  1. Lads I am blown away. Tonight I was on twitter and up came a tweet from this young girl called Nandi Bushell ( https://twitter.com/Nandi_Bushell ). In it she linked to this youtube vid of her perfectly playing along to a difficult drumming track "TOM SAWYER" and doing it absolute justice. Neil would approve I think. And wait for it ... SHE IS ONLY 11 YEARS OLD This one is for you Professor Peart. I wanted to try a @rush song that would really challenge me. I watched an interview were the Professor said Tom Sawyer 'remains so difficult to play'. So I thought I would give it a try. It's actually really fun to play. I really hope I have done the song justice, Professor Pearts' playing is incredible. I hope I got the strength and smoothness balance right. I have a new found love for RUSH now too!
  2. Just picked up Vangelis Tribute II '90s Revival Stranger Synths Synthwave 2085
  3. Ah so that might be the reason. I was logging into IK Product Manager to do some updates this avo BUT its accepting the credentials and then the circle of dots whirls around, eventual error might not have proper internet connection, cannot access ... erm I do .. Gigabit Broadband
  4. @ZincT Yip I would be the same. Spent alot of time at MYST and had to stop gaming in general, was addictive .. 3 in the morning addictive I stopped gaming about 20 years ago and have none installed BUT I like the size relatively of MYST and will dip in have a look again, see if I can be more disciplined Other game that caught me was RETURN TO CASTLE WOLFENSTEIN https://store.steampowered.com/app/9010/Return_to_Castle_Wolfenstein/ I am a big fan of the arcade simpler games from 80s, 90s and do occasionally run them in emulators on PC ( Dosbox )
  5. @ZincT Agree with you. I just flagged you with a smilie ... as they say over here a bit of "divilment" ( said with Irish accent ) I did get the MYST deal though for < €9 .. I have some of them in boxsets/sleeves unused ( Sheldon moment ) .. I dont generally play games anymore for a long time, found i was spending too much time at them, but wouldnt mind dipping into MYST now and then, really liked that "universe"

  7. Strangely .. it seems to have resolved itself. Turned on laptop about 20 mins ago. Loaded Ableton 11, all quiet on the western from. Ill take that and wont jinx it
  8. Interesting that its just ableton - I have 10 and 11 installed. Cakewalk, FL Studio, Reason, Reaper, Samplitude and likes of Soundforge, Vegas etc all fine, no issues My system is a Dell Inspiron laptop 17" with 16GB Ram, Core i5, 2TB Samsung Evo 870 SSD, Nvidia Card with 4GB
  9. Yes .. I am concluding that Ableton doesnt like laptops particularly. I dont have this issue on a desktop of have with lower spec memory and HD ( mechanical ) wise
  10. @abacab It seems its been widespread for a long time. Lots of owners with various system specs having this issue and no real resolution, just tough luck it seems. I looked across many "solutions" .. generally none work for most OR only temporary. Its languishing on my system now and as much as I like to try it now and then, just too much noise the minute its opened. Every other DAW, all other software on system no problems like this, just ableton.
  11. In my case I find ABLETON 10 and 11 are the only Daw i have that sends my system fan nuts. Apparently its a thing for many for a good while, unresolved. Core i5 dell inspiron, 16GB Ram, 2TB Samsung Evo 870 SSD, 4GB Nvidia card
  12. This is another good one .. $10 down from $80 https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/5-Sampler/4345-Palindrome Palindrome is a granular morph plotting sampler geared toward experimental sound design.
  13. I am currently resurecting old original tracks from early 90s. I had the Cakewalk .wrk files on zip discs. Most of them used SOUNDFONTS and for the most part all of them are on the ZIP Discs also. I am using this FREE SF player in CW and works a treat. SFs can be dragged / dropped to the I/F https://www.kvraudio.com/product/bassmidi-vsti-by-falcosoft Whats refreshing about it is the quality of the SFs is very good AND I can do something that I cannot do resource wise with Kontakt. Load that SF vst on 14 tracks so far w/o causing any pressure on my system. Very very light on resources
  14. Ouch @abacab .. would they have been that big back in the 90s .. I was expecting MBs
  15. AND remember SBK files ( Creative Labs EMU SoundFont V1 Bank Format ) .. AWAVESTUDIO opens these https://www.fmjsoft.com/awavestudio.html#main
  16. Just trying this FREE SF player in CW and works a treat. SFs can be dragged / dropped to the I/F https://www.kvraudio.com/product/bassmidi-vsti-by-falcosoft
  17. Back in the day VIENNA was the soundfont editor to create new SFs etc. Interestingly there is a new editor here to create your own SFs. https://www.polyphone-soundfonts.com ITS FREE and its open source ( via the license page https://www.polyphone-soundfonts.com/license ). Available for ALL platforms - 64 bit I reckon it is this .. Free to create YOUR OWN soundfonts and not edit licensed ones. Similar to you can legally have a radio that tunes into cops but its illegal to listen
  18. One good thing I would imagine, about these MYST games from back the is the footprint on your HD should be relatively very small?
  19. The discussion is about SOUNDFONTS .. there is no problem with soundfonts being loaded and used in any version of windows inc 10 or 11. I have them loaded in CW in old .wrk projects from the 90s I am reworking currently
  20. I kept all my old soundfonts from back in the day. Had creative Labs and EMU soundcards. Could use a utility called Vienna to make own soundfonts. I have them all on a ZIP DISK, remember them. I also kept a USB Zip drive which works perfectly to this day along with about 30 zip disks of various audio stuff from back then inc old CW .wrk project files
  21. Interestingly latest FL STUDIO update ( ver 20.9.0.2748 ) replaces the old Fruity SoundFont Player with the new 64 bit and macOS compatible SoundFont Player plugin .. simply called SoundFont Player https://www.image-line.com/fl-studio-learning/fl-studio-online-manual/html/plugins/SoundFont Player.htm Keep in mind FL Studio plugin allows FL to be used inside other DAWS like CW
