might look at that instead. It's a little more unique to the other standard ones.
