Open source licensing for ASIO at last!
Wookiee replied to Starship Krupa's topic in Computer Systems
Aren't Microsoft releasing a Windows native ASIO driver? -
@mark skinner inspiration is illusive, sit back, chill, it will find you it may be 6 months it may be 6 minutes. You have talent, the inspiration will find its way back.

Interesting groove to open it but it does kind of feel a little off, as note by Nigel it settles down.

Thanks @Glenn Stanton I only asked because there has been some reports from MIDI users of issues with MIDI hardware.
-
Thank you Nigel, very humbling to be likened to Kraftwork.
-
Any one tried this update? Has the introduction of MIDI 2.0 had any impact on your MIDI hardware?

@sjoens both delete and delete special are not as complete as they could be. Ripple Edit affects all data, including envelopes.

I really don't understand what your trying to discover. There are very few changes that you can truly make. Most modern software is self configuring for it operational priority against other tasks. Windows scheduler will optimise for best operation. However, have you configured your PC as a DAW? Have you looked at task manager when Sonar is running will tell you its priority. Don't set your PC for background tadk priority that is a very old thing back in the 90's when we only had 1 CPU running at MHz. Have you run Resplendent LatencyMon, which is free, to determine if your machine is optimised for DAW function. I have been using Cakewalk software since 1992, I have never had to make any changes to the PC's other than the default tweaks regarding the machines being DAW's. Default tweaks. Disable sleep and hibernation, disable screen savers, set power settings to maximum, set CPU's min and max states both to 100%, use wired networking, disabled HDMI audio and the on board audio device.

@JazzP I have to ask what makes you think Sonar is worse than CbB? What makes you think that Sonar is not making optimum use of the processing power of your PC? What are you desperate to know about how Sonar is using your PC's resources? Sonar's code is built, and improved, on CbB. They have done a lot of work on the whole programme making better use of the CPU, in particular with P & E cores. Have you examined your settings in Preferences? The simplest way to make sure any DAW is getting the optimum is never run another main programme at the same time.

Obliviously it is the nature of a subscription. You could buy the full version of Overloud's TH-U then you could use it in any DAW and standalone.
-
@JazzP you may want to search this forum, I suggest you use an external search engine, as the audio engine in Sonar has had some significant changes applied over CbB. In particular to do with P-cores and E-cores, with P-cores being used for audio processing. This was mainly done later part of 2024 Noel gives a quite detailed explanation, this is why the information is different CbB.

It is how you pay to use the full version of Cakewalk Sonar. Overloud's TH-U is not part of Cakewalk Sonar a special version specifically for Sonar is included but for the full version you would purchase that from Overloud.

@Bass Guitar Gibson didn't go broke. They filed section 11 anti bankruptcy protection. As they have done with several other software products they have purchased they dumped Cakewalk Inc., all its staff and products. To be precise at 11:00 am EST, on the 17th of November 2017 they announced to the staff that they no longer had a job. They didn't even tell us, they left it to a couple of dedicated staff to deliver the information.

Splitting audio track into separate tracks for a CD
Wookiee replied to Eric Woodring's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
Unfortunately @Eric Woodring Sonar is not really a CD construction software as noted by @Bass Guitar a proper wave editing software like Soundforge would be better.
